SUMMARY:Don Juan
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto performs in Modena Don Juan\, the full evening production by Johan Inger. \nThe choreography comes from Inger’s desire to confront Don Juan\, a paradigmatic myth that is both ancient and still contemporary. The original comedy by Tirso de Molina\, Molière\, Bertold Brecht and the play by Suzanne Lilar are just some of the sources of inspiration: Inger and playwright Gregor Acuña-Pohl consulted twenty-five different texts inspired by the character. \nIn the creation we find all the characters of the story\, from Donna Elvira to Donna Anna to Zerlina and Masetto. Don Juan can be considered a Kammerspiel\, with its ability to emphasise nuances and emotions: and in the case of this creation\, dance becomes a magnifying glass for the individual characters\, subtly but clearly revealing the inner world of the men and women on stage. \n

SUMMARY:MicroDanze - Reenactment
DESCRIPTION:In the framework of the Creative Europe An Ideal City project\, on 21 and 22 May the MicroDances will restart their tour from where they left off\, at their partner Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels\, before continuing to Reggio Emilia (10-12 June) and Athens (17 June). \nSome of the MicroDances are at the center of a process of reenactment: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at the creation of an urban version that can interpret the spirit and characteristics of the three cities involved. \nIn Brussels the 8 MicroDances re-enacted are surrounded in the urban landscape of the Tour & Taxis area. The performances are on 21 and 22 May (h 14.00-15.30-17.00). \nDiscover more about the reenactment here. \nMicroDances & Urban Mutations \nIn Brussels\, MicroDances are rooted in an urban landscape that beats at two different rhythms. \nTachycardique in Tour & Taxis\, a trade centre and former industrial freight station located along the canal.\nBiorythmique in the Coulée verte\, a green trail grounded in the living beings and the knowledge buried beneath the metropolis. \nFor two decades\, the land\, which was abandoned at the end of the twentieth century\, has been fuelling the imaginations of town planners\, artists\, architects\, circus performers\, promoters\, gardeners\, and developers.\nA massive urban project will be completed in 2022. The land has the appearance of wrinkled skin. The soil is worn out. Neighbours\, runners\, children\, cyclists\, and pets and their owners are crossing public\, semi-public\, private\, common\, and liminal zones. \nWho are we? A melting pot of Brussels citizens experimenting with body-landscape interactions. Among us\, eight dancers were chosen by Les Halles for their multidisciplinary and outdoor skills. After participating in a European workshop\, they will perform six MicroDances shaped by Italian and Greek choreographers during the Covid crisis. \nEach MicroDance is a microworld\, a dialogue with the open space. A sort of acupuncture in which each point calls for a shared story told by watchmen who weave connections between the spirits of the location\, passers-by\, and the present moment. \nWith their disquieting beauty\, the MicroDances’ journeys from the underground to the surface are an essential part of the vital art of healing our connections to places. \nPauline de La Boulaye \nAn Ideal City curator\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n \nPannenhuis subway station\n\nLet’s explore what’s under our feet\, under Pannenhuis\, Pan’s home… There is no distinction between the living and the dead in the proto city: two spirits open the route.\nMicroDance: Eppur si muove by Francesca Lattuada\n\nPerformers: Carolina Morais Fonseca & Arti Servaes\nStreet workout park\n\nUnder the next bridge\, facing a street workout park\, one singer and one dancer embody the pain of performing: should you prioritise art before life or put art at the service of life?\nMicroDance: Phantasmagoria by Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Sally Demonte\nSinger: Katrishania Renata\nParckfarm greenhouse\n\nAt Parckfarm greenhouse\, we grow the land\, the connections\, and the creativity to restore the resources of the uprooted metropolis. SUMMARY:MicroDanze - urban setting
