SUMMARY:Callas\, Callas\, Callas
DESCRIPTION:The 2023/24 season at the Fonderia opens with CALLAS CALLAS CALLAS\, the new production by COB Compagnia Opus Ballet. \nThe evening pays tribute to the great singer by bringing together for the first time three of the most interesting names in Italian contemporary choreography\, Adriano Bolognino\, Carlo Massari\, and Roberto Tedesco (former dancer of Aterballetto)\, in a contemporary and innovative interpretation of one of the most iconic figures of the twentieth century. \nEach choreographer brings to the stage a different aspect of Maria Callas’s life and work in a true “choreographic triptych”\, an unprecedented fresco in which biographical elements\, musical inspirations\, and iconography merge with contemporary dance to create a new language. \nThe project ideally continues the artistic research path that the company has been pursuing for years\, engaging contemporary dance with classical stories and music\, considered “repertoire” that becomes fertile ground for the creation of something completely different. The classical becomes a lens for viewing the contemporary world\, with the aim of deconstructing and enriching the repertoire to speak about a lived\, tangible reality that is close to us. \nCredits\n“`html \nCALLAS CALLAS CALLAS\nCoreography by Adriano Bolognino\, Carlo Massari\, and Roberto Tedesco\nA production by COB Compagnia Opus Ballet\nIn coproduction with Fondazione Festival La Versiliana \nArtistic Direction Rosanna Brocanello\nArtistic Consultant Laura Pulin\nLight Designer Giacomo Ungari\nRepetiteur Giulia Orlando\nOrganization Margherita Fantoni\nDistribution Laura Montagna \nWorld Premiere July 12\, 2023\, Teatro “La Versiliana” (Marina di Pietrasanta) \n\n/DIVINA \nChoreography Adriano Bolognino\nPerformers Giuliana Bonaffini\, Aura Calarco\, Sofia Galvan\, Ginevra Gioli\, Gaia Mondini\nChoreography Assistant Rosaria Di Maro\nMusic by Vito Pizzo\nCostumes by Tns Brand \n/STANDPOINTS\nChoreography Roberto Tedesco\nPerformers Matheus Alves De Oliveira\, Giuliana Bonaffini\, Aura Calarco\, Emiliano Candiago\, Ginevra Gioli\, Gaia Mondini\, Riccardo Papa\, Frederic Zoungla\nMusic by Giuseppe Villarosa\nCostumes by Opificio della Moda e del Costume \n/TOUJOURS LA MORT\nOriginal Creation by Carlo Massari\nPerformers Matheus Alves De Oliveira\, Aura Calarco\, Emiliano Candiago\, Riccardo Papa\, Frederic Zoungla\nMusic Editing by Luca Martone\nSupport for Stage Outfits Giovanna Ficaccio \n\nTotal Duration: 75 minutes\nA 6-minute intermission is included between the choreographies\n“` \nCallas\, Callas\, Callas \nMaria Callas\, “The Divine”\, was endowed with “three voices\,” it was said\, due to her exceptional vocal range. Described as having the talent of a “dramatic coloratura soprano\,” an 19th-century term for her unique timbre. A charismatic woman and artist\, possessing a powerful and theatrical voice\, she was skilled in blending singing and acting\, capable of fiery and engaging interpretations in embodying both seductive and tragic female characters. Her name is engraved in the history of opera. And beyond. Art and style\, triumphs and acclaim\, glamour and personal affairs intertwined in the life of Maria Callas\, “The Divine”. She is also remembered for her diva tantrums\, the mystery of her drastic weight loss\, chronic insomnia\, the child she never had\, her friendship with Pasolini\, and\, above all\, her ill-fated liaison with shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis\, who left his wife for her\, only to abandon her and marry Jackie Kennedy. Callas died\, suffering and alone\, in her Paris apartment on September 16\, 1977\, for causes not yet determined. On the centenary of her birth\, amidst tributes already celebrated and others underway\, that of the COB Compagnia Opus Ballet directed by Rosanna Brocanello\, holds a particular significance also for the originality that inspired it: entrusting three young\, and already established\, contemporary choreographers to create an evening production that reflects their personal vision of the legendary artist\, without intending to recount her life story. Three different perspectives\, therefore\, three approaches and renditions in dance that the beautiful title Callas Callas Callas already highlights. A title that also serves as an invitation\, for the audience\, to discover or rediscover within the folds of movement or the ensemble’s