SUMMARY:Euripides Laskaridis
DESCRIPTION:Defined by critics as burlesque\, comic\, crazy\, explosive and at the same time poetic\, the Greek artist Euripides Laskaridis is fascinated by the notions of transformation and ridicule\, directly related to the instability that his country is going through\, in an attempt to explore the perseverance of humanity in the face of the unknown and the unknown. \nThe body of the performer\, deformed\, corrupted in its own form\, together with the language and gestures outside of any canon\, represents the disharmony of the present society: through dance\, the body becomes the instrument through which to convey a message of denunciation of the present society that\, although it grows in wealth\, services\, and new opportunities\, presents all its degree of corruption in the constant persistence of social and economic inequalities. \nAfter four intense days of masterclasses with the dancers of the Agora Coaching Project\, Euripides Laskaridis meets the public in the Fonderia in an open rehearsal\, creating a dialogue between movement and words. \nThe open rehearsal of Euripides Laskaridis is part of the Return Trip project\, supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. \nEuripides Laskaridis will be with his Titans in the summer program of the Teatro Sociale of Brescia\, partner of the project Return Trip\, June 28. \n \n

SUMMARY:Compagnia Artemis Danza
\nCOMPAGNIA ARTEMIS DANZA \nOriginally from Ferrara\, Monica Casadei graduates in philosophy cum laude writing a dissertation on dance in Plato’s system. After a career as a professional acrobatic gymnast\, she takes to studying classic and modern dance\, at first in Italy\, then in London\, and eventually in Paris where she gets to meet choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz and the Master André Cognard Hanshi So shihan\, with whom she still practices the martial art of Aikido. \nIn France\, she founds the company Artemis Danza\, with which she later moves to Italy\, in 1997\, giving birth to a fervent production activity that amounts\, nowadays\, to over 40 original creations. \nFrom 1998 to 2007\, the Company is part of an artist residency at Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma whereas\, from 2014 up to this day\, it partakes in an artist residency at Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Artemis Danza has been invited to the most important Italian theatres and festivals and to several international tours and festivals. \nPivotal elements in Monica Casadei’ s artistic research are the influences from different artistic\, cultural and geographic fields and the exploration of urban spaces and places that turn into stages for performances. \nAlongside the production activity\, Artemis funds\, produces and promotes young choreographers and organizes several activities meant to artistically educate the audience. \nartemisdanza.com \n\n

DESCRIPTION:IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA_BALLETTO D’AZIONE\nUno\, dieci\, cento Figaro in azione. \n  \nCrediti \nChoreography\, set and lighting design Monica Casadei\nMusic Gioachino Rossini\nSound design and original songs Luca Vianini\nCostume design Daniela Usai\nAssistant to musical dramaturgy and costumes Davide Tagliavini\nAssistants to the choreographer Antonio Bissiri\, Vittorio Colella\, Teresa Morisano \nProduction Compagnia Artemis Danza in collaboration with AMAT and Municipality of Pesaro\nCo-production Italian Festival in Bangkok\, Festival Orizzonti\, Armonie d’Arte Festival\nin collaboration with Rossini Opera Festival and Teatro Comunale di Bologna\nThanks to A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Palace\nWith the contribution of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities\, Emilia-Romagna Region Department of Culture \nInsights \nOn the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of Gioachino Rossini\, Monica Casadei\, with the Compagnia Artemis Danza\, faces one of the most famous titles of the maestro from Pesaro\, “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”\, with a choreographic interpretation that debuted in Pesaro\, in the historic Teatro Rossini\, in collaboration with AMAT – Associazione Marchigiana Attività Teatrali and Comune di Pesaro. \nA show that Monica Casadei imagined as a futuristic “action ballet” and that\, as usual\, involves in a contamination of