SUMMARY:ALPHA GRACE - "O" - SHOOT ME
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, January 28th Aterballetto performs at the Teatro Comunale di Todi\, as part of the 2023/2024 season organized by the Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria. For the occasion\, the entire company of sixteen dancers presents a triptych composed of Alpha Grace\, and “O” by Philippe Kratz\, and Shoot me by Diego Tortelli. \n\n– \n\n– \n\nBetween past and future\, two creations by Philippe Kratz. Alpha Grace\, a pas de six\, is a reflection on empathy\, a form of gentle communication between people who feel on the same level. It\, too\, is put to the test by the present times. \nFollowing that is “O”\, two bodies/automatons that force us to question how the sense of physical contact might change: will it remain emotional and felt\, or become serial and alienated? \nClosing the performance is the choreography by Diego Tortelli\, Shoot me\, which\, in its construction\, draws inspiration from the concept of a concert-ballet revisited in a contemporary key\, where music and dance accompany each other. A frontal work that aims to establish a direct exchange between the dancers on stage and the audience in the auditorium: a game of seduction\, of glances\, of sweat\, an assault on the senses\, and an ode to the body\, to breathing the same air\, sweat\, tears\, fury\, pride.

SUMMARY:YELED - SECUS
DESCRIPTION:  \nOn Friday\, January 26th\, Aterballetto arrives in Foligno at the Teatro Politeama Clarici\, as part of the 2023/2024 season organized by the Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria. On this occasion\, the entire company of sixteen dancers presents Yeled and Secus\, choreographed by Israeli choreographers Eyal Dadon and Ohad Naharin\, respectively. \nYeled by Eyal Dadon \n\nYeled in Hebrew means child. Can we change ourselves as adults? Can we go back to being children?\n“In the process of creation with the dancers\, I reflected on the moment in our lives\, as adults\, when we lost the feeling of being children\, the feeling of being naturally pure\, and the ability to have clean filters. When was the moment we lost our innocence and why? One of the main keys to the creation is the real things we learned as children and how these things shaped us into the people we are today.” – Eyal Dadon \nSecus by Ohad Naharin \n\nSecus boasts a musical collage that ranges from the unusual electronic styles of AGF to the seductive Indian melodies of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai\, to the resonant harmonies of the Beach Boys. This adventurously eclectic mix serves as the suitable backdrop for a bold and extravagant choreography that unfolds before our incredulous eyes in a human alphabet made up of sprints\, solos\, crisp and clean gestures\, interrupted duets. Through precise and sudden kicks\, sinuous disarticulation of hips\, torsos bending in all directions like molding clay\, Secus expresses pure emotions and feelings without becoming sentimental.