DESCRIPTION:In the framework of the Creative Europe An Ideal City project\, the MicroDances are in Reggio Emilia on 10-12 June. \nIn the past months some of the MicroDances were at the center of a process of reenactment: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at the creation of an urban version that can interpret the spirit and characteristics of the three cities involved: Reggio Emilia\, Athens and Brussels. \nFind out more about reenactment here. \nIn Reggio Emilia\, the 8 MicroDances that are the subject of the reenactment are immersed in an urban route that starts in the historic centre and stops at the Parco Innovazione on the northern outskirts of the town. \nProtagonists of the performances are the young talents from the advanced training courses Agora Coaching Project and Studio XL. \nIn addition to the urban MicroDances route\, other events are organised from 10 to 12 June to discover public art and the city itself. \nAn Ideal City | Reggio Emilia is curated by Costanza Meli. \nFND_Aterballetto – MicroDanze -Eppur si muove-chor. Francesca Lattuada – dancers Arianna Ganassi\, Antonio Tafuni – Palazzo da Mosto – ph Alice Vacondio \nMicroDances - Urban Route \nEight 8 MicroDances are performed in Reggio Emilia along a path that links its historic city center both physically and symbolically with the new area of urban renewal and development known as Parco Innovazione\, the former industrial area previously occupied by Officine Meccaniche Reggiane. The route winds through the city’s pedestrian island with locations to stop and witness the performances on a path that takes around two hours to complete. \nFor two days (10 and 12 June)\, these MicroDances will be staged in places of strategic significance and areas of passage between the town center and its outskirts on a journey to rediscovering and redefining Reggio Emilia’s social\, cultural\, and historical heritage of the past and present.\nThe presentation throughout the city is at the disposal of both casual audiences that encounter the performances by chance and those who decide to follow its seven itineraries and discover how dance suits the city’s locations of greatest social\, historical\, and future relevance. \nThe Project combines the languages of dance and public art in developing its ideal of the inclusive\, dynamic\, and experimental city\, one that takes part by placing all its various forms of energy into relationship and working for a shared objective. No city is ever ideal\, however: each is real and keeps growing also in the circulation of knowledge and experiences among its citizens\, especially those who consider the dimension of the community and shared space a precious asset. With this aspiration\, An Ideal City – Reggio Emilia decided to create a network of collaborations with institutional partners\, associations\, and local actors and actresses to animate the city’s social and cultural life in different ways. \nIn its urban version\, An Ideal City involves the reenactment of the MicroDances with participation from the Peri-Merulo Conservatory\, the K-Lab community tailory\, the SemiLiberi social carpentry shop set up inside a prison by Cooperativa L’Ovile and the Via Roma Citizens’ Committee in creating essential parts of performance stage design and choreography and others required for the enjoyment of the city’s events and cultural heritage by the public at large. \nCostanza Meli \nAn Ideal City curator \nStages of the route \n1 Teatro San Prospero\nForget Me Not\nChoreography: Konstantinos Rigos\nPerformer: Alessio Saccheri\nMusic: Giorgos Koumendakis\nClarinet: Jennifer Piazza \n2 Piazza Casotti\nTurn the Tide\nChoreography\, set\, costumes: Roberto Tedesco\nPerformers: Marianna Basso\, Federico Russo\nMusic: BowLand \n3 Via Roma\, 22\nEppur si Muove\nChoreography: Francesca Lattuada\nPerformer: Arianna Ganassi\nMusic: Ludwig van Beethoven\, Symphony n. 7\, 2nd movement: Allegretto\nCostume: Bruno Fatalot \n4 Viale Ramazzini\, 9\nFantasmagoria\nChoreography: Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Sally Demonte\nMusic: Gabriel Fauré\, “Après un rêve”\nSinger: Loredana Ferrante \n5 VR33 / Viale Ramazzini\, 33\nPensieri di Carta\nChoreography\, original music: Hélias Tur-Dorvault\nPerformer: Rossana Samele\nSound design: Alessandro Grisendi \n6 Garage Poppi / Viale Ramazzini\, 33\nKnight Rider\nChoreography: Yannis Nikolaidis\nPerformer: Veronica Biondini\nSound design: Manolis Manousakis\nCostume: Ioanna Tsami \n7 Ex Reggiane – Capannone 18\nStrôma\nChoreography and costumes: Giovanni Insaudo\nPerformers: Agnese Biavati\, Marek Brafa\nMusic: BFRND\, “La vie en rose” \n8 Green Park Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi\nActive Motivation\nChoreography: Elena Kekkou\nPerfomer: Lorenzo Molinaro\nMusic: Antonis Vlachos \nInfo & reservations \nFriday 10 June 5.