SUMMARY:Don Juan
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto is in Logroño\, in Spain\, with Don Juan\, the full evening production by Johan Inger. \nThe choreography comes from Inger’s desire to confront Don Juan\, a paradigmatic myth that is both ancient and still contemporary. The original comedy by Tirso de Molina\, Molière\, Bertold Brecht and the play by Suzanne Lilar are just some of the sources of inspiration: Inger and playwright Gregor Acuña-Pohl consulted twenty-five different texts inspired by the character. \nIn the creation we find all the characters of the story\, from Donna Elvira to Donna Anna to Zerlina and Masetto. Don Juan can be considered a Kammerspiel\, with its ability to emphasise nuances and emotions: and in the case of this creation\, dance becomes a magnifying glass for the individual characters\, subtly but clearly revealing the inner world of the men and women on stage. \nDanza&Danza Award ‘Best Production’ 2020 \n

SUMMARY:Don Juan
DESCRIPTION:At Teatro Sociale in Como Aterballetto dances Don Juan\, the full evening production by Johan Inger.

SUMMARY:Double Side
DESCRIPTION:At Teatro Comunale in Ferrara Aterballetto presents the new production Double Side. \nBaroque music and contemporary dance are combined in the new programme of the Italian Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto\, which features two choreographers from Canada and Cuba who are little known in Italy\, Danièle Desnoyers and Norge Cedeño Raffo. In close collaboration with the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini from Parma\, its orchestral counterpart from Emilia-Romagna Region\, the renowned company brings along a musical ensemble of singers and string players\, dancing to a baroque suite and a “Stabat Mater” by Arvo Pärt. \n \nSynopsis \nThe Cuban Norge Cedeño Raffo creates to religious music\, of all things. The young\, up-and-coming choreographer was a soloist with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba\, the most important contemporary company in Cuba. Arvo Pärt’s “Stabat Mater” becomes a painful farewell work for him. The Estonian composer set the medieval text about the pain of the Mother of God to music in his characteristic\, reduced style. The moving effect of this music also characterises the expressive\, free and\, in the most beautiful sense\, pure dance: how can one find hope again in a destroyed world and after such a great loss\, how can one go on living\, Norge Cedeño Raffo asks himself in his work. \n\nChoreographer Danièle Desnoyers comes from Montréal\, the metropolis of modern Canadian dance\, where her light\, fluid style and her own company make her a permanent fixture on the contemporary scene. SUMMARY:Shoot me - Secus
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto is back in the spotlight at the Operaestate festival in Bassano del Grappa with SHOOT ME and Secus\, two choreographies that between plasticity and energy seem to translate Canova’s work into movement. \nFor the creation SHOOT ME\, choreographer Diego Tortelli reinterprets the idea of the concert-ballet in a contemporary key: music and dance thus accompany each other in a composition without narrative\, but which guides the spectator to create open imagery and to feel emotions\, inspired by the imagery of demonstrations\, pride\, catwalks… everything that connects in a group and that at the same time allows one not to lose one’s own voice. A work that puts the dancers on stage and the audience in the stalls in direct contact: a game of seduction\, of glances\, an assault on the senses and an ode to the body. \n  \n\nSecus\, on the other hand\, is a creation by Ohad Naharin\, boasting a musical collage that stretches from the unusual electronic styles of AGF to the seductive Indian melodies of Kaho Naa Pyar Hai\, to the resonant harmonies of the Beach Boys. An adventurously eclectic mix\, which serves as a backdrop for a daring and extravagant choreography: in which a human alphabet is composed of runs\, solos\, terse and clean gestures\, interrupted duets\, which\, through precise and sudden gestures\, expresses pure emotions and feelings without becoming sentimental. Joy\, vulnerability\, fear\, innocence\, confusion and anger weave a harmonious and dynamic canvas that oscillates between delicacy and exaggeration. \n\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:SHOOT ME - BLISS
DESCRIPTION:At the 33rd edition of the Florence Dance Festival Aterballetto dances SHOOT ME\, the latest choreography by Diego Tortelli\, for the first time on stage since its debut in April 2022. On the strong rhythms of the English rock group Spiritualized\, mixed with poems recited by Jim Morrison\, the 16 dancers with glittery hair create on stage a dizzying game of seduction\, glances and complicity with the audience. \nBLISS is one of the company’s hits\, created by award-winning Swedish choreographer Johan Inger. The choreography\, accompanied by the notes of Keith Jarrett’s famous and iconic Köln Concert\, is a true hymn to the joy of dancing. The euphoria of the performers is a pleasure to behold\, so captivating and powerful that it is still charming theatres all over the world since 2016. \n  \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Another Story
DESCRIPTION:Another Story\, the duet by Diego Tortelli\, is at Scandicci\, near Florence\, for the festival Nutida. \nAnother Storytells the new story of the most feared and at the same time desired gesture of 2020: the hug. A gesture as simple as a hug has been transformed into the most hidden desire and at the opposite into an almost “terrorist” act\, without losing its deep meaning of carnal sharing. Another Story becomes a solitary\, shared\, violent\, painful\, tiring and also desired\, hidden\, intimate embrace. What choreographer Diego Tortelli intends to do is to write another story to be mutually felt and observed by performer and spectator.