languages all the creative body of Artemis\, which is enriched by the costumes made by visual artist Daniela Usai and the musical elaborations of the composer Luca Vianini\, who compares with Rossini. \nBut who is really Figaro? In Monica Casadei’s reading Figaro is the prototype of the successful man in today’s world. The Rossini hero becomes the emblem of those who succeed in satisfying with effectiveness\, vivacity and savoir faire the expectations of a society that imposes every day to reach its goals optimizing time and energy. \nOn the choreographic level\, Figaro’s character multiplies in the bodies of the entire company\, where\, without gender distinctions\, the performers act with the determination\, energy and rigour of a special team: toned\, gritty and hyper-concentrated\, their dance manipulates time and space without respite\, continuously weaves and loosens an infinite network of changes of direction\, intersections of trajectories and inlays of movements. As if they were following the routes of crowded and noisy highways\, the dancers unravel with lucidity and martial energy\, wise gears of the crazy mechanism of social living. \nThe result is an action performance\, characterized by an atmosphere suspended between a past shadow and a flashing and frenetic present: the unreachable image of a perfect man appears and disappears under the eyes of the public to multiply in the dancers and their technical virtuosities. \nThe historical costumes are the result of a collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival and the Teatro Comunale of Bologna\, while the tailored dresses were made in collaboration with A.N.G.E.L.O Vintage Palace (Lugo di Romagna)\, reference pole of vintage in Italy.\nThe show was co-produced by the Italian Festival in Thailand in Bangkok\, the Orizzonti Festival in Chiusi and the Armonie d’Arte Festival in Borgia. \nCOMPAGNIA ARTEMIS DANZA \nOriginally from Ferrara\, Monica Casadei graduates in philosophy cum laude writing a dissertation on dance in Plato’s system. SUMMARY:DANCEHAUSPIù / CZD / ATERBALLETTO
\n  \nI WANDERED LONELY AS A CLOUD \nChoreography Matteo Bittante\nMusic various authors\nDancers Fabio Calvisi\, Alice Carrino\, Giovanni Leone\nProduction DanceHauspiù \n“I wandered lonely like a cloud” is the beginning of one of the most famous poems of English romanticism written at the beginning of the nineteenth century by William Wordsworth. In this new creation by choreographer Matteo Bittante\, co-director and resident artist of the National Centre for Dance Production\, DANCEHAUSpiù\, the poet’s verses form the backdrop to the bucolic and wandering rite of the three dancers in which the vital force and idyllic quiet of nature contrast with the upheavals and confusion of the city. In the poetry\, as in the show\, the real protagonists are not the men but the elements of nature such as the lake\, the narcissus or the clouds with which the bodies of the dancers try a possible metamorphosis. \nNotes of the choreographer\nI lived my childhood on a hill\, in the middle of nature\, running from one meadow to another\, climbing the trees\, I was always in constant contact\, almost symbiotic with her.\nSince ancient times\, the countryside and rural life have served as a source of inspiration for many artists.\nAn idyllic place of escape\, a refuge from the duties of life\, once for the exploration of the self.\nA landscape of the soul\, today to be defended and protected against the ideologies of an era that contaminate and desertify Mother Earth. \nMatteo Bittante \n \nx2 \nPremiere \nChoreography Roberto Zappalà\nMusic Johann Sebastian Bach\nDancers Maud de la Purification\, Roberto Provenzano\nCostume and lighting design Roberto Zappalà\nCostume realization Debora Privitera\nTechnical director Sammy Torrisi\nProduction Scenario Pubblico / Compagnia Zappalà Danza \nThis short episode begins the act of artistic love that Roberto Zappalà wants to dedicate to great composer Johann Sebastian Bach. No dramaturgy\, no intellectual reasoning\, just a close relationship between music and dance. On the other hand Zappalà has made Charles Baudelaire’s thought his own: “Glorifying the cult of image and aesthetics is my goal even before its meaning”. \nThe creation represents one of the phases of a path divided into three different moments/episodes: x2\, x4\, which are also the respective numbers of dancers