SUMMARY:Corpi Violati
DESCRIPTION:OPEN REHEARSAL\nThe choreographic project was born from the desire to focus attention on the theme of violence against women\, and from Artemis Danza’s long-standing collaboration with the Anti-Violence Centres of the D.I.Re Network (Women in the Network Against Violence). \nCREDITS \nChoreography\, direction\, set\, lighting and costume design Monica Casadei\nMusic Luca Vianini\, AAVV \nProduction Compagnia Artemis Danza\nCoproduction Festival di Danza Contemporanea – Teatro Comunale di Ferrara \nWith the support of Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali\, Regione Emilia-Romagna \nSynopsis \n“Never shall Carmen yield! She was born free and she will die free.” “I shall always be free”. These are the hymns to freedom by Carmen\, the protagonist of Prosper Mérimée’s novel and Georges Bizet’s opera\, and Violetta Valéry in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. Figures of women who are symbols of independence of thought\, strength and courage and at the same time fragility in the face of violence and abuse. Their freedom\, as in so many other cases\, is punished\, violated\, with tragic results. The project “Corpi violati” by the Compagnia Artemis Danza\, founded and directed by Monica Casadei\, is inspired by the many stories of gender violence told in literature and melodrama\, only a small number compared to the infinite number of stories in the daily news.\nThe choreographic project stems from the desire to draw attention to the issue of violence against women\, and from Artemis Danza’s long-standing collaboration with the Anti-Violence Centres of the D.I.Re Network (Women in networks against violence). \nCOMPAGNIA ARTEMIS DANZA \nOriginally from Ferrara\, Monica Casadei graduates in philosophy cum laude writing a dissertation on dance in Plato’s system. After a career as a professional acrobatic gymnast\, she takes to studying classic and modern dance\, at first in Italy\, then in London\, and eventually in Paris where she gets to meet choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz and the Master André Cognard Hanshi So shihan\, with whom she still practices the martial art of Aikido. \nIn France\, she founds the company Artemis Danza\, with which she later moves to Italy\, in 1997\, giving birth to a fervent production activity that amounts\, nowadays\, to over 40 original creations. \nFrom 1998 to 2007\, the Company is part of an artist residency at Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma whereas\, from 2014 up to this day\, it partakes in an artist residency at Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Artemis Danza has been invited to the most important Italian theatres and festivals and to several international tours and festivals. \nPivotal elements in Monica Casadei’ s artistic research are the influences from different artistic\, cultural and geographic fields and the exploration of urban spaces and places that turn into stages for performances. \nAlongside the production activity\, Artemis funds\, produces and promotes young choreographers and organizes several activities meant to artistically educate the audience. \nartemisdanza.com \nINFO & TICKETS \nTICKETS\nFull price: 3 euro\nUnder 6: free \nPURCHASING TICKETS\nTickets can be purchased online at www.biglietteriafonderia39.it. \nThe ticket service in the Fonderia is available from h 17.30. \nTickets are not numbered. \nENTRANCE\nYou can enter the Fonderia 15 minutes before the performance\, showing your online purchase.\nAt the entrance\, the temperature will be tested and if the temperature exceeds 37.5°C\, you will not be allowed to enter. DESCRIPTION: \nThe protagonists are the dancers of the Agora Coaching Project\, an advanced dance training project promoted and supported by the MM Contemporary Dance Company and A.S.D Progetto Danza of Reggio Emilia under the artistic direction of Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli. Started in 2010\, the course is now gaining full recognition in the world of European dance and boasts collaborations with internationally renowned teachers and choreographers. \nOn stage Made in Italy 26.0 with choreographies by Giuseppe Spota\, Paolo Mohovich and Michele Merola. \nDancers: Camilla Aiazzi\, Erica Barusco\, Silvia Bellot Romanet\, Agnese Biavati\, Veronica Biondini\, Marek Brafa\, Margherita Cardinalini\, Greta Cecconi\, Filippo Cosso\, Sally Demonte\, Pietro Di Salvo\, Annachiara Gallo\, Sofia Lacava\, Carlotta Lo Piano\, Giorgia Mantovan\, Letizia Melchiorre\, Lorenzo Molinaro\, Marta Monaci\, Martina Pagliari\, Alessio Saccheri\, Rossana Samele\, Viviana Sanfilippo\, Diletta Torelli \n  \nCHOREOGRAPHIES \nSNAPES\nChoreography GIUSEPPE SPOTA\nMusic ATMO music production\nCostume designed by GIUSEPPE SPOTA and made by NUVIA VALESTRI \nWe lose ourselves in a flood of futility\, only to experience moments of true beauty\, lucidity and fragility. In a constant non-listening\, we react to the domino effect triggered by our elected leaders of the moment\, only to find ourselves empty and fragile. \nPICCOLI RITI NOTTURNI\nChoreography PAOLO MOHOVICH\nMusic MUCHAEL KIWANUKA \nThe first walk in a dark wood. The first moonlight swim. The first party\, the first encounters and disencounters (loving or not) … to be a little older the next day…\nNighttime rituals that with hindsight appear small\, but how can we forget the emotion that made them appear immense? \nExcerpts