SUMMARY:Stravaganze in sol minore
DESCRIPTION:PREMIERE\n \n/ New performance for families with a dancer and a singer / \nThe magical virtuosity of Toti Scialoja (1914-1998)\, a master not only of images but also of words\, is the basis of this new creation for boys and girls\, boys and girls signed by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto. \nThe almost magical vibrations that spring from Scialoja’s poems are like the infinite rings that are created at the surface of the water when a stone is thrown: evocative of unreal or hyperreal images\, bearers of a musicality that mixes poetry and nursery rhyme\, they make the extraordinary and the frightening go hand in hand. \nSotto un cespo di rose scarlatte\nOffre il rospo tè caldo con latte\nSotto un cespo di rose paonazze\nTocca al rospo sciacquare le tazze.\n(Toti Scialoja\, La mela di Amleto\, 1984) \nCREDITS \nDirection and choreography: Francesca Lattuada\nTexts: Toti Scialoja (from La mela di Amleto)\nMusic: The Klezmorin\, Gustav Mahler\, Dean Martin\, Clara Rockmore\nMasks and props: Natali Fortier\nPerformers: Vittoria Franchina\, Piersilvio De Santis \nProduction: Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto\nIn co-production with Centro Teatrale Bresciano\, Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara

SUMMARY:Double Side
DESCRIPTION:The Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto dances Double Side in Aschaffenburg\, in Bavaria. \nBaroque music and contemporary dance are combined in the new programme of the Italian Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto\, which features two choreographers from Canada and Cuba who are little known in Italy\, Danièle Desnoyers and Norge Cedeño Raffo. In close collaboration with the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini from Parma\, its orchestral counterpart from Emilia-Romagna Region\, the renowned company brings along a musical ensemble of singers and string players\, dancing to a baroque suite and a “Stabat Mater” by Arvo Pärt. \n \nSynopsis \nThe Cuban Norge Cedeño Raffo creates to religious music\, of all things. The young\, up-and-coming choreographer was a soloist with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba\, the most important contemporary company in Cuba. Arvo Pärt’s “Stabat Mater” becomes a painful farewell work for him. The Estonian composer set the medieval text about the pain of the Mother of God to music in his characteristic\, reduced style. The moving effect of this music also characterises the expressive\, free and\, in the most beautiful sense\, pure dance: how can one find hope again in a destroyed world and after such a great loss\, how can one go on living\, Norge Cedeño Raffo asks himself in his work. \n\nChoreographer Danièle Desnoyers comes from Montréal\, the metropolis of modern Canadian dance\, where her light\, fluid style and her own company make her a permanent fixture on the contemporary scene. In addition to a theatrical element\, her pieces always have a strong relationship to music. Her creation for Aterballetto is based on a suite by the Italian composer Federico Gon; the specialist for baroque music was inspired by Henry Purcell. \n  \n \n  \nCredits \nSTABAT MATER\n(Creation for 3 dancers\, 3 musicians\, 3 singers) \nChoreography Norge Cedeño Raffo\nSet and lighting design Fabiana Piccioli\nMusic Stabat Mater by Arvo Pärt\nCostume design Norge Cedeño Raffo and Fabiana Piccioli\nAssistant to the choreographer Thais Suàrez Fernàndez \nWITH DROPPING WINGS\n(Creation for 8 dancers\, 4 strings) \nChoreography Danièle Desnoyers\nMusic An English Suite by Federico Gon after Henry Purcell\nSet and lighting design Fabiana Piccioli\nCostume design Danièle Desnoyers\nWith the support of Délégation du Québec à Rome and Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec \n \n\nCo-design and co-production Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto and Fondazione Arturo Toscanini\nCo-production Festspiele Ludwigshafen\, Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia \nWorld-premiere 23 October 2022\, Reggio Emilia\, Festival Aperto\, Teatro Municipale Romolo Valli (I)\nGerman premiere 9-10 December 2022\, Ludwigshafen\, Theater Im Pfalzbau (D) \n\nDancers Aterballetto Company\nQuartetto Motus for La Toscanini: Giulia Soli\, Agnese Rava violin\, Dario Carrera viola\, Margherita Curti cello\nSoprano: Theodora Io Koutsothodoru\nCountertenor: Niccolò Balducci\nTenor: Kim Bowoo\nMusical coaching: Antonio De Lorenzi \nDocufilm Stabat Mater - Danzare oltre i confini\nNorge Cedeño Raffo’s creation Stabat Mater inspired Rai5 to make the docufilm Stabat Mater – Danzare oltre i confini (Dancing Beyond Borders). \nThe docufilm closely reports the artistic and human experience of the young talented choreographer\, for the first time in Italy\, and shows his creative process\, in the setting of the Teatro Asioli in Correggio\, a small Italian-style theatre immersed in the Po Valley\, one of the most fascinating and evocative. \nThe filming of the docufilm (directed by Alessandro D’Onghia) began on 29 January 2021 (the choreographer’s first day of work with the three dancers) and ended on 6 March 2021 (the day of the closed-door preview at the Teatro Asioli in Correggio\, with musicians and singers from the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Achille Peri in Reggio Emilia). The airing of the docufilm on Rai5 was on 29 April 2021\, on the occasion of the International Day of Dance. \nMEDIA PARTNER\n \nWatch the docufilm

SUMMARY:STORIE
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto performs Storie in Macerata. \nStorie is a small anthology of danced fragments. They constitute only an infinitesimal part of the very rich artistic and human universe of the two choreographers Diego Tortelli and Philippe Kratz. \nTortelli creates two pieces: Preludio\, opening the evening\, is a love letter to the body for five dancers on the music of Nick Cave\, Another story is a duet on the impossible gesture of 2020\, the embrace. Between past and future are Kratz’s two creations. The “O” duo offers us two bodies/robots\, forcing us to question how the meaning of physical contact might change: will it remain emotional and felt\, or will it become serial and alienated?\nAlpha Grace\, a six-step in the evening’s conclusion\, is a reflection on empathy\, a form of gentle communication between people who feel on the same level. It too is challenged by the present times. \n

SUMMARY:MADE IN ITALY 28.0
DESCRIPTION:Agora Coaching Project – Made in Italy 27.0 – ph Nicola Stasi \n  \nThe protagonists of the evening are the dancers of the Agora Coaching Project\, an advanced training project promoted and supported by the MM Contemporary Dance Company and A.S.D Progetto Danza of Reggio Emilia under the artistic direction of Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli. Started in 2010\, the course is gaining full recognition in the European dance world and boasts collaborations with internationally renowned teachers and choreographers. \nOn stage Made in Italy 28.0 with choreography by Sasha Waltz and Paolo Mohovich. IN C\nStudy for ‘In C’ \nChoreography by Sasha Waltz \nMusic by Terry Riley \nRe-staged by Davide Di Pretoro \n  \nAn important opportunity for enrichment is the encounter of the young dancers of Agora Coaching Project with the work “In C” by the great choreographer Sasha Waltz. A considerable achievement for the training course supported by the MM Contemporary Dance Company\, which is enriched by such a prestigious collaboration as Sasha Waltz & Guest\, bringing Agora fully into a wide-ranging European training context. “In C”\, which the Fondazione I Teatri will host at the Teatro Valli in a few months\, danced by Sasha Waltz’s company\, is one of the German choreographer’s latest works. The work was created to the musical score by Terry Riley\, composed in 1964 and revolutionary for the time\, as it constitutes the first example of minimalist music \nOn this milestone in the history of music\, the great German choreographer Sasha Waltz and the dancers of her company developed a choreographic work that follows an equally variable structure\, deliberately designed not to be a finished scenic piece\, but one that is constantly evolving. The result is an experimental system of choreographic figures that fit within a structured improvisation\, a dynamic and modular system that can be adapted to different times and formats.\nPICCOLI RITI NOTTURNI\nChoreography: Paolo Mohovich \nMusic: Michael Kiwanuka \nAssistant to the choreographer: Diletta Torelli \n  \nThe first walk in a dark wood. The first moonlight swim. The first party\, the first encounters and disencounters (amorous and otherwise)… to be a little older the next day… \nNight rituals that in hindsight appear small\, but how can we forget the emotion that made them appear immense?