on stage\, while the third episode will be a creation for the entire Company and will see its debut in autumn 2020. The final project will be inspired by the different versions that have been created and “remade” over time. \n''O'' \nChoreography Philippe Kratz\nMusic Mark Pritchard and The Field\nCostume design Francesca Messori\nLighting design Carlo Cerri\nDancers Philippe Kratz and Ivana Mastroviti\nProduction Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto \nFirst prize at the 32nd Choreographic Competition in Hanover – June 2018\nPhilippe Kratz is a member of the stARTacademy of Bayer Arts & Culture. \nThe idea at the base of “O” is eternity and how attaining it is humanity’s ultimate goal. As in the summer of 2017 in Hong Kong for the very first time two humanoid robots vocally interacted with one another it became clear to anyone watching that a future\, in which accumulated human knowledge is passed on by communicating inorganic material\, is within reach. \nTherefore “O” can be seen as two human beings or two robots celebrating in a state of transcendence and emotional fulfilment\, both moving to the never-ending beat of their unstoppable hearts.\nAnd as the spaceship computer Hal in Stanley Kubrick’s movie ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ puts it: “I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently\, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I’ve still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.” \n\n  \n  \n\n  \n

\n  \nCredits \nDancers E.sperimenti Dance Company\nChoreographies Federica Galimberti\nMusic AVV ed elaborazioni elettroniche\nCostumes Noemi Intino\nLight design EDC \nProduction by gruppodanzaoggi di Patrizia Salvatori \nInsights \nLight and shadow\, shadow and light … the alternation of them is marked by the life of the human being\, always: an ancestral rhythm that awakens the atavistic animal within each of us and rediscovers the overwhelming strength of the male in harmony with nature\, in its fragility before the greatness of it. \nCONVERGENZE highlights the division of the human soul between reason and instinct found in tribality\, in the rediscovery of the roots inherent in the rhythm of the ‘earth’\, as in the flight of the free animal\, beautiful of a pure beauty because naturally wild\, in harmony with Nature.\nInteresting is the creation by Federica Galimberti\, who writes a very personal language\, pulsating\, new\, contaminated in the charm of light and darkness.\nThe interaction with space develops in an abstract and visionary way from which pure forms of light that divide and reflect\, composing spaces in the imagination of the viewer come to life. \nA primordial rhythm that materializes in a physical dance\, on the ground\, in the extreme challenge of themselves and the other in an abstract yet engaging and energetic relationship between electronic music and the ground\, light and rhythm\, the power of male dance and the joy of dynamics. A conscious and precise choice that the choreographer makes to configure this theme with an all-male ensemble\, of great scenic impact\, but also capable of expressing the infinite fragility in front of the immense. And the representation of themes so ancient\, yet so contemporary\, fascinates giving life to a very convincing piece. \n  \n \nE.sperimenti Dance Company \nE.espimenti gdo Dance Company\, the leading company of GDO\, is a sparkling ensemble with the most diverse dynamics and styles ranging from breakin’ to contemporary\, from modern to floorwork\, from dance theatre to acrobatics. It expresses a contaminated\, engaging\, ingenious language ready to ‘smile’ in all its artistic expression. \nThe components are performers of different backgrounds and experiences that maintain their individuality\, but they are one when they work together. This effervescent Italian excellence ‘under 35’\, generous and innovative artistically conveys the ‘made in Italy’ across the border with honor. \nIn the last five years its performers have been present abroad for the Year of Italian Culture in Brazil\, the United States\, Russia and again in Thailand\, Jordan\, Palestine as well as\, in 2012\, at the EXPO in Yeosu for the Ceremony of handover in Milan 2015. \nA precious alchemy distinguishes each performance of this particular Company that with ease and talent contaminates techniques and languages\, appropriating them to generate its own\, convincing\, ‘true’ and thus draws a new stylistic geography\, which expresses its moments of experimentation\, research\, creation\, with theatricality and extreme attention to convey the message with refinement\, good taste\, genius and especially the inevitable irony that characterizes them in the drama. \nAn intelligent and convincing design operation that attracts and retains the public. \nwww.esperimentidancecompany.com \n  \n\n