from BOLERO\nChoreography MICHELE MEROLA\nMusic MAURICE RAVEL / STEFANO CORRIAS\nCostume design NUVIA VALESTRI\nAssistant to the choreographer PAOLO LAURI \nA clockwork mechanism of rigorous precision\, Bolero (1928) is still one of the best known and most listened to pieces in the history of music. On stage is a choreographic version of Bolero created by Merola for Agora Coaching Project\, inspired by the one created for MMContemporary Dance Company. The choreographer confronted this obsessive and repetitive music\, trying to understand its identity\, reason and function\, to arrive at his interpretation: at the end of this path the inspiration focused on the inexhaustible range of human relationships. In the choreography\, fears\, repressed desires\, existential shocks that reveal entire universes\, secret ties that exist between people are projected from the inside out\, and irony gives way to fear\, love to disenchantment\, detachment to sharing\, and so on\, between crescendo and diminuendo\, like the music of the Bolero.\nStefano Corrias spoke on this same music\, with the licence and inventiveness that are the true mark of every artist. As a refined and experienced composer\, aware of the demands of the stage\, Corrias created his own musical score\, freely inspired by the original version of Ravel’s piece. The new score was composed by carefully analysing the pages of Bolero\, and integrates perfectly with it. \n  \n \nAGORA COACHING PROJECT \nAGORA COACHING PROJECT is an annual project of improvement in dance for dancers aged between 18 and 22 years\, which is based in Reggio Emilia.\nBorn in 2010\, the course is directed by Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli\, and is promoted and supported by MM Contemporary Dance Company and A.S.D. SUMMARY:Don Juan
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto performs in Modena Don Juan\, the full evening production by Johan Inger. \nThe choreography comes from Inger’s desire to confront Don Juan\, a paradigmatic myth that is both ancient and still contemporary. The original comedy by Tirso de Molina\, Molière\, Bertold Brecht and the play by Suzanne Lilar are just some of the sources of inspiration: Inger and playwright Gregor Acuña-Pohl consulted twenty-five different texts inspired by the character. \nIn the creation we find all the characters of the story\, from Donna Elvira to Donna Anna to Zerlina and Masetto. Don Juan can be considered a Kammerspiel\, with its ability to emphasise nuances and emotions: and in the case of this creation\, dance becomes a magnifying glass for the individual characters\, subtly but clearly revealing the inner world of the men and women on stage. \n

SUMMARY:MicroDanze - Reenactment
DESCRIPTION:In the framework of the Creative Europe An Ideal City project\, on 21 and 22 May the MicroDances will restart their tour from where they left off\, at their partner Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels\, before continuing to Reggio Emilia (10-12 June) and Athens (17 June). \nSome of the MicroDances are at the center of a process of reenactment: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at the creation of an urban version that can interpret the spirit and characteristics of the three cities involved. \nIn Brussels the 8 MicroDances re-enacted are surrounded in the urban landscape of the Tour & Taxis area. The performances are on 21 and 22 May (h 14.00-15.30-17.00). \nDiscover more about the reenactment here. \nMicroDances & Urban Mutations \nIn Brussels\, MicroDances are rooted in an urban landscape that beats at two different rhythms. \nTachycardique in Tour & Taxis\, a trade centre and former industrial freight station located along the canal.\nBiorythmique in the Coulée verte\, a green trail grounded in the living beings and the knowledge buried beneath the metropolis. \nFor two decades\, the land\, which was abandoned at the end of the twentieth century\, has been fuelling the imaginations of town planners\, artists\, architects\, circus performers\, promoters\, gardeners\, and developers.\nA massive urban project will be completed in 2022. The land has the appearance of wrinkled skin. The soil is worn out. Neighbours\, runners\, children\, cyclists\, and pets and their owners are crossing public\, semi-public\, private\, common\, and liminal zones. \nWho are we? A melting pot of Brussels citizens experimenting with body-landscape interactions. Among us\, eight dancers were chosen by Les Halles for their multidisciplinary and outdoor skills. After participating in a European workshop\, they will perform six MicroDances shaped by Italian and Greek choreographers during the Covid crisis. \nEach MicroDance is a microworld\, a dialogue with the open space. A sort of acupuncture in which each point calls for a shared story told by watchmen who weave connections between the spirits of the location\, passers-by\, and the present moment. \nWith their disquieting beauty\, the MicroDances’ journeys from the underground to the surface are an essential part of the vital art of healing our connections to places. \nPauline de La Boulaye \nAn Ideal City curator\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n \nPannenhuis subway station\n\nLet’s explore what’s under our feet\, under Pannenhuis\, Pan’s home… There is no distinction between the living and the dead in the proto city: two spirits open the route.\nMicroDance: Eppur si muove by Francesca Lattuada\n\nPerformers: Carolina Morais Fonseca & Arti Servaes\nStreet workout park\n\nUnder the next bridge\, facing a street workout park\, one singer and one dancer embody the pain of performing: should you prioritise art before life or put art at the service of life?\nMicroDance: Phantasmagoria by Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Sally Demonte\nSinger: Katrishania Renata\nParckfarm greenhouse\n\nAt Parckfarm greenhouse\, we grow the land\, the connections\, and the creativity to restore the resources of the uprooted metropolis. SUMMARY:MicroDanze - urban setting
