SUMMARY:Ti vedo. La leggenda del Basilisco
DESCRIPTION:What if a fairy tale were told by an enormous dress of fabric?\n \nTi vedo. La leggenda del Basilisco \n \nby Teatro del Buratto is an immersive and poetic performance designed for children\, weaving together theatre\, myth\, and magic. Among witches\, spells\, and the dreaded King of Serpents\, children will be carried on an exciting journey where fear and courage meet. A little hero and a fearsome basilisk teach us that sometimes it is enough to look beyond appearances to discover that every creature holds the possibility of change. \n \nRecommended age: from 4 years \n \nCREDITS \nA project by: Emanuela Dall’AglioWith: Emanuela Dall’Aglio\, Riccardo PaltenghiDirection: Emanuela Dall’AglioSoundscapes and Lighting: Mirto BalianiConstructions: Emanuela Dall’Aglio\, Michele Columna\, Riccardo Paltenghi\, Caterina BertaAssistant Director: Beatrice Masala \n \nA co-production by: Teatro del Buratto\, CSS Teatro Stabile di Innovazione del Friuli Venezia Giulia \n \nRecommended age: from 4 yearsDuration: 50 minutes \nDiscover more \n\n“I see you\, all the creatures that men call monsters.\nMonstrous creatures? Monstrous?… Who are they\, really? They are those who cannot be saved\, who are of a form unsuited to this world. But what if\, for once\, they were the heroes—clumsy\, reckless\, involuntary saviors of themselves?”\nN. Haynes \n\n \nA dress-story that tells a myth.A great skirt that contains within itself all the elements of this tale. A mountain of red fabric in which a narrator recounts the story of a witch and her basilisk. \n \nHumankind has always needed to create and to fight monsters that embody evil and the flaws of the world\, and this performance begins with the act of creation—the magical rite that gives birth to a basilisk. \n \nBut now we must face the King of Serpents\, a creature unsuited to life among men\, with supernatural powers\, sowing terror\, and with a single gaze turning living beings into stone. Through the centuries\, countless legends have cast him as a terrible and deadly figure. Drawing on some of these\, our story begins with the arrival of the Basilisk in a peaceful village. His power breeds fear and dismay; the villagers\, not knowing how to banish him and powerless against his magic\, lock themselves in their homes in fear. \n \nBut is this creature truly a monster\, or is it simply unable to change its nature?Perhaps\, unaware of how to handle its power\, it is imprisoned by it.Only through the encounter and clash with a small\, unsuspecting hero—through his reckless courage and his gentleness—will the Basilisk be offered a way out: in this case\, a magical antidote\, a trick to ensure that no one dies—neither the monster nor the village. \n \nThrough knowledge\, courage\, encounter\, and even a touch of magic\, we find a new solution to an old legend. \nTeatro del Buratto \nFounded in 1975 in Milan\, Teatro del Buratto is a theatre production center that combines actor’s theatre\, puppet and animation theatre\, and black theatre\, with a strong focus on visual\, musical\, and scenographic research. Its productions\, aimed at children\, adolescents\, and adults\, range from reimagined classics to new dramaturgies\, often addressing contemporary social issues. \n \nActive both nationally and internationally\, Buratto is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Culture as a Theatre Production Centre and manages the Teatro Bruno Munari and Teatro Verdi in Milan. Beyond production\, it promotes residencies\, training\, workshops\, and festivals such as IF Festival and Segnali\, standing as a key reference point for visual and innovative theatre. \nInfo\, Tickets\, Workshop \nSATURDAY\, OCTOBER 18 – 4:30 pmFAMILY CONTACT \n \nWorkshop led by choreographer Laura Matano \n \nFamily Contact is a moment of sharing between children and parents\, exploring new worlds together. SUMMARY:Stuporosa