\n  \nDéjà Donné \nThe contemporary dance company Déjà Donné was founded in 1997 in Prague; in 2000 the head office moved to Umbria where an intense activity of creation and circulation of shows began\, both in Italy and abroad. During the year 2015 a transformation takes place that starts a new path of the company\, imagined by the artistic direction of Virginia Spallarossa and Gilles Toutevoix. \nTheir work intends to guide Déjà Donné towards new potentialities\, contributing to a deep renewal of sign and languages through the creation of their own shows. \nThe main activities of Déjà Donné include: creation and production of contemporary dance performances and shows; regional\, national and international distribution of the works produced; training activities for professionals and non-professionals; creation of projects aimed at promoting contemporary dance and training the public through the involvement of other artistic subjects\, in Italy and abroad. \nThe company’s works have been presented in 26 countries\, in North and South America\, in Asia and in Europe.\nDéjà Donné’s activity is supported by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Umbria Region. \nwww.dejadonne.com \nINC InNprogressCollective \nThe group was founded in 2006 following the creation of “HEIM”\, which will be the only overall winner of the International Dance Week in Spoleto\, attracting the interest of many professionals. The choreography Heim will be hosted in the largest Italian festivals\, including Amores (Bologna)\, Cross Roads (Florence)\, Giffoni Film Festival (Giffoni)\, Notte Bianca (Rome)\, Fringe Festival (Spoleto).\nHence the idea of creating a stable group of young artists\, promoters of new forms of contemporary street art\, urban dances and trends. \nProduction will follow: Departure (2007)\, Underskin (2008 – winner of the International Dance Week in Spoleto)\, Protest! Director Giuseppe Tornatore chooses the INC company for a dance scene from his film “La Corrispondenza”\, which will be released in cinemas in January 2016. \nCharacterized by a surprising young age and a strong artistic fellowship\, they are the supporters of an alliance\, where talents and skills are shared\, mixed and recomposed towards collective goals. DESCRIPTION:toPRAY\ntoPRAY is a show in which urban dances are mixed with contemporary gestures\, producing a dance out of the box\, out of time. The choreography draws on multicultural calligraphy\, resulting in a universal language: like the story of the human soul. \n  \nCredits \nChoreography Afshin Varjavandi\nDancers Luca Calderini\, Mattia Maiotti\, Jenny Mattaioli\, Elia Pangaro\nLighting design Fabio Galeotti\nSound design Angelo Benedetti\nProduction Déjà Donné  \nInsights \n“He who knows the power of dance dwells in God.” Rumi \nThere is also a constant that we call T\, for which that moment is intimate and individual\, referring to the individual\, not multipliable and not handed down. It is only one’s own eyes that exercise that vision. The constant T is a transcendent number. toPRAY does not speak of the constant T\, but tells of the point of view from which one observes. toPRAY is a corridor: sometimes to reach the human soul the path is long and narrow. Other times contemporary man does not find the time to choose complex roads\, to cross them the time he takes corresponds to the constant T. We cross the symbols that in history we have attributed to what we cannot see\, to give life a different value\, to recognize beyond the FORM a different level. \nWhat does it mean to ‘pray’? We look for an answer in each ACTION. Perhaps acting itself is an act of worship: contemporary man acts on the body\, drawing a cult from it. We always look for an answer\, asking ourselves if in the end we are a soul that possesses a body. If what we have most sacred is the imagination through which we will be able to identify the soul in the course of life. \ntoPRAY is