DESCRIPTION:In the framework of the Creative Europe An Ideal City project\, the MicroDances are in Reggio Emilia on 10-12 June. \nIn the past months some of the MicroDances were at the center of a process of reenactment: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at the creation of an urban version that can interpret the spirit and characteristics of the three cities involved: Reggio Emilia\, Athens and Brussels. \nFind out more about reenactment here. \nIn Reggio Emilia\, the 8 MicroDances that are the subject of the reenactment are immersed in an urban route that starts in the historic centre and stops at the Parco Innovazione on the northern outskirts of the town. \nProtagonists of the performances are the young talents from the advanced training courses Agora Coaching Project and Studio XL. \nIn addition to the urban MicroDances route\, other events are organised from 10 to 12 June to discover public art and the city itself. \nAn Ideal City | Reggio Emilia is curated by Costanza Meli. \nFND_Aterballetto – MicroDanze -Eppur si muove-chor. Francesca Lattuada – dancers Arianna Ganassi\, Antonio Tafuni – Palazzo da Mosto – ph Alice Vacondio \nMicroDances - Urban Route \nEight 8 MicroDances are performed in Reggio Emilia along a path that links its historic city center both physically and symbolically with the new area of urban renewal and development known as Parco Innovazione\, the former industrial area previously occupied by Officine Meccaniche Reggiane. The route winds through the city’s pedestrian island with locations to stop and witness the performances on a path that takes around two hours to complete. \nFor two days (10 and 12 June)\, these MicroDances will be staged in places of strategic significance and areas of passage between the town center and its outskirts on a journey to rediscovering and redefining Reggio Emilia’s social\, cultural\, and historical heritage of the past and present.\nThe presentation throughout the city is at the disposal of both casual audiences that encounter the performances by chance and those who decide to follow its seven itineraries and discover how dance suits the city’s locations of greatest social\, historical\, and future relevance. \nThe Project combines the languages of dance and public art in developing its ideal of the inclusive\, dynamic\, and experimental city\, one that takes part by placing all its various forms of energy into relationship and working for a shared objective. No city is ever ideal\, however: each is real and keeps growing also in the circulation of knowledge and experiences among its citizens\, especially those who consider the dimension of the community and shared space a precious asset. With this aspiration\, An Ideal City – Reggio Emilia decided to create a network of collaborations with institutional partners\, associations\, and local actors and actresses to animate the city’s social and cultural life in different ways. \nIn its urban version\, An Ideal City involves the reenactment of the MicroDances with participation from the Peri-Merulo Conservatory\, the K-Lab community tailory\, the SemiLiberi social carpentry shop set up inside a prison by Cooperativa L’Ovile and the Via Roma Citizens’ Committee in creating essential parts of performance stage design and choreography and others required for the enjoyment of the city’s events and cultural heritage by the public at large. \nCostanza Meli \nAn Ideal City curator \nStages of the route \n1 Teatro San Prospero\nForget Me Not\nChoreography: Konstantinos Rigos\nPerformer: Alessio Saccheri\nMusic: Giorgos Koumendakis\nClarinet: Jennifer Piazza \n2 Piazza Casotti\nTurn the Tide\nChoreography\, set\, costumes: Roberto Tedesco\nPerformers: Marianna Basso\, Federico Russo\nMusic: BowLand \n3 Via Roma\, 22\nEppur si Muove\nChoreography: Francesca Lattuada\nPerformer: Arianna Ganassi\nMusic: Ludwig van Beethoven\, Symphony n. 7\, 2nd movement: Allegretto\nCostume: Bruno Fatalot \n4 Viale Ramazzini\, 9\nFantasmagoria\nChoreography: Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Sally Demonte\nMusic: Gabriel Fauré\, “Après un rêve”\nSinger: Loredana Ferrante \n5 VR33 / Viale Ramazzini\, 33\nPensieri di Carta\nChoreography\, original music: Hélias Tur-Dorvault\nPerformer: Rossana Samele\nSound design: Alessandro Grisendi \n6 Garage Poppi / Viale Ramazzini\, 33\nKnight Rider\nChoreography: Yannis Nikolaidis\nPerformer: Veronica Biondini\nSound design: Manolis Manousakis\nCostume: Ioanna Tsami \n7 Ex Reggiane – Capannone 18\nStrôma\nChoreography and costumes: Giovanni Insaudo\nPerformers: Agnese Biavati\, Marek Brafa\nMusic: BFRND\, “La vie en rose” \n8 Green Park Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi\nActive Motivation\nChoreography: Elena Kekkou\nPerfomer: Lorenzo Molinaro\nMusic: Antonis Vlachos \nInfo & reservations \nFriday 10 June 5.