choreography\, among electronic sounds or fragments of famous arias scattered throughout the choreographic architecture\, within a light or a costume that shapes gestures and postures\, their own Callas. Or perhaps a new\, unseen one\, suggested\, evoked\, imprinted in the atmosphere and memory by abstract dance. Surely\, three famous arias will be recognized\, whether subtly hinted or prominently displayed: from Tosca\, Norma\, and Carmen. \n\n STANDPOINTS by Roberto Tedesco (ph. Paolo Bonciani)\nRoberto Tedesco merges the notes of Vissi d’arte with the electronic musical score composed by Giuseppe Villarosa\, incorporating also snippets of interviews and voice interferences. In the famous aria’s lyrics\, extracted from Tosca\, the Calabrian choreographer identifies the moment when Callas is at death’s door\, wanting to reaffirm to everyone that she lived deeply for art and love as simply a person\, a woman\, before being considered a diva. It is mainly in the sound structure that the choreographer imbues his vision of Callas’s life\, almost wanting to prepare the audience – quoting George Balanchine – to “see the music and listen to the dance.” Tedesco weaves an imaginary dramaturgy with an almost chronological musical journey\, from the years in New York where Callas was born\, to her Greek origins; from Italy\, which\, with La Scala Theatre\, brought her the greatest success\, to France where she eventually retired. Vague jazz sounds initially allude to America\, then those of the Bouzouki to Greece\, and a 1970s pop song to the mood of suffering that accompanied her. On a gradually increasing techno rhythm\, a choral dance pulsates within the bodies – male and female\, a single entity -\, dressed in stylized \nCOB COMPAGNIA OPUS BALLET \nDirected by Rosanna Brocanello since its foundation\, the company is made up of a stable core of professional dancers and to date has produced a vast repertoire of productions. The latest include: Vivaldi’s Le Quattro stagioni (2020) by choreographer Aurelie Mounier and with music performed live by the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto; RIGHT. La Sagra della Primavera (2021) by Carlo Massari in a co-production with C&C Company and Teatro Stabile del Veneto\, Oriente Occidente Dance Festival\, Associazione Culturale Mosaico Danza/Interplay Festival (Project winner of the CollaborAction XL 2020 action Network Anticorpi XL coordinated by the Ass. Cantieri Danza supporto per la danza d’autore); Il labirinto. SUMMARY:Night Stories
DESCRIPTION:MM Contemporary Dance Company – Short Stories – cor. Michele Merola\, foto di Creativite \nNIGHT STORIES is the new evening by MM Contemporary Dance Company composed of Quarto Canto by Enrico Morelli\, Short Stories by Michele Merola and Skirk by Adriano Bolognino. \nProduction: MM Contemporary Dance Company \nCo-production Skirk: Comune di Bassano del Grappa – Operaestate Festival Veneto \nWEIRDO_Primo Studio \nChoreography: Enrico Morelli \nOriginal Music: Giuseppe Villarosa \nLighting: Gessica Germini \nCostumes: Nuvia Valestri \nAssistant Choreographer: Paolo Lauri \nPerformers: Filippo Begnozzi\, Emiliana Campo\, Lorenzo Fiorito\, Mario Genovese\, Matilde Gherardi\, Fabiana Lonardo\, Alice Ruspaggiari\, Rossana Samele\, Nicola Stasi\, Giuseppe Villarosa\, Leonardo Zannella \nDuration: 25 minutes \nThe feeling of inadequacy: the only true obstacle to any form of relationship\, including the one with oneself. Who\, in their life\, has never been pervaded by it? Often\, this state stems from the desire to meet others’ expectations: feeling the weight of risk\, fear of failure\, and judgment. Starting from these feelings\, Enrico Morelli presents an initial choreographic study\, drawing inspiration not only from his personal experience but also from that of the performers\, to whom he posed the same question he asks himself: “When do you feel inadequate and out of place\, how do you feel?” \nSHORT STORIES \nChoreography: Michele Merola\nMusic composed and live performed by Natalia Abbascià\nCostumes: Nuvia Valestri\nChoreography assistant: Paolo Lauri\nDancers: Emiliana Campo\, Lorenzo Fiorito\, Mario Genovese\, Fabiana Lonardo\, Nicola Stasi\, Giuseppe Villarosa\nRunning time: 28′ \nShort Stories involves the dancing bodies in a continuous design\, built on repetitions and differences\, moments of solos\, duets and choral scores\, a succession of short stories\, pictures generated by the sound of live music: Natalia Abbascià\, who will play live\, has created a soundtrack that brings together evocative lyrical parts for violin and solo voice. The dancers will make the audience lose the sense of the boundary separating audience and stage space.