SUMMARY:MICRODANCES
DESCRIPTION:From December 16th to 22nd\, the MicroDances are on stage at the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra in Ravenna\, an archaeological site located in the undergrounds of the late Baroque church of Sant’Eufemia and considered by many as one of the most important discoveries in Italy in recent decades. The area features a prestigious complex of residential houses dating back to the 1st and 6th centuries AD\, enriched by “stone carpets”: marble and mosaic floors of high aesthetic and decorative value. The spaces of the Domus will host two works by Diego Tortelli – Yes\, Yes… and A Gig – as part of the program of the Ravenna Festival 2023. The stage for the two MicroDances is the large reception hall\, which contains the mosaic representation of the dancing seasons to the sound of the musician Pan: a play of refined geometries and inserts that meets the contemporary gestures of choreographer Diego Tortelli. \n“The MicroDances project at the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra marks a very interesting cultural operation that puts together a collaboration capable of involving at the same time one of the most fascinating sites of our historical and cultural heritage and the high artistic projectuality put in place by the Ravenna Festival\, of which the Autumn Trilogy is one of the highest and internationally recognized expressions. The Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra\, a place that guards the roots of the great Ravenna history of mosaic\, thus becomes a stage for a dance project aimed precisely at the dialogue between the arts. The MicroDances project arrives in Ravenna after prestigious debuts in the major European museums. It is not just about a virtuous collaboration between institutions\, but about a new paradigm that sees in the dialogue between different communicative codes an opportunity for multiplied fruition through an extraordinary immersive experience.” Fabio Sbaraglia – Councilor for Culture of Ravenna \nYes\, Yes… \nA creation that in a few minutes seeks to capture the atmosphere of the Silver Factory created by Andy Warhol in 1962: a place that has entered the collective imagination as a meeting point for artists and a hub of innovation and development of pop culture. The music for Yes\, Yes… is composed by artists Dean and Britta for Andy Warhol’s film Most Beautiful. The guitar sounds and the rock references to the 1970s remind us of the rhythms of the rock band Velvet Underground\, whose album was produced right at the Silver Factory. \n\n  \nA Gig \nA Gig is an opening or closing number. Something brief that serves to warm up the audience or bid goodnight to those who came to see us. In rock slang\, it’s often performed by the headlining group of an event. It’s not a full concert\, but a short performance that aims to capture the style\, vibes\, and intensity of the band in just a few minutes. In this new MicroDance\, I want to use the two dancers to engage closely with the audience’s gaze\, as if it were a little surprise in a context where a performance was unexpected. With the sound of the music\, the two dancers move over a text that says “easy\,” becoming themselves broken voices and glamorous seduction instruments. \n\n  \nPROGRAM AND HOURS \nSaturday\, December 16th\nA Gig – Performance times: 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM \nSunday\, December 17th\nYes\, Yes… – Performance times: 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM \nTuesday\, December 19th\nYes\, Yes… – Performance times: 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM \nWednesday\, December 20th\nYes\, Yes… – Performance times: 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM \nFriday\, December 22nd\nYes\, Yes… – Performance times: 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM \nTHE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE \nBetween 1993 and 1994\, the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Emilia Romagna\, interrupting the works for the construction of an underground parking lot\, unearthed near Via D’Azeglio a complex of building structures dating back to the Republican Roman period and the Byzantine period. \nIn particular\, what stood out among the archaeological stratigraphy was a complex of about 700 square meters consisting of 14 rooms and 2 courtyards dating to the 6th century AD\, surely belonging to an affluent family of the city given the splendor of the materials found concurrently. \nElevated walkways allow visitors to walk around the entire perimeter of the archaeological site and admire up close the wonderful floor mosaics that characterize it. In particular\, during the process of musealization\, priority was given to showcasing the phases of the rich Byzantine residence\, in which the amalgamation of two different buildings is now clearly visible\, originally separated by a Roman road of which part of the pavement is still visible. \nAll the rooms of the building were floored with marble tarsia or polychrome tesserae with refined geometries and figurative inserts. Among these\, the large reception hall stands out\, at the center of which is the mosaic depiction of the dancing seasons in a circle to the sound of the musician Pan. Autumn\, Spring on the left\, Winter covered by a hood can be recognized\, and finally a hint of Summer can be inferred\, a decoration unfortunately lost. \nINFO AND TICKETS \nMicroDanze admission included in the entrance ticket to the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra: Full price €6\, reduced price €5 \nFree admission for holders of the Trilogia d’Autunno 2023 ticket (also valid for free admission to the Museo Classis Ravenna until January 7\, 2024) \nInformation: tel. 0544 32512 or at the ticket office of the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra\, via Barbiani www.ravennantica.it \n

SUMMARY:Italia Danza - Dakar
DESCRIPTION:From November 28 to December 12\, 2023\, dance meets cultural diplomacy and travels with Italia Danza: the new project by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci)\, curated by CCN/Aterballetto. \nRealized through the General Directorate for Public and Cultural Diplomacy\, the project unfolds in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institutes\, with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the City of Reggio Emilia. The objective of Italia Danza is simple: to enhance the Italian Cultural Institutes\, places that remarkably represent cultural diplomacy worldwide\, by bringing some creations from the only National Choreographic Center in our country: CCN/Aterballetto. It’s a cosmopolitan project entrusted to the universal language of the body\, which CCN/Aterballetto interprets with its rich heritage of site-specific creations. \n\n“We are very proud to host in Dakar the final stage of the international tour of Italy Dance\, promoted by the General Directorate for Public and Cultural Diplomacy. It will be a unique opportunity to connect the “dakarois” audience with one of the excellences of Italian contemporary dance. Dance is a very popular language in Senegal\, strongly rooted in tradition\, with important figures recognized internationally such as Germaine Acogny\, founder of the École des Sables and Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2021 Dance Biennale. With Aterballetto\, we bring to Dakar a different vision\, an aesthetic linked to movement that is very refined and technically complex\, grounded in our academic tradition but looking to the present. It will be interesting to see the audience’s reaction\, especially in this format that involves close engagement and therefore a high degree of emotional involvement for the spectator.” \nSerena Cinquegrana\nDirector of the Italian Cultural Institute in Dakar \nDECEMBER 12 – 5:00 PM / 6:00 PM \nMusée Théodore Monod d’art africain – IFAN (Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire Cheikh Anta Diop)\n1\, Place Soweto\, BP 206\, Dakar\, Sénégal \nMICRODANCES \nActive Motivation\nby Elena Kekkou \nAnd yet it moves\nby Francesca Lattuada \nNear Life Experience\nby Angelin Preljocaj \nA Gig\nby Diego Tortelli \nDuration 60 minutes