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.\nSunday 12 June at 4.30 p.m.\, 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. \nStart from Teatro San Prospero\, Via Guidelli\, 5\nGuided tour on foot\, duration approximately 2 hours \nInfo: 0522273011 / whatsapp 3341023554\nTicket: 5 euro\nOnline purchase: www.biglietteriafonderia39.it \n\n \n \nSIDE EVENTS\n\nAtelier with Reggio Children \nFriday 10 June from 4.30 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.\nCentro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi – Viale Ramazzini\, 72/a\nIn partnership with Reggio Children \nWorkshop “A pin on a journey”\nA space to make your own pin with unusual materials.\nFrom age 3 and up – Free entrance for small groups\n \n  \nFriday 10 June from 4.45 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.\nCentro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi – Viale Ramazzini\, 72/a\nIn partnership with Reggio Children \nAtelier Mosaic of Graphics Words Matter\nAn atelier to experiment with unexpected graphic tools and material surfaces. \nfrom 3 to 7 years – max 24 participants\nAdults 5 euros – Children 3 euros\nbooking required: http://bitly.ws/rjcB \ninfo: www.reggiochildren.it \nReggio Children – Atelier \nConference An Ideal City: where dance meets the urban landscape \nSaturday 11 June from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.\nFonderia Aterballetto – via della Costituzione\, 39\nAlso available in online streaming: www.aterballetto.it \n\nSpeakers: \n– Gigi Cristoforetti\, Director of the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto:\nWhat is the project An Ideal City? With this aspiration\, An Ideal City – Reggio Emilia decided to create a network of collaborations with institutional partners\, associations\, and local actors and actresses to animate the city’s social and cultural life in different ways. \nIn its urban version\, An Ideal City involves the reenactment of the MicroDances with participation from the Peri-Merulo Conservatory\, the K-Lab community tailory\, the SemiLiberi social carpentry shop set up inside a prison by Cooperativa L’Ovile and the Via Roma Citizens’ Committee in creating essential parts of performance stage design and choreography and others required for the enjoyment of the city’s events and cultural heritage by the public at large. \nCostanza Meli \nAn Ideal City curator \nStages of the route \n1 Teatro San Prospero\nForget Me Not\nChoreography: Konstantinos Rigos\nPerformer: Alessio Saccheri\nMusic: Giorgos Koumendakis\nClarinet: Jennifer Piazza \n2 Piazza Casotti\nTurn the Tide\nChoreography\, set\, costumes: Roberto Tedesco\nPerformers: Marianna Basso\, Federico Russo\nMusic: BowLand \n3 Via Roma\, 22\nEppur si Muove\nChoreography: Francesca Lattuada\nPerformer: Arianna Ganassi\nMusic: Ludwig van Beethoven\, Symphony n. 7\, 2nd movement: Allegretto\nCostume: Bruno Fatalot \n4 Viale Ramazzini\, 9\nFantasmagoria\nChoreography: Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Sally Demonte\nMusic: Gabriel Fauré\, “Après un rêve”\nSinger: Loredana Ferrante \n5 VR33 / Viale Ramazzini\, 33\nPensieri di Carta\nChoreography\, original music: Hélias Tur-Dorvault\nPerformer: Rossana Samele\nSound design: Alessandro Grisendi \n6 Garage Poppi / Viale Ramazzini\, 33\nKnight Rider\nChoreography: Yannis Nikolaidis\nPerformer: Veronica Biondini\nSound design: Manolis Manousakis\nCostume: Ioanna Tsami \n7 Ex Reggiane – Capannone 18\nStrôma\nChoreography and costumes: Giovanni Insaudo\nPerformers: Agnese Biavati\, Marek Brafa\nMusic: BFRND\, “La vie en rose” \n8 Green Park Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi\nActive Motivation\nChoreography: Elena Kekkou\nPerfomer: Lorenzo Molinaro\nMusic: Antonis Vlachos \nInfo & reservations \nFriday 10 June 5.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.\nSunday 12 June at 4.30 p.m.\, 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. \nStart from Teatro San Prospero\, Via Guidelli\, 5\nGuided tour on foot\, duration approximately 2 hours \nInfo: 0522273011 / whatsapp 3341023554\nTicket: 5 euro\nOnline purchase: www.biglietteriafonderia39.it \n\n \n \nSIDE EVENTS\n\nAtelier with Reggio Children \nFriday 10 June from 4.30 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.\nCentro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi – Viale Ramazzini\, 72/a\nIn partnership with Reggio Children \nWorkshop “A pin on a journey”\nA space to make your own pin with unusual materials.\nFrom age 3 and up – Free entrance for small groups\n \n  \nFriday 10 June from 4.45 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.\nCentro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi – Viale Ramazzini\, 72/a\nIn partnership with Reggio Children \nAtelier Mosaic of Graphics Words Matter\nAn atelier to experiment with unexpected graphic tools and material surfaces. \nfrom 3 to 7 years – max 24 participants\nAdults 5 euros – Children 3 euros\nbooking required: http://bitly.ws/rjcB \ninfo: www.reggiochildren.it \nReggio Children – Atelier \nConference An Ideal City: where dance meets the urban landscape \nSaturday 11 June from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.\nFonderia Aterballetto – via della Costituzione\, 39\nAlso available in online streaming: www.aterballetto.it \n\nSpeakers: \n– Gigi Cristoforetti\, Director of the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto:\nWhat is the project An Ideal City?