\nThe pieces that make up the work will be articulated as an expressive landscape that will leave to the subjectivity of the audience the intimate reading of the feelings that the dance and music suggest. \nSKRIK \nChoreography: Adriano Bolognino\nMusic: Max Richter\nLighting design: Gessica Germini\nCostumes: Nuvia Valestri\nChoreography assistant: Rosaria Di Maro\nRepetiteur: Paolo Lauri\nDancers Emiliana Campo\, Lorenzo Fiorito\, Mario Genovese\, Matilde Gherardi\, Fabiana Lonardo\, Alice Ruspaggiari\, Rossana Samele\, Nicola Stasi\, Giuseppe Villarosa\, Leonardo Zannella\nRunning time: 25′ \nCreation in the framework of Prove d’Autore – azione del Network Anticorpi XL. \nAdriano Bolognino’s new work for the MM Contemporary Dance Company\, entitled Skrik\, is inspired by the painting The Scream by Edvard Munch\, a work that led the choreographer to investigate the theme of tragedy\, anguish and the littleness of man in the immensity of the universe. The choreographer himself explains: “The dull cry of the painting – of which I have decided to keep the Norwegian title “Skrik”\, which phonetically recalls an unpleasant sound\, a bump\, a shock – seems to deform the landscape\, giving us instability and fear\, while preserving its immense beauty. Clinging to this dualism that I feel close to me\, I wanted to create a dancing moment that could be a breathless accumulation of all the discontent of these last few years\, but also reach the eyes of the audience as a regenerating waterfall.” \nhttps://vimeo.com/759985888/37ecc35336 \n  \nMM Contemporary Dance Company \nThe MM Contemporary Dance Company is a contemporary dance company directed by choreographer Michele Merola\, founded in 1999 as a production centre for events and performances and as a promoter of festivals and workshops with the aim of fostering exchanges and alliances between Italian and international artists\, witnesses and spokesmen of contemporary culture. \nThe repertoire of the company\, which is based in Reggio Emilia\, is rich and varied\, thanks to works by Michele Merola and creations by European and Italian choreographers such as Maguy Marin\, Mats Ek\, Mauro Bigonzetti\, Thomas Noone\, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano\, Karl Alfred Schreiner\, Silvia Gribaudi\, Eugenio Scigliano\, Emanuele Soavi\, Enrico Morelli\, Daniele Ninarello\, Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi\, Roberto Tedesco\, Camilla Monga\, and Adriano Bolognino. \nIn 2010\, the MM Contemporary Dance Company won the prestigious Danza&Danza Award as the best emerging company and today\, it is\, to all intents and purposes\, a reality of excellence in Italian dance\, with a consolidated activity of performances throughout the country. For some years now\, it has conquered an international market with performances in European and non-European countries (Korea\, Colombia\, Canada\, Germany\, Russia\, Morocco\, Belgium\, Spain\, Slovenia\, Hungary\, Czech Republic…). \nIn 2017\, the MM Contemporary Dance Company won the 2017 Europaindanza Prize – Award of Merit for Choreography\, for the performance Bolero by Michele Merola. In 2022\, MMCDC won the Danza&Danza Award for the best Italian production with the performance Ballade (chor. Mauro Bigonzetti\, Enrico Morelli). On 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022 MMCDC was featured on RAI 1 in Roberto Bolle’s show “Danza con me” performing choreographies by Mauro Bigonzetti and Lorca Massine. \nSince 2018\, the MM Contemporary Dance Company has been an associated company of the Trentino Alto Adige InDanza Circuit. \nMMCDC is supported by the Ministry of Culture\, Emilia-Romagna Region\, Municipality of Reggio Emilia\, Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto\, Centro Permanente Danza/Reggio Emilia. \nInfo & Tickets \nTICKETS\nFull price: 10 euro\nReduced for under 30\, dance schools\, Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa\, over 65\, CRAL members Municipality of Reggio Emilia: 6 euro\nReduced price under 8: 3 euro \nPURCHASING TICKETS \nTickets can be purchased online on www.biglietteriafonderia39.it. \nThe ticket office service at the Fonderia is open from 7.30 pm. \nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS \nMobile and whatsapp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it \n\n