In Aterballetto’s MicroDanze\, space is no longer just a place of consumption but becomes part of the choreography itself\, allowing a different interaction between the audience and the performers. The project is particularly significant for our venue\, designed by Gio Ponti and Pier Luigi Nervi. The dancers will guide the Stockholm audience through an evocative journey that will reinterpret the spaces envisioned by the great Milanese architect.” \nFrancesco Di Lella\nDirector Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm \n  \n7 DECEMBER – H 18:00 \nItalian Cultural Institute in Stockholm\nGärdesgatan 14\, 115 27\, Stockholm \nMICRODANZE \nEppur si muove\nby Francesca Lattuada \nNear Life Experience\nby Angelin Preljocaj \nA Gig\nby Diego Tortelli \nAn echo\, a wave\nby Philippe Kratz \nDuration 60′

\n\n4 DECEMBER – H 20.00 / H 21.15 \nZagrebački Plesni Centar\nIlica 10/1\, 10 000\, Zagreb \nMICRODANZE \nEppur si muove\nby Francesca Lattuada \nNear Life Experience\nby Angelin Preljocaj \nA Gig\nby Diego Tortelli \nAn echo\, a wave\nby Philippe Kratz \nDuration 60′

SUMMARY:Open Rehearsal - Secus
DESCRIPTION:Also this month\, the Fonderia opens its doors to an open rehearsal with the Aterballetto Company. \nOn Monday\, November 20th\, at 6:00 PM\, the audience can attend the rehearsal of Secus\, a choreography created by Ohad Naharin in 2019: one of those performances that is difficult to forget\, capable of uniquely highlighting the technical skills and expressiveness of dancers. \nThe creation boasts a musical collage ranging from the unusual electronic styles of AGF to the seductive Indian melodies of Kaho Naa Pyar Hai\, to the resonant harmonies of the Beach Boys. This adventurously eclectic mix takes shape before our eyes in the form of a human alphabet made of runs\, solos\, clean and precise gestures\, interrupted duets. Joy\, vulnerability\, fear\, innocence\, confusion\, and anger weave a harmonious and dynamic canvas that oscillates between delicacy and exaggeration. \nOpen rehearsals are unique moments where you can experience the backstage of a show\, interact with the artists\, and be amazed by the art of dance: a special opportunity that allows the audience to enter the daily routine of dancers and choreographers.

Human existence is an infinite line that\, as it progresses\, intersects with other lines creating interaction. It starts alone and ends alone. Essence\, however\, is found in the intermediate state. Movement contains a code that unlocks the essence of existence and delimits it. The choice of position is what defines the path.” \nElena Kekkou\n“` \n\nEppur si muove \nIn Eppur si muove\, enveloped in the refined and ethereal costumes by Bruno Fatalot\, two dancers move solemnly on a barrel-pedestal\, drawn by the mournful and mysterious note of Beethoven’s Allegretto. Their dance captivates and seduces\, imposing like a prayer chant. \nhttps://youtu.be/r_fSVDH7GGI \nNear life experience \n“Near life experience is the exploration of the different possibilities of the body\, possibilities that refer to intermediate sensations. We approach this state when we are particularly close to areas that hover on the border of existence\, which we access when we faint\, or in a trance\, in moments of ecstasy or orgasm. The sense of ecstasy and fading\, of dazzling sensation\, and the attempt to externalize individuality approach this experience. The subject is elsewhere\, taken away from oneself\, kidnapped. Near life experience evokes all this\, it is an attempt to extract oneself from space and time. A sort of eclipse of the self\, a search through this amniotic imaginary – a new writing in the space left empty by the body.” \nAngelin Preljocaj \nhttps://youtu.be/vYDrRikg6YA \nA Gig \nA Gig is the new unpublished work by Diego Tortelli \n“A GIG is an opening or closing number. Something short that serves to warm up the audience or to say ‘goodnight’ to those who came to see us. In ‘rock slang\,’ it is often performed by a group that is the headliner of an event. It’s not a full concert\, but a small performance that in a few minutes wants to capture the style\, vibes\, and intensity of the band

