The song invites to a sweet disorientation to idealise a time without time and a space without borders. Camilla Monga works with the musician Federica Furlani to create a polyphony of images that are always new and unrepeatable\, creating an elsewhere that is outlined minute by minute before the eyes of the spectator. Each musical framework guides the talented MMCDC dancers\, giving each one few features that mark their characters; while closely connected actions provoke chain reactions\, outlining increasingly meditative and ethereal panoramas. With Round Trip we enter into an analysis of different identities\, of the encounter with the other and its many facets. Individuals engaged in a unique and multiple research confront and identify themselves\, mixing again\, not caring about any classification. The gestures and the music remind us of the ritual\, of an archaic world\, lost forever. The dancers alternate the physicality of the ‘dancing body’ with an intimate interpretation of the most spiritual part of man. \n\nIn Michele Merola’s dance there is always a time where the human tension and the truth about feelings get exalted: dance brings out the aching sense of life. His dance goes straight to heart\, shaped as knife\, without intermissions and it breaks our self-confidence. La metà dell’ombra is the last leg of this path: it’s structured on human male bodies and it can be considered as a journey to\nexplore the mystery of the sacred in us. The choreography moves in a continuous tension between the sense of expiation\, expressed with gestures lacerating\, self-punitive\, and the hope of redemption and the liberation of the body. There is a constant movement between atonement\, punishment\, hope and freedom. The feelings are mixed\, opposed and drawn in a collective ritual ending. Each frame we see and each choral dance performed exalt the human presence. The landscape described by Dante Alighieri’s verses takes shape and body in the choreography Dante Solo Inferno\, created by Monica Casadei for the Compagnia Artemis Danza and inspired by the first cantica of the Commedia. \n \nCREDITS \nChoreography Monica Casadei\nMusic Franz Liszt\, Giuseppe Verdi\, Alfred Schnittke\, Krzysztof Penderecki\nMusical arrangements Luca Vianini\nProduction Compagnia Artemis Danza\nIn partnership with Ravenna Festival\n \nSynopsis \nIn this performance\, conceived to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Poet’s death\, the dancers redraw the contours of an inhospitable land\, where torments of the damned serve their sentence. The choreographic movements become a mirror of the torment\, the bodies are shaped in torsions\, syncopes\, contractures\, insoluble weaves. And yet\, as in Dante’s Inferno\, there are traces of a decayed humanity\, souls that preserve memory of themselves and their past\, individualities that emerge like spots of colour in the indistinct magma\, out of a desire to tell the outside observer about their lives before death. \nSome of them cross the stage still wearing their worn-out earthly clothes\, remnants of a nobility that is no longer worth anything\, where everyone is equal. Others take shape through the reading of Dante’s verses. Paolo and Francesca da Rimini\, Pier Della Vigna in the forest of suicides\, Tiresia\, Ulysses\, Minos… characters that Monica Casadei chooses to investigate the human soul\, in a path that from the awareness of sin goes beyond condemnation\, towards compassion and acceptance of human nature. There is no lack of moments of sacredness\, such as a dance by dervishes in their ample red robes\, spinning moved by the wind. \nMusic contributes to making the journey even more intense: Franz Liszt’s Dante-Symphonie\, inspired by the composer’s reading of Dante’s Commedia\, and Lacrymosa from Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem\, meet pages by contemporary composers such as Alfred Schnittke and Krzysztof Penderecki\, and the sound atmospheres of Luca Vianini.\nDante Solo Inferno is a constantly evolving journey\, part of a wider project of exploration by Monica Casadei of Dante’s Inferno\, which has also taken shape in her creations Ombre and Frammenti di Inferno. \n  \nCOMPAGNIA ARTEMIS DANZA \nOriginally from Ferrara\, Monica Casadei graduates in philosophy cum laude writing a dissertation on dance in Plato’s system. After a career as a professional acrobatic gymnast\, she takes to studying classic and modern dance\, at first in Italy\, then in London\, and eventually in Paris where she gets to meet choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz and the Master André Cognard Hanshi So shihan\, with whom she still practices the martial art of Aikido. \nIn France\, she founds the company Artemis Danza\, with which she later moves to Italy\, in 1997\, giving birth to a fervent production activity that amounts\, nowadays\, to over 40 original creations. \nFrom 1998 to 2007\, the Company is part of an artist residency at Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma whereas\, from 2014 up to this day\, it partakes in an artist residency at Teatro Comunale in Bologna. The little theatre of human misery: body and voice at the service of a painful chorus that echoes “The Frogs” by Aristophanes\, or perhaps an operetta by Offenbach\, or the famous Brechtian “Opera”. Staticity and immobility in response to the imminent\, evident collapse (physical\, political\, social\, environmental…). The choreography deals with various problems of the individual in contemporary society. The virtual reality\, which the world pushes us to seek and create\, contrasts with the loneliness present in everyday life. The problem of one’s identity outside of the digital self-presentation\, the desire for “real” encounters and connections\, as well as the omnipresence of fears and their influence on our actions\, form the foundations of this piece. \nIvan Alboresi shows restless protagonists who are constantly searching for themselves\, for support\, for security. But at the same time the fear of connecting with the other\, of losing control or being rejected. He contrasts this restlessness with moments of almost catatonic torpor. To dance the