SUMMARY:MICRODANZE - REENACTMENT
DESCRIPTION:In the framework of the Creative Europe An Ideal City project\, the MicroDances are in Athens on 17 June. \nIn Athens\, the 8 MicroDances that are the subject of the reenactment are immersed in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the city’s Agricultural University. \nProtagonists of the performances are the young talents from the professional dance school of the Greek National Opera. \nPerformances are on 17 June at 17.30-18.30-19.30. \n\n\n\n\nMicroDanze - urban route \n\nAs the European project An Ideal City enters the phase of the recast of MicroDances for the public space – Athens is introducing those dance reenactments as re-enchantments: \na reminder of the agency of the natural within the cultural\, a visit out into patterns of difference\, a walk through the web of life that nourishes (para)urban realities\, artistic creation\, the more-than-human communities. \nEight of the short dance performances that were presented within museum spaces in 2021\, are reconfigured and will unfold at the premises of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA).\nThe third oldest public university in Greece\, is situated within the beating heart of the capital and covers a sprawling area of botanical gardens\, greenhouses\, cultivated fields\, animal shelters\, barns\, vineyards\, beekeeping and compost units\, conservation laboratories\, teaching halls\, a museum and a library\, important material archives\, student hubs\, seed depositories\, a treasure of artistic-scientific representations of Greek flaura.\nAUA is emblematic in that it shares the historic and re-developing area of Votanikos (Botanical Gardens) with\, both abandoned and new small businesses\, with reconfigured industrial units and independent art spaces\, with night-clubs and houses.\nIts academic units spread across both sides of the ‘Sacred Way’ (Iera Odos) that connected Athens to Eleusis – the ancient center of the cult of Mysteries – and are bordering with the important archaeological sites of Kerameikos and Plato’s Academy. \nIf it is true that no city can be ‘ideal’ and no art can be about change unless they are animated by cosmoecological mindfulness and fertile pedagogies\, the Athens MicroDances are engaging with the active laboratory of the urban body\, its long-term economies and precarious circumstances.\nThey are moving us through the locus of this major Greek agricultural Institution with the international outreach\, as if within the open ‘stomach’ of the city and its multiple networks. There where the politics of food meet the future of care-full thought and creative ecologies are growing in study\, in the cultivation of everyday\, embodied cosmopolitics. \nEach of the reenacted dance pieces emerges organically from within this rich eco-system. Each offers a pause and a celebration of various functions and their symbiotic value: \n\nthe architecturally imposing central square;\nthe central building hall with the preserved ancient olive tree;\nthe old side-yard;\nthe semi-hidden Flower Nursery;\nthe glass Floriculture Greenhouse;\nthe meandering interstitial spaces;\nthe area of arboriculture;\nthe tractor shed near the old arboretum\, the blooming alleys and forking pathways\, the busy student body\, the polyphony of life\, the roaming nature of knowledge.\n\nImmersed in the paradox of a rural atmosphere within a contemporary city scape we can be reminded of the very roots of the idea of the city\, the response-ability of the bodies that shape its future\, the wild that always lives at the heart of the domestic. \nNadja Argyropoulou \nProject Advising Curator \n\n\n\n\nAll'esterno e davanti all'edificio dell'amministrazione centrale\nMicroDance: Strôma by Giovanni Insaudo\n\nPerformers: Agnese Biavati\, Marek Brafa Misicoro\nAll'interno del Salone principale dell'edificio dell'Amministrazione centrale\n\nMicroDance: Knight Rider by Yannis Nikolaidis\nPerformer: Despoina Chrysostomou\n\nNella piazza antistante l'edificio Evelpides\nMicroDance: Fantasmagoria by Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Ilia Koukouzeli\nGiardino della Floricultura\nMicroDance: Forget me not by Konstantinos Rigos\nPerformer: Pavlos Orfeas Argyropoulos\nSerra di Floricultura\nMicroDance: Pensieri di carta by Hélias Tur-Dorvault\nPerformer: Despoina Karakatsani\nDietro le serre centrali di piante ornamentali\nMicroDance: Turn the Tide by Roberto Tedesco\nPerformers: Theoni Peraki\, Spyridon Zikos\nGiardino dell'Arboricoltura - Spazio cinematografico all'aperto\nMicroDance: Active Motivation by Elena Kekkou\nPerformer: Konstantina Tsimeka\n\nEntrata del vecchio arboreto\nMicroDance: Eppur si muove by Francesca Lattuada\n\nPerformer: Marios Athanasios Bozikas

SUMMARY:Another Story