SUMMARY:Docufilm Screening - DANCE FOR AN IDEAL CITY
DESCRIPTION:First Screening: Cinedanza Festival / Drama Theater\, Modena – 6:00 PM \nDance for An Ideal City is the docufilm that\, starting from the MicroDances project\, explores the possibility of narrating the contemporary city through dance. Conceived by Gigi Cristoforetti and directed by filmmaker Daniele Costa and art critic Nicolas Ballario\, it will be screened for the first time on Sunday\, October 29th at 6:00 PM at the Drama Theater in Modena\, as part of the international Cinedanza festival. \nCinedanza\, now in its fifth edition in 2023\, is the first international competition and festival in Emilia Romagna entirely dedicated to videodance. The festival takes place in Modena\, between the FMAV School of Advanced Training and the Drama Theater\, with a program that includes screenings\, meetings\, and discussions. \nFrom the museums of Athens to the city parks of Brussels\, from Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome to the outskirts of Reggio Emilia\, Dance for An Ideal City is a video narrative that passes through the stages of a journey that began in 2021 with An Ideal City\, the urban art project co-financed by the Creative Europe program of the European Union\, in partnership with Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels and the Greek National Opera Ballet in Athens. \nPremiering at the festival\, the docufilm showcases different ways of experiencing dance in public spaces and through different languages\, featuring interviews with artists and curators including choreographer Angelin Preljocaj\, art historian Angela Vettese\, visual artist Gianmaria Tosatti\, art curators Nadja Argyropolou and Costanza Meli\, and FND/Aterballetto director Gigi Cristoforetti.

SUMMARY:Storie
DESCRIPTION:After the opening performance on 8 September\, Aterballetto dances again within the prestigious Le Temps d’Aimer la Danse festival in Biarritz. \nOn 10 September\, the company will show its talent for ubiquity and dance Storie in two different theatres\, near Biarritz\, at the same time: \nSaint-Pée-sur-Nivelle\, Espace Culturel Larreko || Errenteria – Pays Basque Sud\, Lekuona Fabrika \n\nStorie is a small anthology of danced fragments. They constitute only an infinitesimal part of the very rich artistic and human universe of the two choreographers Diego Tortelli and Philippe Kratz. \nTortelli creates two pieces: Preludio\, opening the evening\, is a love letter to the body for five dancers on the music of Nick Cave\, Another story is a duet on the impossible gesture of 2020\, the embrace. Between past and future are Kratz’s two creations. The “O” duo offers us two bodies/robots\, forcing us to question how the meaning of physical contact might change: will it remain emotional and felt\, or will it become serial and alienated?\nAlpha Grace\, a six-step in the evening’s conclusion\, is a reflection on empathy\, a form of gentle communication between people who feel on the same plane. It too is challenged by the present times. \n

SUMMARY:Yeled - Shoot me
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto starts its 2023/24 season by opening the prestigious festival Le temps d’aimer la danse in Biarritz. \nOn stage YELED and SHOOT ME\, by the two young choreographers Eyal Dadon and Diego Tortelli. \nYELED\, a Hebrew word meaning “child\,” brings to the stage Israeli choreographer Eyal Dadon’s reflection\, together with Aterballetto dancers\, on the moment in life when we come to lose the innocence of children.\nSHOOT ME\, by our resident choreographer Diego Tortelli\, on the other hand\, is a frontal work that aims to put the dancers on stage and the audience in the stalls in a direct exchange relationship: a game of seduction\, of glances\, of sweat\, an assault on the senses and an ode to the body\, to breathing the same air\, sweat\, tears\, fury\, pride. \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:DON JUAN
DESCRIPTION:At the Arena Sferisterio in Macerata Aterballetto dances Don Juan\, the full evening signed by Johan Inger. \nFor the Macerata Opera Festival the company will dance with the live music played by FORM-Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana and directed by the baton of Manuel Coves. \nThe choreography stems from Inger’s desire to confront Don Juan\, an ancient and still contemporary paradigmatic myth. The original play by Tirso de Molina\, Molière\, Bertold Brecht and the play by Suzanne Lilar are just some of the sources of inspiration: Inger and playwright Gregor Acuña-Pohl were able to consult twenty-five different texts inspired by the character. \nIn the creation we find all the characters in the story\, from Donna Elvira to Donna Anna to Zerlina and Masetto. Don Juan can be considered a Kammerspiel\, with its ability to emphasize nuances and emotions: and in the case of this creation\, dance becomes a magnifying glass for the individual characters\, and subtly but clearly reveals the inner worlds of the men and women on stage. \nDanza&Danza ‘Best Production’ Award 2020