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.\nSunday 12 June at 4.30 p.m.\, 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. \nStart from Teatro San Prospero\, Via Guidelli\, 5\nGuided tour on foot\, duration approximately 2 hours \nInfo: 0522273011 / whatsapp 3341023554\nTicket: 5 euro\nOnline purchase: www.biglietteriafonderia39.it \n\n \n \nSIDE EVENTS\n\nAtelier with Reggio Children \nFriday 10 June from 4.30 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.\nCentro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi – Viale Ramazzini\, 72/a\nIn partnership with Reggio Children \nWorkshop “A pin on a journey”\nA space to make your own pin with unusual materials.\nFrom age 3 and up – Free entrance for small groups\n \n  \nFriday 10 June from 4.45 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.\nCentro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi – Viale Ramazzini\, 72/a\nIn partnership with Reggio Children \nAtelier Mosaic of Graphics Words Matter\nAn atelier to experiment with unexpected graphic tools and material surfaces. \nfrom 3 to 7 years – max 24 participants\nAdults 5 euros – Children 3 euros\nbooking required: http://bitly.ws/rjcB \ninfo: www.reggiochildren.it \nReggio Children – Atelier \nConference An Ideal City: where dance meets the urban landscape \nSaturday 11 June from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.\nFonderia Aterballetto – via della Costituzione\, 39\nAlso available in online streaming: www.aterballetto.it \n\nSpeakers: \n– Gigi Cristoforetti\, Director of the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto:\nWhat is the project An Ideal City?
SUMMARY:MICRODANZE - REENACTMENT
DESCRIPTION:In the framework of the Creative Europe An Ideal City project\, the MicroDances are in Athens on 17 June. \nIn Athens\, the 8 MicroDances that are the subject of the reenactment are immersed in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the city’s Agricultural University. \nProtagonists of the performances are the young talents from the professional dance school of the Greek National Opera. \nPerformances are on 17 June at 17.30-18.30-19.30. \n\n\n\n\nMicroDanze - urban route \n\nAs the European project An Ideal City enters the phase of the recast of MicroDances for the public space – Athens is introducing those dance reenactments as re-enchantments: \na reminder of the agency of the natural within the cultural\, a visit out into patterns of difference\, a walk through the web of life that nourishes (para)urban realities\, artistic creation\, the more-than-human communities. \nEight of the short dance performances that were presented within museum spaces in 2021\, are reconfigured and will unfold at the premises of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA).\nThe third oldest public university in Greece\, is situated within the beating heart of the capital and covers a sprawling area of botanical gardens\, greenhouses\, cultivated fields\, animal shelters\, barns\, vineyards\, beekeeping and compost units\, conservation laboratories\, teaching halls\, a museum and a library\, important material archives\, student hubs\, seed depositories\, a treasure of artistic-scientific representations of Greek flaura.\nAUA is emblematic in that it shares the historic and re-developing area of Votanikos (Botanical Gardens) with\, both abandoned and new small businesses\, with reconfigured industrial units and independent art spaces\, with night-clubs and houses.