a show in which urban dances are mixed with contemporary gestures\, producing a dance out of the box\, out of time. The choreographic writing draws from multicultural calligraphy\, resulting in a universal language: like the story of the soul of man. toPRAY is a human path built and lived with ups and downs\, similar to the path of growth of a man. We dancers were asked more questions\, to which we answered with gestures and movements; they were questions that contained complex\, personal concepts. But in addition to the intense emotional value of personal moments\, in the beginning\, there is a particular intimacy between us dancers on stage and the choreographer\, in moments of extreme choreographic rigor\, which is characterized by the show throughout its duration. \n \nDéjà Donné \nThe contemporary dance company Déjà Donné was founded in 1997 in Prague; in 2000 the head office moved to Umbria where an intense activity of creation and circulation of shows began\, both in Italy and abroad. SUMMARY:MM Contemporary Dance Company
DESCRIPTION:OPEN REHEARSAL_PULCINELLA\nIn making his own version of Pulcinella\, Michele Merola respects the past\, but moves in his own way. SUMMARY:MM Contemporary Dance Company
\nCREDITS \nConcept Michele Merola and Cristina Spelti\nChoreography Michele Merola\nMusic Igor Stravinskij\, Stefano Corrias\nSet and lighting design Cristina Spelti\nCostume design Patricia Villirillo\nPerformers MM Contemporary Dance Company (9 danzatori)\nProduction MM Contemporary Dance Company\n \nINSIGHTS \nThe first performance of the ballet Pulcinella was at the Paris Opera in 1920\, by Djagilev’s Ballets Russes; the music\, by Igor Stravinskij\, was inspired by pages by G. B. Pergolesi and other authors of the 17th and 18th centuries. The composer gives his own sign to the dancing pages in themselves\, like so much music of the 18th century: in tune with the subject\, he makes a gentle caricature of it\, celebrated for the richness of its rhythms and the freshness of its harmonies\, exalted by Leonide Massine\, choreographer\, and Pablo Picasso\, for his scenes and costumes. \nIn creating his own version\, Michele Merola respects the past\, and the great masterpieces produced on the subject\, but moves on his own path. The soundtrack is composed of some pieces of the ballet and the “excursions” made by the composer Stefano Corrias. The contamination of the original score is dictated by the need to have more intimate moments\, more bare from the musical point of view\, to be able to clarify who is really Pulcinella: the choreographer wanted to highlight in this work the solitary\, melancholy and dramatic side of the Neapolitan standard bearer. \n“Pulcinella – says the choreographer – is a person\, is an image\, is a thought of loneliness. It is a thought that never dies\, in fact in choreography this character seems to die several times\, but then always rises\, a sign of his continuous possibility of rebirth\, because the freedom that Punchinello carries within him\, all that is new\, all that is freedom\, all that is truth could be suffocated\, but always comes back to life.” \nIn the predominant black and white of the costumes and the scene\, only a hint of red appears: it is Pulcinella\, whose heart beats beyond any attempt to make him die\, and continues to pulsate\, for better or for worse\, in black and white. What remains\, in this ballet\, of its first edition? Once the story has been reduced to the essential\, and the accessory characters have been eliminated\, Pimpinella\, the young girl loved by Pulcinella\, the Wizard\, who uses light as a guide to find a way out in the course of history\, and the two couples of lovers remain. The choreographer did not want to follow the plot built in 1920\, but focuses on the personality of the protagonist and the main events that revolve around him: his love for Pimpinella\, the alleged death\, the ending\, a symbol of rebirth. \n“The final scene – says Merola – in which Punchinello once again wears his hat\, which he often has inside the show\, but which he often takes off to be similar to the rest of society\, symbolizes his choice: he realizes that being as society would like takes him nowhere\, and then chooses to be himself\, chooses the truth.” \nMM CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY \nMM Contemporary Dance Company is a contemporary dance company directed by choreographer Michele Merola\, founded in 1999 as a center of production of events and shows and as a promoter of exhibitions and workshops with the aim of encouraging exchanges and alliances between Italian and international artists\, witnesses and spokesmen of contemporary culture.