SUMMARY:Patchwork\, un mosaico di storie
DESCRIPTION:Patchwork\, un mosaico di storie\, written and directed by four hands\, is the result of an international co-production.\nThe production has two twin castles\, one Italian and one Canadian. The show\, more visual and expressive than words\, deals with the theme of identity in today’s contemporary and multicultural society by staging the meeting of two characters who express themselves in Italian\, English and French without hindering the understanding of the story. \nCANCELLED PERFORMANCE\nFondazione Nazionale della Danza informs\, according to the DPCM of March 4th\, 2020\, on “Measures to combat and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the entire national territory”\, being evidently of absolute inapplicability the possibility to allow places of theatrical performance to respect the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter\, the SUSPENSION until April 3rd of all activities scheduled in its spaces. \n  \nCredits \nText and direction Cristina Cazzola and Carol Cassistat\nWritten in collaboration with Lucio Diana\nWith Sara Zoia and Daniele Tessaro\nSet and Lighting Design Lucio Diana\nOriginal music Nicolas Jobin \nProduction Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri\, Théâtre du Gros Mécano (Québec City)\, Signs of Childhood Association\, Atrium de Chaville (Paris)\, Musée national des beaux arts du Québec (Paris)\, Museo Benaki (Athens) \nDuration 55′ \nRecommended age from 5 years old and up \nThe inspiration \nWho are we?\nHow do we create our identity? \nWe started with an image.\nA patchwork blanket\, a courtepointe as they call it in Québec\, made of many different pieces of fabric. \nOften woven by several hands\, it can tell the story of a person\, an event\, an entire family or a generation. It speaks of the identity made up of many different fragments\, it speaks of us\, and of our being multicultural\, of humanity that is increasingly multicolored and multi-ethnic\, but with intertwining roots. \nFamily stories and family trees that can only contain and be the fruit of many journeys. An identity generated by encounters and clashes\, the fruit of a thousand migrations.\nAnd so our private history\, our identity\, a mosaic of stories that starting from Africa with our ancestor Lucy the first Australopithecus\, retraces the great journeys of humanity. \nThe plot \nTwo characters meet in a place without space or time. \nHe’s an anthropologist\, she’s a seamstress and they meet for work in a place of passage\, an airport. \nThey do not speak the same language but by communicating with looks\, gestures and simple words using the narrative power of objects they create a common language that makes communication possible and fun. \nEvery detail of their luggage tells something\, some objects bring them together\, others surprise them and so they begin to tell about family trips and adventures. The meeting soon turns into a theatrical game where adults and children are involved in the reflection on two questions that have always accompanied us: who we are and where we come from. \nAn amusing journey back through the branches of family trees and the migrations that have built the history of humanity\, to discover that\, since ever\, our identity is a patchwork\, part of a larger story where each of us is a unique and indispensable piece. \n\n\n

SUMMARY:PRESENT CONTINUOUS
DESCRIPTION:Between parody and attempt to bring on stage those dances really contemporary and anthropological as the latest generation disco dance\, Salvo Lombardo photographs a moment of extreme topicality\, a youthful and alienating nocturnal excerpt\, creating a funny but deeply tragic documentary in which the human seems to cancel itself to the rhythm of digital beats. (Benedetta Colasanti – Recensito) \nCredits \nConceived\, choreographed and directed by Salvo Lombardo\nPerformers Cesare Benedetti\, Lucia Cammalleri\, Daria Greco\, Salvo Lombardo\nCollaborating choreographer Daria Greco\nLighting design Loris Giancola\nSound design Fabrizio Alviti \nProduction Festival Oriente Occidente\nCo-producers Chiasma\, Versiliadanza\nWith the support of DiD Studio – Ariella Vidach AiEP\, Versilia Danza\, Anghiari Dance Hub\, Teatri di Vita\nSpecial thanks to Studio Azzurro – Area Ricerca Progressiva \nDuration 40′\nPremiere September 2017 – Festival Oriente Occidente\n \nINSIGHTS \nAfter having collected the movements and gestures of passersby with the project Casual Bystanders and developed game and social dynamic standards with the project Twister\, Salvo Lombardo continues with Present Continuous in his research into the relationship between memory\, perception and movement by observing real life. In this case\, the choreography is “derivative” once again and often calls upon “ready-made” gestures. \nThe performance is based on the shared memory of the same experience – an evening in a night club – during which\, performers observed and appropriated a system of postures\, motor-actions and relational means of those present. In every daily act we produce tracks that attest to our being in the world. We immortalise surrogates of reality\, bodiless mists\, which nail events to an eternal present\, spreading themselves on our behalf and reproducing a fixed condition that excludes any real relationship with their original subject. \nPresent Continuous simply seeks to mark the points of a choreographic narrative that has been developed on the basis of the negotiation of memory through the sharing of reproducible motor sequences. The memory of real movement intertwines with a subjective micro-narrative that reveals the emotional life of the performer in their attempt to reconfigure a shared memory of movement and the experience it created\, which\, exploding from its actual re-enactment\, leaves the “now” and becomes bounded to a future in the making. \nSalvo Lombardo \nSalvo Lombardo is an italian perfomer\, coreographer and director who bases his work on a constant research of a relation between theatre\, dance and visual art. He lives and works in Rome. He is the artistic director of the Chiasma Company whose works were presented in the main Festivals and Theatres in Italy. \nIn 2015-2016 he was resident