SUMMARY:Davidson
DESCRIPTION:Balletto Civile – Davidson – ph. \nCredits \nfreely adapted from the screenplay Il Padre Selvaggio by Pier Paolo Pasolini \nConcept and dramaturgy: Maurizio Camilli\nChoreography: Michela Lucenti\nWith Maurizio Camilli and Confident Frank\nLighting design: Vincenzo De Angelis\nSound design: Andrea Gianessi\nAssistant director: Ambra Chiarello\nAssistant to choreography: Francesco Collavino \nProduction Balletto Civile\, in collaboration with ERT Emilia Romagna Teatro / Teatro Nazionale / focus CARNE \nwith the support of ATER (Modena) and ICK (Amsterdam) and the Italian Ministry of Culture MIC \nDavidson \n– What is poetry\, sir?” asks Davidson\n– But you know it! – says the professor.\n– No I do not know! – protests the boy shaking his curly head.\n– Yes you know!\n– No I do not know!\n– You are an African\, you are immersed in poetry!\n– No\, poetry is a white thing.\n– Sing a song from your village!\nDavidson begins to sing one of his village songs.\nBut the singing is in his head closely connected with the dance. And then\, singing\, he starts dancing.\nA long song\, a long dance.\n– Here\, this is poetry!\n \nBalletto Civile – Davidson – ph. Donato Aquaro \nIl Padre Selvaggio (The Savage Father) is an outline of a screenplay written in 1963 by Pier Paolo Pasolini and published posthumously in the fateful 1975. The director did not find financers\, frightened by his freedom of thought\, and the film was never made. It is the story of Davidson\, a sensitive and acute black boy from an African tribe and his encounter with a progressive and tormented teacher – a frontier figure\, alter ego of Pasolini himself – who tries to give his boys a modern and anti-colonialist education. Above all\, this suspended work recounts the conflict between the teacher and Davidson\, wary of the new method and culture of the new teacher precisely because he is the smartest. The heart of this contrast is the dilemma of the relationship between blacks and whites\, the problem of freedom and democracy\, of the tension towards the other than oneself. \nA short and intense piece of writing\, with a strong political and not just poetic value\, a sort of canvas that escapes definitions\, conceived above all as a succession of images and indications of actions. A hybrid screenplay that mixes codes and languages and precisely in the absence of its realization offers great expressive potential. \nAn indefinite form that presents visual qualities that lend themselves to dance staging\, in a vertigo between literary work and physical theatre.\nBalletto Civile met its Davidson on the outskirts of Modena. \nBalletto Civile – Davidson – ph. Donato Aquaro \nBalletto Civile \nA nomadic group by definition\, animated by a strong ethical tension\, Balletto Civile was founded in 2003 by Michela Lucenti. The creative approach is a research based on movement that emerges from the deep scenic relationship between the artists. It works on a total language where theatre\, dance and original song interact naturally. \nCONTACTS \nMobile and whatsapp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:BODY INTO THE FIGHT - ROMAEUROPA FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:Body into the fight is the performance curated by Diego Tortelli and born from the research together with Sony CSL and researcher Ken Endo\, at the center of the project Dis.abile | Iper.abile. The show will be presented for the first time during the Opening Conference of Maker Faire Rome on October 19th. \nThanks to the availability of Romaeuropa Festival\, on the occasion of the Dancing Days\, a selection curated by Francesca Manica as part of the 2023 edition of the Festival\, CCN/Aterballetto will have the opportunity to present the performance again. The event will take place on October 19th at the Mattatoio\, at 10:00 PM. \n\n  \n  \nBODY INTO THE FIGHT \nChoreography and Concept Diego Tortelli Scientific Consulting Ken Endo Music Oneohtrix Point Never Performers Giuseppe Morello and Karim Randé A production by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto In partnership with SONY CSL \nThanks to the research we will conduct with Ken Hendo and SONY CSL\, we will have the opportunity to delve into the idea of prostheses as extensions of the body