\nThe company’s repertoire\, based in Reggio Emilia\, is rich and varied\, thanks to the works of Michele Merola and the creations signed by European and Italian choreographers such as Mats Ek\, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano\, Karl Alfred Schreiner\, Emanuele Soavi\, Enrico Morelli. \nIn 2010 the MM Contemporary Dance Company won the prestigious Dance & Dance Award as the best emerging company and today\, it is\, to all intents and purposes\, a reality of excellence in Italian dance\, with a consolidated activity of shows throughout the country. For some years now it has conquered an international market with shows in European and non-European countries (Korea\, Colombia\, Canada\, Germany\, Russia\, Morocco…).\nIn 2017 MM Contemporary Dance Company won the Premio Europaindanza 2017 – Premio al Merito alla choreografia\, for the show Bolero by Michele Merola.\nFor the three-year period 2018-20\, MM Contemporary Dance Company is an associate company of the InDanza Circuit of Trentino Alto Adige. \nMMCDC is supported by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities\, Emilia-Romagna Region\, Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto\, Teatro Asioli di Correggio\, ASD Progetto Danza. From Combustioni\, a show created to celebrate the reopening of the Teatro Continuo in Burri\, to Luminare Minus\, commissioned by the Science Museum of Milan\, to continue with Funambolia\, which inaugurates the dance season of the Teatro Gerolamo in 2017.\nThen again Hopper Variations\, En écoutant du Schumann\, on stage at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow\, Balthus and Variations for Five\, the latter programmed at the Al Bustan festival in Beirut in 2019. Different contexts and creative impulses\, for a single creative vocation. \nIn retracing her choreographic work since 2004\, Shortcut does not choose the path of chronological exhibition\, but creates a narrative based on affinity; the same that links the choreographer to the beautiful music specially written by the composer Giampaolo Testoni. Each extract from the main works is mirrored in the next\, following a reasoned thread. \nEmanuela Tagliavia \nDancer and choreographer\, she trained in Italy and then perfected her skills in contemporary dance in France. Her works have been performed in some of the most important theatres and festivals in Italy and abroad (Teatro alla Scala in Milan\, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and Teatro Bolshoi in Moscow\, Piccolo Teatro and Teatro Strehler in Milan\, to name a few). In recent years he has worked with Gabriele Salvatores for the production of La Gazza Ladra (Milan\, Teatro alla Scala\, 2017) and with Liliana Cavani for the staging of Alì Baba e i Quaranta Ladroni (Milan\, Teatro alla Scala\, 2018). In 2019 he curated the Gala di Danza organized by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto at Teatro Diego Fabbri in Forlì. She created the choreographic movements of the show Qohelet\, which was staged with great success at the Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan (February 2019); she participated in the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut\, with young dancers from the Scuola di Ballo Accademia Teatro alla Scala. In the summer of 2019 he created the choreography for the Dolce & Gabbana AltaSartoria event held in Sciacca\, Sicily. In September his choreographies were the protagonists of the opening show of the 24th World Energy Forum held in Abu Dhabi. Numerous are the awards and recognitions to his career and his creations. She is artistic director of the contemporary dance festival “Pulchra minima” at the Teatro Gerolamo in Milan.\nSince 1999 Emanuela Tagliavia has taught contemporary dance at the Dance School of the Accademia delle Arti e Mestieri of the Teatro alla Scala. SUMMARY:Repeat / Harleking