DESCRIPTION:Francesco Marilungo’s Stuporosa is a whirling dance in which tarantism\, “possession\,” and funeral lament hypnotize the audience.\n \nThe Ubu Award for Best Dance Performance 2024 comes to Fonderia. Francesco Marilungo draws inspiration from popular funeral rituals\, tarantism\, and the dance of Saint Vitus to create Stuporosa\, an extraordinary collective work for five performers exploring the universality of grief and its healing. \n\n \n \nCredits \nDirection and Choreography: Francesco MarilungoWith: Vera Di Lecce\, Martina Di Prato\, Barbara Novati\, Roberta Racis\, Francesca Linnea Ugolini\, Music and Vocal Coaching: Vera Di LecceSet and Lighting Design: Gianni StaropoliCostumes: Lessico FamiliarePhotography and Video: Luca Del Pia \n \nProduction: Körper | National Dance Production CentreCo-production: Fabbrica EuropaWith the support of IntercettAzioni – Centro di Residenza Artistica della LombardiaWith the support of Short Theatre Festival\, Fuori Programma Festival\, Teatro Akropolis & Dracma Teatro – Progetto CURA\, Did Studio\, Base Milano\, Qenhun \nDiscover more \nThus\, apparently without reason\, the five performers of Stuporosa weep\, giving life to a cry that takes on many shades: at times restrained\, at times stifled\, at times becoming music\, then flowing into hope\, then transforming into song\, echoing the sounds of an ancient Salentinian funeral lament.\n \nTheir bodies fragment in search of archaic\, distant forms that vanish and dissolve instantly. These forms are figures of pathos\, archetypal images of human suffering handed down over centuries and civilizations—images drawn from ancient funeral rites but universal in meaning\, for since the dawn of humanity\, suffering has always been endured in the same way. The five performers attempt to reclaim a sense of collectivity\, of rituality\, to create new forms of mutual support—whispering ancient magical formulas\, evoking traditional dances\, singing a Salentinian lullaby. \n \nIn Stuporosa\, as in ritual weeping\, one witnesses a stylization of pathos\, a de-hystericization of grief; and the performance itself seeks to be an invitation to reflect on mourning\, on the human need for a shared cultural institution\, a communal rite\, to overcome moments of individual crisis. \n \nFrancesco Marilungo \nAfter studying Engineering and conducting research at the Von Karman Institute in Brussels\, Francesco Marilungo attended the Theatre-Dance Atelier at Paolo Grassi in Milan. Since 2010\, he has collaborated with internationally renowned choreographers such as Julie Anne Stanzak\, Masaki Iwana\, Yasmine Hugonnet\, Jan Fabre\, and Romeo Castellucci. Over the years\, he has performed for Enzo Cosimi\, Antonio Marras\, and Alessandro Sciarroni. He then began his own creative journey\, seeking a personal language between performance\, dance\, and visual arts. \n \nParadise\, winner of the NEXT 2015/2016 call in Lombardy\, was selected by Anticorpi XL for the 2016 Vetrina della Giovane Danza d’Autore. Love Souvenir (2018) won the Inteatro Festival call and the NEXT 2017/2018 call in Lombardy. With Party Girl\, he received the Prospettiva Danza Award 2020 and the Cross Award 2020\, and was selected for the Nid Platform 2021. Stuporosa premiered at Short Theatre Rome in September 2023 and began an international tour. In 2024\, Stuporosa was presented at the Nid Platform in the programming section and won the 2024 UBU Award for Best Dance Performance. \n \nHis new project\, Cani Lunari\, winner of the Premio CollaborAction – Anticorpi XL Network\, will premiere in September 2025. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \n \nFull price: €10Reduced: €6 (under 30\, dance schools\, Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa\, over 65\, CRAL members of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia)Reduced: €3 (under 8) \n \nTICKET PURCHASE \n \nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspxFonderia Box Office: opens one hour before the performance (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia). \n \nTickets are unreserved (general admission). \n \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \n \nPhone & WhatsApp: +39 334 1023554Email: biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:Viaggio nel repertorio del balletto (Journey into Ballet Repertoire). Teatro San Carlo di Napoli