\nAGORA COACHING PROJECT \nAGORA COACHING PROJECT is a two-year dance training project for dancers between the ages of 16 and 22. Agora aims to train artists ready to flexibly face the variety of the international dance market\, artists capable of responding to the different technical/stylistic demands of this same market. \nThe aim is to provide a solid basis for learning the various techniques in use on the international contemporary dance scene and the different repertoires through the alternation of qualified teachers and artists by bringing to the stage the works created by guest choreographers. The course aims to offer a wide range of stimuli\, technical\, cultural and exchange between students and choreographers\, each of whom comes from and works in different realities among the most interesting on the international scene. Agora brings dancers together with established choreographers and directors of prestigious companies\, thus giving students the opportunity to obtain work contracts; Agora thus represents an active and effective bridge between training and the world of work\, having built a network of collaborations with numerous European companies over the years. Many Agora students are currently working in these prestigious ensembles. \nArtistic direction: Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli \nDancers: Camilla Aiazzi\, Corrado Azzollini\, Beatrice Ballarò\, Erica Barusco\, Gaia Belli\, Marek Brafa\, Anna Dal Maso\, Laura Dell’Agnese\, Sally Demonte\, Vittoria Facci\, Chiara Gionti\, Luca Guerrieri\, Sofia Lacava\, Carlotta Lo Piano\, Erika Loprieno\, Giulia Lusetti\, Giorgia Mantovan\, Gioele Marcante\, Carlotta Maucioni\, Marta Monaci\, Federico Musumeci\, Carmine Olivazzi\, Martina Pagliari\, Martina Procacci\, Susanna Russing\, Emily Rondanini\, Alessia Russo\, Alessio Saccheri\, Viviana Sanfilippo\, Sara Scarponi\, Micol Scotto\, Diletta Suman\, Giorgia Talami\, Gennaro Todisco. \nINFO & TICKETS\nTICKETS\nFull: 10 euro\nReduced under 30\, scuole di danza\, Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa\, over 65\, soci CRAL Comune di Reggio Emilia: 6 euro\nReduced under 8: 3 euro \nPURCHASING TICKETS \nTickets can be purchased online su www.biglietteriafonderia39.it.\nThe ticket office service at the Fonderia is open from 8 pm. \nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS \nCell and whatsapp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it\n \n

SUMMARY:STORIE
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto performs Storie in Pesaro. The “O” duo offers us two bodies/robots\, forcing us to question how the meaning of physical contact might change: will it remain emotional and felt\, or will it become serial and alienated?\nAlpha Grace\, a six-step in the evening’s conclusion\, is a reflection on empathy\, a form of gentle communication between people who feel on the same plane. It too is challenged by the present times. \n

SUMMARY:DON JUAN
DESCRIPTION:Aterballetto is in Sassari\, a superb Sardinian province\, with Don Juan by Johan Inger. \nThe choreography stems from Inger’s desire to confront Don Juan\, an ancient and still contemporary paradigmatic myth. The original comedy by Tirso de Molina\, Molière\, Bertold Brecht and the play by Suzanne Lilar are just some of the sources of inspiration: Inger and playwright Gregor Acuña-Pohl were able to consult twenty-five different texts inspired by the character. \nIn the creation we find all the characters in the story\, from Donna Elvira to Donna Anna to Zerlina and Masetto. Don Juan can be considered a Kammerspiel\, with its ability to emphasize nuances and emotions: and in the case of this creation\, dance becomes a magnifying glass for the individual characters\, and subtly but clearly reveals the inner worlds of the men and women on stage. \nDanza&Danza ‘Best Production’ Award 2020 \n

SUMMARY:GAP OF 42
DESCRIPTION:GAP of 42 – Chris Iris – ph. Kai Hebestreit \n  \nThe acrobatic dance show Gap of 42 created and performed by two very talented German artists\, Christopher Schlunk and Iris Pelz\, is coming to the Fonderia for the first time. Extraordinary acrobatics and situational comedy meet in a contemporary and entertaining show where two apparently very different bodies come together to create something incredible. \nCREDITS \nBy and with Iris Pelz e Christopher Schlunk \nOutside-eye: Stefan Schönfeld \nMusicc: Schroeder (with Jan Fitschen | Felix Borel | Bella Nugent) \nObject theatre coaching: Anne-Kathrin Klatt \nDance coaching: Laura Börtlein \nLighting design: Marvin Wöllner \nSYNOPSIS \nTwo dissimilar bodies meet acrobatically. 