DESCRIPTION:Another Story\, the duet by Diego Tortelli\, is at Scandicci\, near Florence\, for the festival Nutida. \nAnother Storytells the new story of the most feared and at the same time desired gesture of 2020: the hug. A gesture as simple as a hug has been transformed into the most hidden desire and at the opposite into an almost “terrorist” act\, without losing its deep meaning of carnal sharing. Another Story becomes a solitary\, shared\, violent\, painful\, tiring and also desired\, hidden\, intimate embrace. What choreographer Diego Tortelli intends to do is to write another story to be mutually felt and observed by performer and spectator.

SUMMARY:SHOOT ME - BLISS
DESCRIPTION:At the 33rd edition of the Florence Dance Festival Aterballetto dances SHOOT ME\, the latest choreography by Diego Tortelli\, for the first time on stage since its debut in April 2022. On the strong rhythms of the English rock group Spiritualized\, mixed with poems recited by Jim Morrison\, the 16 dancers with glittery hair create on stage a dizzying game of seduction\, glances and complicity with the audience. \nBLISS is one of the company’s hits\, created by award-winning Swedish choreographer Johan Inger. The choreography\, accompanied by the notes of Keith Jarrett’s famous and iconic Köln Concert\, is a true hymn to the joy of dancing. The euphoria of the performers is a pleasure to behold\, so captivating and powerful that it is still charming theatres all over the world since 2016. \n  \n\n\n

SUMMARY:GERSHWIN SUITE | SCHUBERT FRAMES
DESCRIPTION:MM CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY\nAn evening dedicated to music is the one proposed by the company directed by Michele Merola. On the notes of famous pieces\, but also on more intimate and seductive music by the American composer\, Merola looks to the 20th century and the atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties\, drawing inspiration from the dynamic compositions of George Gershwin and the realistic and almost ‘cinematographic’ painting of Edward Hopper. Schubert frames is a work full of poetic images by Enrico Morelli\, who lets himself be enveloped by the delicate and moving music of Franz Schubert. \nThe performance is within the summer festival DANZA AI CHIOSTRI curated by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto and Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia. \n          \n\n\nGERSHWIN SUITE \nChoreography: Michele Merola\nMusic: George Gershwin\, Stefano Corrias\nLighting and set design: Cristina Spelti\nSet design: Alice De Lorenzi\nCostumes: Carlotta Montanari\nMusic adaptation and recomposing: Stefano Corrias\nChoreography assistant: Paolo Lauri\nPerformers: Emiliana Campo\, Dylan Di Nola\, Mario Genovese\, Matilde Gherardi\, Fabiana Lonardo\, Annalisa Perricone\, Alice Ruspaggiari\, Nicola Stasi\, Giuseppe Villarosa \nDuration: 40 min. \nPremiere: 8 February 2018\, Teatro Ristori\, Verona \nThe notes of George Gershwin (1898-1937)\, one of the most representative musicians of the 20th century\, reflect the spirit of the time in which they were created\, with the moods and atmospheres of the Roaring Twenties. Starting with the composer’s best pieces and suggestions from the pictorial works of another great 20th century American artist\, Edward Hopper (1882-1967)\, Michele Merola has created Gershwin Suite\, whose soundtrack anthologises the author’s most captivating pages\, such as\, among others\, Summertime\, which seals the show and recurs in several moments and in different versions\, and Rhapsody in Blue. But it is not only the lush and lively music that attracts the choreographer: Merola chooses Gershwin’s music in its various facets\, not only the more euphoric and brilliant pieces\, but also the more romantic and intimate\, sensual and seductive ones. A new composition by Stefano Corrias welds it all together\, a musical carpet that gives unity to the rich mosaic of scents\, now overflowing with dynamism\, now fully lyrical\, suspended in rethinking and thickened in melancholy. Another authorial contribution to the realisation of the show was made by Cristina Spelti\, who designed the lighting and set design\, and co-wrote the concept with Merola. \n \nSome scenes are therefore inspired by the connection between the composer’s various pieces and various paintings – such as New York Movie\, Soir Bleu\, Summer in the City\, People in the sun – by Edward Hopper\, a painter who\, thanks to his realism and his modus operandi of ‘framing’\, is considered an artist very close to the world of photography and cinema\, capable of poetically and evocatively depicting even humble and simple moments of everyday life. \n“I was attracted” – says the choreographer – “by the painter’s ability to construct atmospheres and nuances that outline the