SUMMARY:Wolf - ''O'' - BLISS
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto dances at the prestigious Holland Dance Festival an evening signed by Hofesh Shechter\, Philippe Kratz and Johan Inger. \nIn Wolf by Hofesh Shechter we find a sort of wild animality\, which sometimes crosses men and sometimes women. The painting that is composed drags us a mysterious and engaging universe. “O” is a beautiful duo with an unstoppable rhythm signed by Philippe Kratz. At the end\, we close with the contagious joy of BLISS by Johan Inger. \n\n

SUMMARY:Patchwork\, un mosaico di storie
DESCRIPTION:Patchwork\, un mosaico di storie\, written and directed by four hands\, is the result of an international co-production.\nThe production has two twin castles\, one Italian and one Canadian. The show\, more visual and expressive than words\, deals with the theme of identity in today’s contemporary and multicultural society by staging the meeting of two characters who express themselves in Italian\, English and French without hindering the understanding of the story. \nCANCELLED PERFORMANCE\nFondazione Nazionale della Danza informs\, according to the DPCM of March 4th\, 2020\, on “Measures to combat and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the entire national territory”\, being evidently of absolute inapplicability the possibility to allow places of theatrical performance to respect the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter\, the SUSPENSION until April 3rd of all activities scheduled in its spaces. \n  \nCredits \nText and direction Cristina Cazzola and Carol Cassistat\nWritten in collaboration with Lucio Diana\nWith Sara Zoia and Daniele Tessaro\nSet and Lighting Design Lucio Diana\nOriginal music Nicolas Jobin \nProduction Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri\, Théâtre du Gros Mécano (Québec City)\, Signs of Childhood Association\, Atrium de Chaville (Paris)\, Musée national des beaux arts du Québec (Paris)\, Museo Benaki (Athens) \nDuration 55′ \nRecommended age from 5 years old and up \nThe inspiration \nWho are we?\nHow do we create our identity? \nWe started with an image.\nA patchwork blanket\, a courtepointe as they call it in Québec\, made of many different pieces of fabric. \nOften woven by several hands\, it can tell the story of a person\, an event\, an entire family or a generation. It speaks of the identity made up of many different fragments\, it speaks of us\, and of our being multicultural\, of humanity that is increasingly multicolored and multi-ethnic\, but with intertwining roots. \nFamily stories and family trees that can only contain and be the fruit of many journeys. An identity generated by encounters and clashes\, the fruit of a thousand migrations.\nAnd so our private history\, our identity\, a mosaic of stories that starting from Africa with our ancestor Lucy the first Australopithecus\, retraces the great journeys of humanity. \nThe plot \nTwo characters meet in a place without space or time. \nHe’s an anthropologist\, she’s a seamstress and they meet for work in a place of passage\, an airport. \nThey do not speak the same language but by communicating with looks\, gestures and simple words using the narrative power of objects they create a common language that makes communication possible and fun. \nEvery detail of their luggage tells something\, some objects bring them together\, others surprise them and so they begin to tell about family trips and adventures. The meeting soon turns into a theatrical game where adults and children are involved in the reflection on two questions that have always accompanied us: who we are and where we come from. \nAn amusing journey back through the branches of family trees and the migrations that have built the history of humanity\, to discover that\, since ever\, our identity is a patchwork\, part of a larger story where each of us is a unique and indispensable piece. \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Les Miserables - Open rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:OPEN REHEARSAL_C&C Company\nLadies and Gentlemen! Consider the creature as God first made it; nothing\, just nothing. Add civilization and see what you’ve got: walks upright\, wears trousers and carries a cane. It’s all education\, he’s got animal brains\, or rather: brainy animality\, he’s not the pig-stupid sort like some people … The monkey’s already a soldier\, though that’s not saying much-the bottom-most species of human kind! \nWoyzeck – Georg Büchner \n  \nCANCELLED OPEN REHEARSAL\nFondazione Nazionale della Danza informs\, according to the DPCM of March 4th\, 2020\, on “Measures to combat and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the entire national territory”\, being evidently of absolute inapplicability the possibility to allow places of theatrical performance to respect the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter\, the SUSPENSION until April 3rd of all activities scheduled in its spaces. \n  \nCredits \nChoreography: Carlo Massari\nDancers: Carlo Massari\, Alice Monti\, Stefano Roveda\, Nicola Stasi\nVocal Coaching: Chiara Osella \nProduction: C&C Company\nCo-production: Triangolo Scaleno/Glass Theatres; Festival Danza in Rete Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza; Festival Oriente Occidente/CID Centro Internazionale della Danza\nWith the support of Teatro Akropolis/Project CURA \nInsights \nA ruthless and immoral fresco on today\, a middle-class contemporary drama at times familiar\, resonates\, we are “involuntarily” complicit in it. An overview of stereotypes\, of already seen\, already said\, acted upon. The little theatre of human misery: body and voice at the service of a painful chorus that echoes “The Frogs” by Aristophanes\, or perhaps an operetta by Offenbach\, or the famous Brechtian “Opera”. Staticity and immobility in response to the imminent\, evident collapse (physical\, political\, social\, environmental…). We can’t do anything about it\, too late\, game over; we watch helplessly\, we take note of it\, we shrug\, sigh and turn around again. \nIn the question “what is happening around us?” lies the genesis of this creation: a deepening of the international current affairs and the search for connections between the present forms of protest – rarely based on the idea of human evolution and revolution – and the historical Enlightenment (enlightened) vision\, which puts Culture and Art at the centre of change.\nA creation that once again leads the Company to investigate contemporary social issues\, through an amphibious language of strong impact and a complex dramaturgical level in support of the work. \nC&C Company \nC&C Company was born from the union between Carlo Massari and Chiara Taviani\, performers with an eclectic background\, in the last decade on international stages as interpreters and creators of different companies. The debut of the first work in 2011: Corpo e Cultura (Body and Culture) immediately highlighted a strong vocation of the Company in search of a necessary physical language\, strongly dramaturgical\, in close relation with contemporary social issues. This was followed by the international debuts of: “Maria Addolorata”\, “Tristissimo” (AnticorpiXL)\, “012”\, “Peurbleue”\, “Don’t Be Afraid”\, “Dead Weight”\, “Beast Without Beauty”. They have received prestigious awards\, among them: “1st” Hiver Oclytes/Les Hivernales (F)\, “2nd” Hannover International Choreographers Competition (D)\, “2nd” Zawirowania Competition (PL)\, “Audience Award” Konzert Theater Berne (CH)\, “Finalist” Machol Shalem Dance Competition (I)\, “Special Mention” Premio Roma Danza (IT)\, “2nd” Corto in Danza (IT)\, Premio Palco Aperto (IT)\, “1st” E “Premio del Pubblico” CrashTest\, “1°” Premio Twain.\nIn these years\, in parallel with the production activity\, have taken life performative projects with public participation: ContaminAzioni\, SpringRoll (RomaEuropa ’16)\, Femminile Plurale. Currently the Company is engaged in the development of the extensive research “Beast Without Beauty”\, which sees within it the alternation of social projects and international co-productions.\nSince 2017 the artistic direction of the Company has been entrusted to Carlo Massari. \nceccompany.org