capable of making it hyper-able. An extension of the body that enhances physical performance and is no longer just a recourse to solve a physical trauma or to hide a disability. It is about extending the idea of ability in a poetic key that can come as close as possible to the definition of a “contemporary body.” Or at least to stimulate a reflection\, capable of entering the theater halls\, with a poetic serving the external world in a way that makes the body surprise us once again. \nDiego Tortelli \n\nDis.abile | Iper.abile \nDis.abile | Iper.abile arises from the desire of the two partners to support a welfare system “focused not only on emergency resolution but centered on promoting the well-being and abilities of individuals\, as an engine of development and employment and a factor of social inclusion\,” according to the definition by urbanist Carolina Giaimo. \nSociety is changing\, and healthcare is facing new needs. In this scenario\, innovation is a challenge. Assistive devices for disabilities\, as well as for daily life\, biomedical devices\, tech accessories\, and digital tools for sports: this and much more will be presented at Maker Faire Rome 2023. \nTHE COLLABORATION WITH SONY CSL \nSony CSL aims to contribute to the future of humanity and the planet by promoting the development of sciences and new technologies and their application in various fields. In particular\, at the Rome laboratory\, directed by Vittorio Loreto\, one of the research lines aims to participate in the redesign of our societies with a transdisciplinary approach that uses creativity as a starting point to address the challenges of today’s society. The comment of Vittorio Loreto from Sony CSL: \n“It is precisely in this direction that the Dis.abile | Iper.abile project takes its first steps. One of our research lines has this very objective: to observe and experiment with the interaction between humans and new technologies (such as AI) and understand how both can benefit from this virtuous exchange\, where humans receive inputs from the machine that help them improve. When we learned about the artistic work of CCN/Aterballetto\, we immediately thought of the technology of Ken Endo\, which is why we are here today ready to present this new project at the most important innovation event in Europe.”

SUMMARY:TACA TÈ / talk
DESCRIPTION:Why do we remember the past and not the future? Do we exist in time or does time exist in us? What does it really mean for time to flow? What links time to our nature as subjects? What do I listen to when I listen to time flowing? \nCarlo Rovelli \nAfter its debut at the Teatro Elfo Puccini in Milan\, as part of the MILANoLtre festival\, TACA TÈ lands at the Fonderia. The show is produced by Compagnia Sanpapié with artistic direction by Lara Guidetti\, in co-production with the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto. \nTaca Tè\, in Emilian dialect meaning “you start\,” is a challenge to the right to exist in time\, played out between two bodies that are chronologically distant but converge in the present of dance. On stage\, Antonio Caporilli and Francesca Lastella confront the grand theme of time and intergenerational encounter through relentless physical debate. Past and future mirror each other in an attempt to build a relationship capable of moving fearlessly along the timeline in both directions. Thus\, the codes of ballroom dancing\, which dictate roles\, melodies\, and spaces\, dissolve in an “other” environment that progressively frees itself from structures to open multiple perspectives on the body and the relationship. The choreography develops a unique and ever-evolving flow of movement where the internal rhythms of the dancers diverge and oppose each other before finding common ground that allows for the transcendence of roles in an ironic\, at times theatrical and surreal game. \nFollowing the performance\, there will be a talk with Elisabetta Donati\, a sociologist and Head of the Culture and Research Department for the Ravasi-Garzanti Foundation\, the scientific partner of the Over Dance project\, which is entirely oriented towards research and policies for aging. \nCREDITS \nA co-production by Sanpapié\, Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto\, and MILANoLTRE \nChoreography: Lara Guidetti \nPerformers: Antonio Caporilli\, Francesca Lastella \nChoreography assistant and costumes: Fabrizio Calanna \nSet design: Maria Croce \nOriginal music and arrangements: Marcello Gori\, Alberto Sansone \nPremiere: September 30\, 2023\, Teatro Elfo Puccini – MILANoLTRE Festival\, Milan (replica October 1) \nCOMPAGNIA SANPAPIÉ / LARA GUIDETTI \nEmiliana\, after competitive acrobatics studies and theatrical acting\, graduated in 2006 as a dancer and choreographer from the Atelier of Theater-Dance at the Paolo Grassi School in Milan\, studying with great national and international masters such as Susanne Linke\, Emio Greco\, André Minvielle\, Franco Brambilla\, Luciana Melis\, Reinhild Hoffman\, Lucinda Childs\, Susanna Beltrami; Yong Min Cho\, and Sarah Taylor. Hein Fonds\, Fonds 21\, Schäxpir Festival \nRunning time: 1h \nHold Your Horses \nHold Your Horses is an energetic and sensitive dance concert about the desire to hold on. De Dansers tell their story with twelve hands\, including the accompanying bodies\, and a few guitars. We see hands grasping\, mistaking\, touching\, taking off\, falling down and plucking guitar strings. We see passion and distance. We don’t see horses\, although we do feel them. We see an unconstrained dance party\, where the cry for help slowly creeps in. \nDe Dansers – Hold Your Horses – ph. Bart Grietens \nHold Your Horses is about the urge to hold on to something or someone\, in a world that is becoming increasingly elusive. With a spectacular\, acrobatic movement language\, six performers trot on with full dedication\, without losing human sensitivity. Suddenly we meet a personal dance solo\, or we abruptly feel the tension between the group and the individual. As one body\, the dancers move in a continuous flow\, propelled by Guy Corneille’s live music full of compelling guitar compositions and moving songs. \nHold Your Horses was partly created in Berlin and premiered in Berlin and Utrecht in September/October 2021. \nDe Dansers \nDe Dansers is a company of dancers and musicians from Utrecht directed by choreographer/dancer Josephine van Rheenen and composer/musician Guy Corneille. Their performances are ‘dance concer ‘dance concerts’\, a meeting of modern dance and live music on the theme of liberation from everything that can make the individual feel stuck\, all in an atmosphere of playful anarchy.\nPerformances that recall the liveliness of children and the almost forgotten desire of adults to indulge in physical contact. \nJosephine van Rheenen // Choreographer She studied dance at the Theaterschool in Amsterdam and\, in parallel\, performed as a dancer with De Dansers. After dancing for five years with De Dansers\, Vloeistof and Breekgoed\, she replaced Wies Merkx as artistic director of De Dansers together with Guy Corneille in 2014. Since then\, she has created performances for children and adults for this company. As a choreographer\, she is dedicated to the search for humanity in dance and a language of movement based on instinct. Openness\, surrender and interaction are the keywords of her works. \nGuy Corneille // Composer and musician He has been the artistic director of De Dansers together with Josephine van Rheenen since 2014. On stage he is a musician and physical performer at the same time. He also participates in the creation of choreographer Josephine van Rheenen’s performances as a composer and musical dramaturg. He studied sociocultural anthropology and has a background in pop with his indie band La Corneille. Her artistic interest is in communicating the physical and emotional experience\, the improvisation typical of pop concerts and the accessibility of any music without being superficial\nor of low quality. In 2017\, Guy Corneille won a VSCD Gouden Krekel for his multi-performance in The Basement (De Dansers / Theater Strahl / Wies Merkx). \nTHEATER STRAHL BERLIN\nTheater Strahl was founded in 1987 in Berlin as an independent theatre group and has been producing contemporary dance performances for young audiences in collaboration with international artists since 2013. With Theatrer Strahl\, young people are involved in the selection and development of performances\, thus actively coming into contact with the theatrical world. \nInfo & Tickets \nTICKETS\nFull price: 6 euro \nPURCHASING TICKETS \nTickets can be purchased online on www.biglietteriafonderia39.it. \nThe ticket office service at the Fonderia is open from 7.30 pm. \nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS \nMobile and whatsapp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it