soul\, the ancient one and the one of today\, is to place movement and form at the service of necessity\, urgency\, emotion and soul” M.C. \nOriginally from Ferrara and graduated with honors with a thesis on Plato and dance\, Monica Casadei\, after a competitive career in rhythmic gymnastics\, devoted herself to the study of classical and modern dance\, first in Italy\, then in London\, finally in Paris\, where she met the choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz and the master André Cognard Hanshi So shihan\, with whom she still practices the martial art of Aikido. He founded the company Artemis Danza in France\, with which he moved to Italy in 1997\, creating an intense production activity that counts\, to date\, over forty original creations. From 1998 to 2007 the company is in residence at the Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma\, while from 2014 it is in artistic residence at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. An overview of stereotypes\, of already seen\, already said\, acted upon. The little theatre of human misery: body and voice at the service of a painful chorus that echoes “The Frogs” by Aristophanes\, or perhaps an operetta by Offenbach\, or the famous Brechtian “Opera”. Staticity and immobility in response to the imminent\, evident collapse (physical\, political\, social\, environmental…). We can’t do anything about it\, too late\, game over; we watch helplessly\, we take note of it\, we shrug\, sigh and turn around again. \nIn the question “what is happening around us?” lies the genesis of this creation: a deepening of the international current affairs and the search for connections between the present forms of protest – rarely based on the idea of human evolution and revolution – and the historical Enlightenment (enlightened) vision\, which puts Culture and Art at the centre of change.\nA creation that once again leads the Company to investigate contemporary social issues\, through an amphibious language of strong impact and a complex dramaturgical level in support of the work. \nC&C Company \nC&C Company was born from the union between Carlo Massari and Chiara Taviani\, performers with an eclectic background\, in the last decade on international stages as interpreters and creators of different companies. The debut of the first work in 2011: Corpo e Cultura (Body and Culture) immediately highlighted a strong vocation of the Company in search of a necessary physical language\, strongly dramaturgical\, in close relation with contemporary social issues. DESCRIPTION:OPEN REHEARSAL_SALVO LOMBARDO\nBetween parody and attempt to bring on stage those dances really contemporary and anthropological as the latest generation disco dance\, Salvo Lombardo photographs a moment of extreme topicality\, a youthful and alienating nocturnal excerpt\, creating a funny but deeply tragic documentary in which the human seems to cancel itself to the rhythm of digital beats. (Benedetta Colasanti – Recensito) \nSalvo Lombardo \nSalvo Lombardo is an italian perfomer\, coreographer and director who bases his work on a constant research of a relation between theatre\, dance and visual art. He lives and works in Rome. He is the artistic director of the Chiasma Company whose works were presented in the main Festivals and Theatres in Italy. \nIn 2015-2016 he was resident choreographer at Anghiari Dance Hub where he worked at the project “Casual Bystanders” based on a choreographic pattern representing an archive of “not-extraordinary” gestures proceeding from kinetic fragments of common people observed in public places. From 2016 till today Salvo Lombardo is supported by the Festival Fabbrica Europa that produces many of his dance pieces. From 2017 he is one of the associated artists of the Festival Oriente Occidente\, the principal co-producer of the performance “Present Continuous” inspired by a memory system of gestures which stem from a night’s work at a music club and also the interactive installation in augmented reality titled “Reappearances” conceived for the MART Museum of Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto\, involving the participation of the local community. \nIn 2017 he is guest choreographer at Aura Dance Theatre of Kaunas (LIT) for which he conceived the performance “Twister” studying the relationship between gestures memory\, play and sociality. In 2018 he worked on the project “L’Esemplare Capovolto”\, aims to generate a series of performative actions\, installations\, conferences\, workshops and the creation of the show “Excelsior”\, co-produced by the Théâtre National de Chaillot of Paris and the Romaeuropa Festival.\n​ \nsalvolombardo.org \n\n  \n

Open rehearsals are unique moments in which you can experience the backstage of a performance\, dialogue with the artists and surprise yourself with the art of dance. \nIn order to ensure greater artistic flexibility to the company\, we cannot communicate the exact program of Aterballetto’s open rehearsals. A few days before the open rehearsal we will give on our website and on social media more information. \nTHE OPEN REHEARSAL HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

DESCRIPTION:OPEN REHEARSAL_PULCINELLA\nIn making his own version of Pulcinella\, Michele Merola respects the past\, but moves in his own way. The soundtrack is composed of some pieces of the ballet and the “excursions” of the composer Stefano Corrias. The contamination of the original score is dictated by the need to have more intimate moments to clarify who Punchinello really is: the choreographer wanted to highlight the solitary and melancholy side of the Neapolitan standard bearer. \n“Pulcinella – says Merola – is also an image of loneliness\, which never dies: it seems to die several times during the show\, but then always gets up\, because his freedom could be suffocated\, but always comes back to life.” \n  \nMM CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY \nMM Contemporary Dance Company – winner in 2010 of the prestigious Dance & Dance Award and in 2017 of the Europaindanza Award – is a reality of excellence in Italian dance\, with a consolidated activity of shows throughout the country.