choreographer at Anghiari Dance Hub where he worked at the project “Casual Bystanders” based on a choreographic pattern representing an archive of “not-extraordinary” gestures proceeding from kinetic fragments of common people observed in public places. From 2016 till today Salvo Lombardo is supported by the Festival Fabbrica Europa that produces many of his dance pieces. \nFrom 2017 he is one of the associated artists of the Festival Oriente Occidente\, the principal co-producer of the performance “Present Continuous” inspired by a memory system of gestures which stem from a night’s work at a music club and also the interactive installation in augmented reality titled “Reappearances” conceived for the MART Museum of Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto\, involving the participation of the local community. \nIn 2017 he is guest choreographer at Aura Dance Theatre of Kaunas (LIT) for which he conceived the performance “Twister” studying the relationship between gestures memory\, play and sociality. In 2018 he worked on the project “L’Esemplare Capovolto”\, aims to generate a series of performative actions\, installations\, conferences\, workshops and the creation of the show “Excelsior”\, co-produced by the Théâtre National de Chaillot of Paris and the Romaeuropa Festival.\n \n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Repeat / Harleking
DESCRIPTION:Fabrizio Di Franco\, very young dancer of Agora Coaching Project\, presents his first choreography Repeat. Following Harleking\, a bizarre\, ironic and caricatured duet by the talented duo Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi inspired by the mask of Harlequin. \nRepeat \nChoreography Fabrizio Di Franco\nDancers Fabrizio Di Franco\, Matilde Gherardi\nMusic AGF\, Olafur Arnalds\, Basstrio Mosfellsdals \nProduction Agora Coaching Project \nHarleking \nBy and with Ginevra Panzetti\, Enrico Ticconi\nSound design Demetrio Castellucci\nLight design Annegret Schalke\nTechnical direction Paolo Tizianel\nCostume Ginevra Panzetti\, Enrico Ticconi\nPromotion Marco Villari\nVideo documentation Ettore Spezza\nIllustrations and graphic Ginevra Panzetti \nWith the support of VAN (IT) // Tanzfabrik\, Berlin (DE) // PACT Zollverein\, Essen (DE) // NAOcrea – Ariella Vidach AiEP\, Milano (IT) // KommTanz – Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni\, Rovereto (IT) // L’arboreto – Teatro Dimora\, Mondaino (IT) // AtelierSì\, Bologna (IT) // C.L.A.P.Spettacolodalvivo\, Brescia (IT)\nFurther supports Cronopios – Teatro Petrella\, Longiano (IT) // Vera Stasi – Progetti per la Scena\, Tuscania (IT) // Network Anticorpi XL (IT) 2018 \nHARLEKING is a demon with multiple identities.\nHis body expression resembles that of Harlequin of the Commedia dell’Arte\, a sly servant moved by an insatiable hunger. HARLEKING’s mode of communication has a specific hypnotic quality in which its contents\, often extreme and contradictory\, merge to create a fluid\, metamorphic system wherein anything can happen\, yet all is blurred. It is reminiscent of the Grotesques\, ancient wall decorations\, in which monstrous figures emerge and blend in with elegant ornamental volutes.\nFigures\, which\, although can evoke amusement\, do not elicit any joy. \nThe work premiered in July 2018 in the frame of Open Spaces Sommer Tanz at Tanzfabrik Berlin and it has been presented among several European dance festivals and theatres. In 2019 it has been selected by the Aerowaves Twenty19 for the Spring Forward 2019 and the New Italian Dance (NID) Platform. \npanzettiticconi.com \n

From Combustioni\, a show created to celebrate the reopening of the Teatro Continuo in Burri\, to Luminare Minus\, commissioned by the Science Museum of Milan\, to continue with Funambolia\, which inaugurates the dance season of the Teatro Gerolamo in 2017.\nThen again Hopper Variations\, En écoutant du Schumann\, on stage at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow\, Balthus and Variations for Five\, the latter programmed at the Al Bustan festival in Beirut in 2019. Different contexts and creative impulses\, for a single creative vocation. \nIn retracing her choreographic work since 2004\, Shortcut does not choose the path of chronological exhibition\, but creates a narrative based on affinity; the same that links the choreographer to the beautiful music specially written by the composer Giampaolo Testoni. Each extract from the main works is mirrored in the next\, following a reasoned thread. \nEmanuela Tagliavia \nDancer and choreographer\, she trained in Italy and then perfected her skills in contemporary dance in France. Her works have been performed in some of the most important theatres and festivals in Italy and abroad (Teatro alla Scala in Milan\, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and Teatro Bolshoi in Moscow\, Piccolo Teatro and Teatro Strehler in Milan\, to name a few). In recent years he has worked with Gabriele Salvatores for the production of La Gazza Ladra (Milan\, Teatro alla Scala\, 2017) and with Liliana Cavani for the staging of Alì Baba e i Quaranta Ladroni (Milan\, Teatro alla Scala\, 2018). In 2019 he curated the Gala di Danza organized by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto at Teatro Diego Fabbri in Forlì. She created the choreographic movements of the show Qohelet\, which was staged with great success at the Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan (February 2019); she participated in the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut\, with young dancers from the Scuola di Ballo Accademia Teatro alla Scala. In the summer of 2019 he created the choreography for the Dolce & Gabbana AltaSartoria event held in Sciacca\, Sicily. In September his choreographies were the protagonists of the opening show of the 24th World Energy Forum held in Abu Dhabi. Numerous are the awards and recognitions to his career and his creations. She is artistic director of the contemporary dance festival “Pulchra minima” at the Teatro Gerolamo in Milan.\nSince 1999 Emanuela Tagliavia has taught contemporary dance at the Dance School of the Accademia delle Arti e Mestieri of the Teatro alla Scala. Since 2007 she has taught at the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi.