implications and secrets of the human condition. The direction of the danced images and the staging of the scenes create characters and situations that are not determined once and for all\, but open to different endings and solutions”. \nDirectly inspired by Hopper’s paintings\, the intimacy of the pas de deux and solos are paraded\, complemented by ensemble scenes\, where the will to live and redemption from everyday life take over. On stage\, so much variety takes on the guise of a film set\, thanks to a set design that changes constantly\, just like a set\, and a choreography that touches several keys\, thanks to the versatility of the choreographer\, who is able to apply his creativity and talent in step with contemporary times. \nSCHUBERT FRAMES \n\n\nChoreography: Enrico Morelli\nMusic: Franz Schubert\nLighting design: Cristina Spelti\nCostumes: Carlotta Montanari\nPerformers: Emiliana Campo\, Dylan Di Nola\, Mario Genovese\, Matilde Gherardi\, Fabiana Lonardo\, Annalisa Perricone\, Alice Ruspaggiari\, Nicola Stasi\, Giuseppe Villarosa \nEnrico Morelli wanted to entrust his new work to the extraordinary music of Franz Schubert: no one better than the Viennese composer was able to interpret the conflicting feelings of love\, tension\, melancholy\, regret\, but also hope.\nA collage of Schubert’s celebrated pieces\, extracts from real masterpieces of infinite beauty – composed two centuries ago\, they still amaze today for their great topicality – serve as the soundtrack to this work dedicated to the many souls of contemporary man\, where love gives way to disenchantment\, detachment to sharing\, passion to fear\, and vice versa\, in a coming and going between crescendo and diminuendo\, revealing entire universes and secret bonds. \n \nThe choreography has no pretence or descriptive ambition: it is an abstract tale of loneliness and kindred souls\, in an era such as ours\, tired\, turbid\, disenchanted\, tormented by a malaise that hangs in the air\, but also anxiously searching for meaning and hope for happiness. It is a story in which we focus above all on the moment of return\, because happiness is a home to return to\, perhaps changed\, heedless of the accelerated speed of a present that frightens us and a future that we may be afraid to explore. The problem is not to arrive\, but to return. Learning each time to love\, again. Having the courage to recognise ourselves as fragile\, and therefore generous in tenderness. \n\n\nMM CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY \nThe MM Contemporary Dance Company is a contemporary dance company directed by choreographer Michele Merola. It was established in 1999 as a centre for the production of events and performances and as a promoter of festivals and workshops with the aim of fostering exchanges and alliances between Italian and international artists\, witnesses and spokesmen of contemporary culture.\nThe repertoire of the company\, based in Reggio Emilia\, is rich and varied\, thanks to works by Michele Merola and creations by European and Italian choreographers such as Mats Ek\, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano\, Karl Alfred Schreiner\, Emanuele Soavi\, and Enrico Morelli. \nIn 2010\, the MM Contemporary Dance Company won the prestigious Danza&Danza Award as best emerging company and today\, it is\, to all intents and purposes\, a reality of excellence in Italian dance\, with a consolidated activity of performances throughout the country. For some years now\, it has conquered an international market with performances in European and non-European countries (Korea\, Colombia\, Canada\, Germany\, Russia\, Morocco…).\nIn 2017\, the MM Contemporary Dance Company won the 2017 Europaindanza Prize – Prize for Merit in Choreography\, for the show Bolero by Michele Merola.\nFor the three-year period 2018-20\, the MM Contemporary Dance Company is an associated company of the Trentino Alto Adige InDanza Circuit. \nMMCDC is supported by the Ministry of Culture\, Emilia-Romagna Region\, National Dance Foundation/Aterballetto\, Teatro Asioli in Correggio\, ASD Progetto Danza. Technical partner: Pro Music. \nINFO & TICKETS \nThe performance takes place at the Chiostro Grande of the Chiostri di San Pietro complex. \nTICKETS\nSingle seat 10 €. \nThe performances at the Chiostro Piccolo at h 19.30 entitle you to a reduction on the tickets for the performances of the review DANZA AI CHIOSTRI at the Chiostro grande: reduced ticket at € 8 instead of € 10 \nINFO & TICKET RESERVATION\ninfo@aterballetto.it / 0522 273016 / 334 1023554 (Whatsapp) \nTICKET PURCHASE\nOnline www.biglietteriafonderia39.it\nAt the Chiostri San Pietro: from one hour before the start of the performance

SUMMARY:MicroDanze - urban setting