DESCRIPTION:Fabrizio Di Franco\, very young dancer of Agora Coaching Project\, presents his first choreography Repeat. Following Harleking\, a bizarre\, ironic and caricatured duet by the talented duo Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi inspired by the mask of Harlequin. \nRepeat \nChoreography Fabrizio Di Franco\nDancers Fabrizio Di Franco\, Matilde Gherardi\nMusic AGF\, Olafur Arnalds\, Basstrio Mosfellsdals \nProduction Agora Coaching Project \nHarleking \nBy and with Ginevra Panzetti\, Enrico Ticconi\nSound design Demetrio Castellucci\nLight design Annegret Schalke\nTechnical direction Paolo Tizianel\nCostume Ginevra Panzetti\, Enrico Ticconi\nPromotion Marco Villari\nVideo documentation Ettore Spezza\nIllustrations and graphic Ginevra Panzetti \nWith the support of VAN (IT) // Tanzfabrik\, Berlin (DE) // PACT Zollverein\, Essen (DE) // NAOcrea – Ariella Vidach AiEP\, Milano (IT) // KommTanz – Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni\, Rovereto (IT) // L’arboreto – Teatro Dimora\, Mondaino (IT) // AtelierSì\, Bologna (IT) // C.L.A.P.Spettacolodalvivo\, Brescia (IT)\nFurther supports Cronopios – Teatro Petrella\, Longiano (IT) // Vera Stasi – Progetti per la Scena\, Tuscania (IT) // Network Anticorpi XL (IT) 2018 \nHARLEKING is a demon with multiple identities.\nHis body expression resembles that of Harlequin of the Commedia dell’Arte\, a sly servant moved by an insatiable hunger. HARLEKING’s mode of communication has a specific hypnotic quality in which its contents\, often extreme and contradictory\, merge to create a fluid\, metamorphic system wherein anything can happen\, yet all is blurred. It is reminiscent of the Grotesques\, ancient wall decorations\, in which monstrous figures emerge and blend in with elegant ornamental volutes.\nFigures\, which\, although can evoke amusement\, do not elicit any joy. \nThe work premiered in July 2018 in the frame of Open Spaces Sommer Tanz at Tanzfabrik Berlin and it has been presented among several European dance festivals and theatres. In 2019 it has been selected by the Aerowaves Twenty19 for the Spring Forward 2019 and the New Italian Dance (NID) Platform. \npanzettiticconi.com \n

DESCRIPTION:OPEN REHEARSAL_SALVO LOMBARDO\nBetween parody and attempt to bring on stage those dances really contemporary and anthropological as the latest generation disco dance\, Salvo Lombardo photographs a moment of extreme topicality\, a youthful and alienating nocturnal excerpt\, creating a funny but deeply tragic documentary in which the human seems to cancel itself to the rhythm of digital beats. (Benedetta Colasanti – Recensito) \nSalvo Lombardo \nSalvo Lombardo is an italian perfomer\, coreographer and director who bases his work on a constant research of a relation between theatre\, dance and visual art. He lives and works in Rome. He is the artistic director of the Chiasma Company whose works were presented in the main Festivals and Theatres in Italy. \nIn 2015-2016 he was resident choreographer at Anghiari Dance Hub where he worked at the project “Casual Bystanders” based on a choreographic pattern representing an archive of “not-extraordinary” gestures proceeding from kinetic fragments of common people observed in public places. From 2016 till today Salvo Lombardo is supported by the Festival Fabbrica Europa that produces many of his dance pieces. From 2017 he is one of the associated artists of the Festival Oriente Occidente\, the principal co-producer of the performance “Present Continuous” inspired by a memory system of gestures which stem from a night’s work at a music club and also the interactive installation in augmented reality titled “Reappearances” conceived for the MART Museum of Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto\, involving the participation of the local community. \nIn 2017 he is guest choreographer at Aura Dance Theatre of Kaunas (LIT) for which he conceived the performance “Twister” studying the relationship between gestures memory\, play and sociality. In 2018 he worked on the project “L’Esemplare Capovolto”\, aims to generate a series of performative actions\, installations\, conferences\, workshops and the creation of the show “Excelsior”\, co-produced by the Théâtre National de Chaillot of Paris and the Romaeuropa Festival.\n \nsalvolombardo.org \n\n  \n