42 cm separate them in height\, 42 kg in weight. A difference that unites and creates possibilities instead of being an obstacle. The extraordinary acrobatics surprise the audience while the duo’s subtle humour makes them smile. The performers sympathetically and thought-provokingly show how relationships change and how they meet at eye level. Philosophical questions are raised\, absurd moments arise and there is a glimmer of magic. Three wooden objects even out the height difference and become a third partner on stage. The piece is a compilation of contemporary circus\, physical theatre\, dance and object theatre. Acrobatics performed with precision and ease; touching\, poetic and original. \n“Rarely has a dance or acrobatic couple been seen that portrays the great themes of being so subtly\, so poetically.” (Bernd Guido Weber in ‘Schwäbische’ about GAP of 42) \nCHRIS IRIS \nChristopher Schlunk and Iris Pelz met at the Academy of Circus and Performing Arts in Tilburg\, the Netherlands\, where they graduated in 2011. They perform all over the world with renowned companies such as Cirque Éloize (Canada)\, Cikus Monti (Switzerland)\, Cirkus Cirkör (Sweden)\, La Soirée (Australia) and Palazzo (Germany). Their innovative number ‘The Microphone’ won numerous awards\, including a silver medal at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain\, the audience award at Young Stage\, first place at Newcomershow and a special award at the Moscow International Circus Festival. The duo has performed in venues such as the famous Sydney Opera House\, Roundhouse in London\, La Tohu in Montreal and the Chamäleon Theater in Berlin. Together with four colleagues from the circus school\, they founded the collective Common Ground. Their first tour took them to festivals such as Atoll (Germany)\, Theater op de Markt (Belgium) and Circus Circle (Netherlands). \nIn 2020/21 Chris and Iris created the duo piece GAP of 42\, their first full-length production as a duo. \nINFO & TICKETS \nTICKETS\nFull: 6 euro \nPURCHASING TICKETS \nTickets can be purchased online at www.biglietteriafonderia39.it. \nThe ticket office service at the Fonderia is open from 5 p.m. onwards. \nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS \nMobile and whatsapp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it \n\n

SUMMARY:DON JUAN
\nPremio Danza&Danza ‘Miglior Produzione’ 2020

SUMMARY:BEAST WITHOUT BEAUTY - OPEN REHEARSAL
DESCRIPTION:Beast Without Beauty – Carlo Massari – ph. Davide Colagiacomo \n  \nOPEN REHEARSAL \nThe young choreographer Carlo Massari draws inspiration from Samuel Beckett’s Theatre of the Absurd and his Happy Days to narrate the trap of the existential condition. On stage an authentic plunge into non-sense\, an irreverent\, cynical study on the archetypes of human misery\, on inexpressiveness\, on the despicable cruelty in interpersonal relationships. Pale faces\, bloodless\, dehumanised and exhausted figures face each other in an icy duel; at stake is the affirmation of a role\, an identity\, a social position\, with no holds barred. \n  \n\n  \n CREDITSOriginal creation Carlo Massari \nProduction C&C Company \nWith Carlo Massari\, Emanuele Rosa\, Giuseppina Randi \nSound and lighting design Francesco Massari \nConsulting costumes Gabriella Strangolini \nHairstyling Bruna Toneatto \nIn co-production Festival “Danza in Rete” Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza \nWith the support of Festival Oriente Occidente/CID Centro Internazionale della Danza\, CSC/OperaEstate\, Piemonte dal vivo\, ARTEVEN\, Komm-tanz Compagnia Abbondanza/ Bertoni\, h(abita)t – Rete di Spazi per la Danza/Leggere Strutture Art Factory\, Municipality of San Lazzaro di Savena “Protagonismo e Creatività \nWith the support of Residenza I.DRA. and Teatri di Vita within the framework of the “Progetto CURA 2018” \nWith the support of the programme MOVIN’UP SPETTACOLO – PERFORMING ARTS single session 2018/2019 curated by MINISTRY FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE AND ACTIVITIES – General Directorate for the Performing Arts (MiBAC – DG S) and Association for the Circuit of Young Italian Artists (GAI) together with Association of Young Artists of Emilia-Romagna (GA/ER ) With the support of MiBACT and SIAE “Sillumina – Private copies for young people\, for culture”SYNOPSISYet another cold\, cold\, merciless look at society. \nAn irreverent\, cynical study of the archetypes of human misery\, of inexpressiveness\, of despicable cruelty in interpersonal relationships. Losers in a superficial relationship face each other in an icy duel; at