SUMMARY:Tempesta
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto lands on the stage of the Teatro Metastasio in Prato to give life to a Tempesta in dance. \n“Can the wealth of writing and meaning in this work be transferred into gesture and movement? This is the challenge facing the performance. It is an extremely arduous one because it invites a comparison with a text that has a special and absolute value in the whole of Shakespeare’s output. It is his last work and is considered as his spiritual testament\, an adieu to the theatre and it is no coincidence that it presents a creator of magic onstage which\, as Strehler rightly understood\, alludes to a creator of theatrical wonders.” Antonio Audino \nThanks to the choreography by Giuseppe Spota and the music by Giuliano Sangiorgi you can live seventy magic minutes. \nCANCELLED PERFORMANCE\nTeatro Metastasio informs\, according to the DPCM of March 4th\, 2020\, on “Measures to combat and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the entire national territory”\, being evidently of absolute inapplicability the possibility to allow places of theatrical performance to respect the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter\, the SUSPENSION until April 3rd of all activities scheduled in its spaces. \n

SUMMARY:UNDER THE FLESH
DESCRIPTION:Under the Flesh by Bassam Aboud Diab is a contemporary dance performance\, a personal reflection that investigates the way the human body reacts to situations of war and danger and how this survival instinct can be expressed in a dance with its own specific technique. \nThe performance is preceded by a speech with an expert on the relationship between dance and war. \nCredits \nChoreography and direction: Bassam Abou Diab\nPerformer: Bassam Abou Diab\, Ayman Sharaf El Dine and a translator\nMusic: Ayman Sharaf El Dine \nCo-produced by Maqamat Beit El Raqs\nDuration: 30′ \nInsights \nIn 1996 the war came back and it was a long time since I had met my friends\, the bombing. My friends this time were much more sophisticated and strong than previous times and it had been a long time since I had used the fall strategy. I took note of the change and elaborated the strategy again trying not to die. \nThe second strategy is to let your body go to the end\, you take advantage of the moment to go to the extreme part of your body / the extreme boundary of your body and avoid the danger. Actually it is not a strategy but I was trying to celebrate it because I got a new pair of shoes from European aid. The best part of a war are the gifts\, games and donations that we usually receive after every war but in that case my neighbor received more gifts because his parents died during the war. \nDuring the year 2000 I changed. New ideas in mind about the relationship between cultures\, the body\, death and rituals. My new strategy is to bring together traditions and identities to create a particular taste and a whole new meaning for existence. \nIn 2006 things got more difficult. I was forced to use a huge number of strategies to survive. Pain and death were just music to me. I think the time is over and you are thinking that I said a lot of stupid things but the most important thing is that you try to discover your own strategies. \nBassam Abou Diab \nBassam Abou Diab \nHe is an emerging choreographer from Beirut who has used the Moultaqa Leymoun platform to its full potential. His history and interest in theatre\, folklore and contemporary dance soon pushed him into the regional and international dance scene.