\nIts academic units spread across both sides of the ‘Sacred Way’ (Iera Odos) that connected Athens to Eleusis – the ancient center of the cult of Mysteries – and are bordering with the important archaeological sites of Kerameikos and Plato’s Academy. \nIf it is true that no city can be ‘ideal’ and no art can be about change unless they are animated by cosmoecological mindfulness and fertile pedagogies\, the Athens MicroDances are engaging with the active laboratory of the urban body\, its long-term economies and precarious circumstances.\nThey are moving us through the locus of this major Greek agricultural Institution with the international outreach\, as if within the open ‘stomach’ of the city and its multiple networks. There where the politics of food meet the future of care-full thought and creative ecologies are growing in study\, in the cultivation of everyday\, embodied cosmopolitics. \nEach of the reenacted dance pieces emerges organically from within this rich eco-system. Each offers a pause and a celebration of various functions and their symbiotic value: \n\nthe architecturally imposing central square;\nthe central building hall with the preserved ancient olive tree;\nthe old side-yard;\nthe semi-hidden Flower Nursery;\nthe glass Floriculture Greenhouse;\nthe meandering interstitial spaces;\nthe area of arboriculture;\nthe tractor shed near the old arboretum\, the blooming alleys and forking pathways\, the busy student body\, the polyphony of life\, the roaming nature of knowledge.\n\nImmersed in the paradox of a rural atmosphere within a contemporary city scape we can be reminded of the very roots of the idea of the city\, the response-ability of the bodies that shape its future\, the wild that always lives at the heart of the domestic. \nNadja Argyropoulou \nProject Advising Curator \n\n\n\n\nAll'esterno e davanti all'edificio dell'amministrazione centrale\nMicroDance: Strôma by Giovanni Insaudo\n\nPerformers: Agnese Biavati\, Marek Brafa Misicoro\nAll'interno del Salone principale dell'edificio dell'Amministrazione centrale\n\nMicroDance: Knight Rider by Yannis Nikolaidis\nPerformer: Despoina Chrysostomou\n\nNella piazza antistante l'edificio Evelpides\nMicroDance: Fantasmagoria by Markella Manoliadi\nPerformer: Ilia Koukouzeli\nGiardino della Floricultura\nMicroDance: Forget me not by Konstantinos Rigos\nPerformer: Pavlos Orfeas Argyropoulos\nSerra di Floricultura\nMicroDance: Pensieri di carta by Hélias Tur-Dorvault\nPerformer: Despoina Karakatsani\nDietro le serre centrali di piante ornamentali\nMicroDance: Turn the Tide by Roberto Tedesco\nPerformers: Theoni Peraki\, Spyridon Zikos\nGiardino dell'Arboricoltura - Spazio cinematografico all'aperto\nMicroDance: Active Motivation by Elena Kekkou\nPerformer: Konstantina Tsimeka\n\nEntrata del vecchio arboreto\nMicroDance: Eppur si muove by Francesca Lattuada\n\nPerformer: Marios Athanasios Bozikas

SUMMARY:Another Story
DESCRIPTION:Another Story\, the duet by Diego Tortelli\, is at Scandicci\, near Florence\, for the festival Nutida. \nAnother Storytells the new story of the most feared and at the same time desired gesture of 2020: the hug. A gesture as simple as a hug has been transformed into the most hidden desire and at the opposite into an almost “terrorist” act\, without losing its deep meaning of carnal sharing. Another Story becomes a solitary\, shared\, violent\, painful\, tiring and also desired\, hidden\, intimate embrace. What choreographer Diego Tortelli intends to do is to write another story to be mutually felt and observed by performer and spectator.

SUMMARY:SHOOT ME - BLISS
DESCRIPTION:At the 33rd edition of the Florence Dance Festival Aterballetto dances SHOOT ME\, the latest choreography by Diego Tortelli\, for the first time on stage since its debut in April 2022. On the strong rhythms of the English rock group Spiritualized\, mixed with poems recited by Jim Morrison\, the 16 dancers with glittery hair create on stage a dizzying game of seduction\, glances and complicity with the audience. \nBLISS is one of the company’s hits\, created by award-winning Swedish choreographer Johan Inger. The choreography\, accompanied by the notes of Keith Jarrett’s famous and iconic Köln Concert\, is a true hymn to the joy of dancing. The euphoria of the performers is a pleasure to behold\, so captivating and powerful that it is still charming theatres all over the world since 2016. \n  \n\n\n