stake is the affirmation of a role\, an identity\, a social position\, survival. There are no rules\, everything is allowed: we lend ourselves to be prey\, designated victims of the other\, we are aware of it\, we are just waiting for it to happen\, and in turn we are ready to pounce\, offend\, cleave\, crush\, tear\, to mercilessly finish him off\, but without getting our hands dirty. \nA perverse aristocratic game of double-crossing\, of abuse; a hidden\, unspoken\, pastel-coloured violence that leads irretrievably to slaughter\, to extinction; there will be no winners\, only losers. Of all the fussing\, nothing happens…. And so we implode\, unable to get back up\, we abandon ourselves but being careful not to ruin our hairdo\, smudge our make-up\, crease our suits\, not to lose dignity lest we suffer acts of cannibalism\, be devoured by others\, by our emptiness\, by the deaf silence. An attempt to physically recount the evil of living\, the Beckettian paralysis: a man deluded\, desperate to the point of becoming insensitive\, now unable to take charge of his life and remove it from the misery in which he has become mired. A comedy of the absurd (in which we suffer the absurd in spite of ourselves) with the existentialist and post-existentialist flavour of Beckett’s theatre\, perfectly expressed in his ‘Happy Days‘. \nAn authentic plunge into non-sense\, a black irony counterpointing the emaciated pallor of the faces\, a fascination in the absurdity of the scenes\, in the estrangement from human participation in the actions\, in the facts; bloodless figures\, devoid of energy\, exhausted and dehumanised\, as at the end of a long war\, who know they have served no purpose except to do themselves and their own useless harm\, to become cynical and opportunistic in the face of death to the point of contradicting themselves and betraying their playmates. \nBeast Without Beauty – Carlo Massari – ph. Giulia Marangoni CARLO MASSARI \nCarlo Massari is a performer\, choreographer and transdisciplinary creator active on the Italian and international contemporary scene. He has always been committed to the research of new performing languages\, and he delves into the hybridisation and mixing of different artistic disciplines\, defining in the “amphibious” form his clear and recognisable distinctive trait. \nHis eclectic training and professional career is characterised by experiences that alternate between prose and musical theatre\, and even dance and physical theatre. SUMMARY:MicroDanze - urban setting
DESCRIPTION:In the setting of the Musei Civici of Padua\, within the Prospettiva Danza Teatro Festival\, we present MicroDanze – urban setting: \n6 May 2023 – 15.30 / 16.30 / 17.30 \nMicroDanze\, in a route curated by Lara Guidetti\, are performed by young dancers from the advanced training courses Agora Coaching Project and Studio XL of Reggio Emilia. \nMicroDanze - urban setting \nMicroDanze is an ambitious project of “danced” performances. Conceived by Gigi Cristoforetti\, the project comes from an invitation by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani in Reggio Emilia to develop and explore different ways of enjoying dance performance. \nChoreographers – national and international – have conceived short pieces (six to eight minutes\, to be danced in a tiny space)\, which can be watched in succession as if one were visiting a museum. A project that escapes the dynamics of the stage\, the distance that separates the spectator from the performer\, creating a continuum between the onlooker and the watched\, soliciting an emotional and aesthetic experience as varied as it is original. \nSome MicroDanze have been the focus of a process ofreenactment: a transposition of the original versions for young dancers and public spaces aimed at creating an urban version.\n \nThe result is a project that creatively wanders between very different contexts – historical centres\, industrial areas\, residual spaces\, symbolic places in cities – defining unusual stages and creating radically new opportunities to meet the public. The guiding thread is research into dance as a form of living\, in relation to contemporary artistic practices that are rooted in the territory. \nIn Padua\, the route – curated by Lara Guidetti – passes through the Civic Museums allowing different experiences of space\, whose works sometimes resonate in the choreographies. An opportunity to experience a unique encounter with dance and visual art. \n  \nMicroDanze reenactment -Strôma di Giovanni Insaudo