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Ala – Città di Velluto – Memorie\, in partnership with Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara\, we offer the urban version of MicroDances. \n8 MicroDances are at the center of a process of reenactment: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at the creation of an urban version. \nThe result is a project that creatively wanders among very different contexts – historical centers\, industrial areas\, residual spaces\, symbolic places of the cities – defining unusual stages and creating radically new opportunities to meet the public. The leitmotif of the three experiments is research into dance as a form of living\, in relation to contemporary artistic practices that are rooted in the territory. \nThe micro/macro relationship established by the confrontation with the urban space is the same that articulates the conceptual space of the choreography and the lived space\, as well as the dialectic I/other\, activated by the transmission of the choreographies to the dancers in training who become mediators of an unprecedented experience. \nThe binary gaze that links spectator↔artwork becomes a performer-spectator-urban landscape triangulation. \n8 MicroDances are: Forget Me Not by Konstantinos Rigos\, Turn the Tide by Roberto Tedesco\, Eppur si muove by Francesca Lattuada\, Fantasmagoria d by Markella Manoliadi\, Pensieri di Carta by Hélias Tur-Dorvault\, Knight Rider by Yannis Nikolaidis\, Strôma by Giovanni Insaudo\, Active Motivation by Elena Kekkou. \nSaturday 9 July \nh 18 – 19 – 20 \nStarting from Palazzo Malfatti Azzolini\, Piazza San Giovanni \nMicroDanze reenactment -Strôma di Giovanni Insaudo \n

SUMMARY:Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda
DESCRIPTION:A contemporary staging for one of the most celebrated Baroque masterpieces by Claudio Monteverdi. A 17th-century madrigal in performance form inspired by the text La Gerusalemme liberata by Torquato Tasso. On stage the baroque mezzo-soprano Chiara Osella narrates the epic tale from the sad epilogue of the two young warrior lovers Tancredi and Clorinda\, physically interpreted by the two German performers Lisa Hofmann and Luzi Madrid Villaneuva (twobetween). \nA project born from an idea of Maestro Marcello Panni and from the collaboration with ‘Bologna Festival’\, ‘Ferrara Musica’ and ‘IUC-Università La sapienza’ in Rome\, featuring the choreographic creation by Carlo Massari. \nThe performance is within the summer festival DANZA AI CHIOSTRI curated by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto and Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia. \n          \n \nCREDITS \nOriginal creation: Carlo Massari\nPerformers: Lisa Hofmann and Luzi Madrid Villaneuva\nSung voice: Chiara Osella (mezzo-soprano)\nChoreographic collaboration: Emanuele Rosa\nTexts by Torquato Tasso\nOriginal composition: Claudio Monteverdi\nTranscription: Luciano Berio\nMusical Consultancy: M°Marcello Panni\nProduction: C&C Company \nFirst performance 2021 Bologna Festival – Ferrara Musica – IUC \nDuration: 30′ \nC&C COMPANY \nA project for the creation and development of an artistic language directed towards a physical and dramaturgical investigation\, in close relation with contemporary social issues\, it is characterised by constant research free of superstructures\, and is interested in the depth of interpersonal relationships\, with the aim of bringing ‘truth’ to the stage through a profoundly physical language that allows the spectator to feel represented in its universality. Founded in 2011\, the Company denotes a strong vocation for cross-over and hybridity in the use of dance in relation to other contemporary performance codes\, consolidating to date as an “amphibious” creative identity.\nAmong the numerous productions\, the most recent are Beast without Beauty\, Les Miserables and A peso morto\, which boast international recognition and touring. There are recurring creations that involve communities\, in a dialogue that enhances the artistic project: a search for relational truth combined with a total imaginative openness capable of bringing the audience closer to the theatrical experience. In 2020\, C&C and its founder Carlo Massari won CollaborAction# / Rete AnticorpiXL with the project RIGHT. \nINFO & TICKETS \nThe performance takes place at the Chiostro Piccolo of the Chiostri di San Pietro complex. \nTICKETS\nSingle seat 5 €. \nThe performances at the Chiostro Piccolo entitle you to a reduction on the tickets for the performances of the review DANZA AI CHIOSTRI at the Chiostro grande: reduced ticket at € 8 instead of € 10 \nINFO & TICKET RESERVATION\ninfo@aterballetto.it / 0522 273016 / 334 1023554 (Whatsapp) \nTICKET PURCHASE\nOnline www.biglietteriafonderia39.it\nAt the Chiostri San Pietro: from one hour before the start of the performance