In this case\, the choreography is “derivative” once again and often calls upon “ready-made” gestures. \nThe performance is based on the shared memory of the same experience – an evening in a night club – during which\, performers observed and appropriated a system of postures\, motor-actions and relational means of those present. In every daily act we produce tracks that attest to our being in the world. We immortalise surrogates of reality\, bodiless mists\, which nail events to an eternal present\, spreading themselves on our behalf and reproducing a fixed condition that excludes any real relationship with their original subject. \nPresent Continuous simply seeks to mark the points of a choreographic narrative that has been developed on the basis of the negotiation of memory through the sharing of reproducible motor sequences. The memory of real movement intertwines with a subjective micro-narrative that reveals the emotional life of the performer in their attempt to reconfigure a shared memory of movement and the experience it created\, which\, exploding from its actual re-enactment\, leaves the “now” and becomes bounded to a future in the making. \nSalvo Lombardo \nSalvo Lombardo is an italian perfomer\, coreographer and director who bases his work on a constant research of a relation between theatre\, dance and visual art. SUMMARY:Patchwork\, un mosaico di storie
DESCRIPTION:Patchwork\, un mosaico di storie\, written and directed by four hands\, is the result of an international co-production.\nThe production has two twin castles\, one Italian and one Canadian. The show\, more visual and expressive than words\, deals with the theme of identity in today’s contemporary and multicultural society by staging the meeting of two characters who express themselves in Italian\, English and French without hindering the understanding of the story. \nCANCELLED PERFORMANCE\nFondazione Nazionale della Danza informs\, according to the DPCM of March 4th\, 2020\, on “Measures to combat and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the entire national territory”\, being evidently of absolute inapplicability the possibility to allow places of theatrical performance to respect the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter\, the SUSPENSION until April 3rd of all activities scheduled in its spaces. \n  \nCredits \nText and direction Cristina Cazzola and Carol Cassistat\nWritten in collaboration with Lucio Diana\nWith Sara Zoia and Daniele Tessaro\nSet and Lighting Design Lucio Diana\nOriginal music Nicolas Jobin \nProduction Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri\, Théâtre du Gros Mécano (Québec City)\, Signs of Childhood Association\, Atrium de Chaville (Paris)\, Musée national des beaux arts du Québec (Paris)\, Museo Benaki (Athens) \nDuration 55′ \nRecommended age from 5 years old and up \nThe inspiration \nWho are we?\nHow do we create our identity? \nWe started with an image.\nA patchwork blanket\, a courtepointe as they call it in Québec\, made of many different pieces of fabric. \nOften woven by several hands\, it can tell the story of a person\, an event\, an entire family or a generation. It speaks of the identity made up of many different fragments\, it speaks of us\, and of our being multicultural\, of humanity that is increasingly multicolored and multi-ethnic\, but with intertwining roots. \nFamily stories and family trees that can only contain and be the fruit of many journeys. An identity generated by encounters and clashes\, the fruit of a thousand migrations.\nAnd so our private history\, our identity\, a mosaic of stories that starting from Africa with our ancestor Lucy the first Australopithecus\, retraces the great journeys of humanity. \nThe plot \nTwo characters meet in a place without space or time. \nHe’s an anthropologist\, she’s a seamstress and they meet for work in a place of passage\, an airport. \nThey do not speak the same language but by communicating with looks\, gestures and simple words using the narrative power of objects they create a common language that makes communication possible and fun. \nEvery detail of their luggage tells something\, some objects bring them together\, others surprise them and so they begin to tell about family trips and adventures. The meeting soon turns into a theatrical game where adults and children are involved in the reflection on two questions that have always accompanied us: who we are and where we come from. \nAn amusing journey back through the branches of family trees and the migrations that have built the history of humanity\, to discover that\, since ever\, our identity is a patchwork\, part of a larger story where each of us is a unique and indispensable piece. \n\n\n