DESCRIPTION:Viaggio nel repertorio del balletto (Journey into Ballet Repertoire)\, curated and presented by dance journalist and critic Francesca Pedroni\, featuring the étoiles of Teatro San Carlo\, Naples.\n \nGiselle: Romanticism\, Pointe Shoes\, and the Ballet Blanc \nCurated by Francesca Pedroni \nWith Étoiles Anna Chiara Amirante and Alessandro Staiano\, Ballet Company of Teatro San Carlo\, Naples \nAn iconic title of Romanticism\, Giselle premiered in Paris in 1841 with choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot and music by Charles Adam. It remains an essential work in the repertoire of every major classical ballet company. A love story unfolding between the radiant\, pastoral realism of the first act and the nocturnal forest realm of the Wilis — spirits of young women who died of heartbreak after being abandoned before their weddings. Diaphanous in their white tutus and pointe shoes\, they rise from midnight to dawn\, forcing any man who enters their haunted circle to dance to his death. \nThe Ballet Company of Teatro San Carlo\, directed by Clotilde Vayer\, will stage Giselle in Naples this November in Patricia Ruanne’s choreographic version. Around this title\, the Journey into Ballet Repertoire series curated by Francesca Pedroni for the National Choreographic Centre / Aterballetto resumes. This performance-conversation blends readings\, stories\, and video excerpts\, featuring the invaluable participation of Étoiles Anna Chiara Amirante and Alessandro Staiano of the Teatro San Carlo Ballet\, who will perform live some of the ballet’s most emblematic scenes in dialogue with the curator. \n \n \nANNA CHIARA AMIRANTE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBorn in Naples\, she trained at the Ballet School of the Teatro San Carlo. In 2006\, she joined the ballet company of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples under the direction of Elisabetta Terabust. SUMMARY:Cani lunari - open session
DESCRIPTION:Francesco Marilungo’s Cani lunari is the opening event of the autumn edition of Danza in Fonderia.\n \nFrancesco Marilungo inaugurates Antologie. New Readings of the Body\, the Danza in Fonderia series\, with the open rehearsal of his latest work. Cani lunari reveals the first fragments of his new creation. Inspired by a rare lunar optical phenomenon and steeped in ancestral symbols\, the piece delves into the imagery of the witch\, the healer\, the sorceress: figures on the margins of society\, suspended between fear and desire\, science and magic\, exclusion and power. \nhttps://vimeo.com/1048362306 \nCredits \nChoreography and Direction: Francesco MarilungoWith: Vera Di Lecce\, Barbara Novati\, Roberta Racis\, Alice Raffaelli\, Francesca Linnea UgoliniCostumes: Lessico FamiliareMusic and Vocal Coaching: Vera Di LecceLighting Design: Gianni StaropoliPhotography and Video: Luca Del Pia \n \nProduction: Körper | National Dance Production CentreCo-production: SNAPORAZVEREIN\, IRA Institute \n \nWith the support of ResiDance – an initiative of the Anticorpi XL Network\,Tuscany Residency Centre (Fondazione Armunia Castiglioncello – CapoTrave/Kilowatt Sansepolcro)\,AMAT – Associazione Marchigiana per le Attività Teatrali\,Consorzio PUGLIA CULTURE – Regional Consortium for Arts and Culture\,in collaboration with Associazione Menhir / festival LE DANZATRICI en plein air in Ruvo di Puglia and Ass. TEATRO MENZATI’ / TEX – Il Teatro dell’ExFadda in San Vito dei Normanni (Puglia). \n \nWith the support of Cross Festival\, Primavera dei Teatri CastrovillariWith the contribution of Marosi Festival\, Teatro delle Moire \nDiscover more \nDuring the winter months\, when the moon is full or nearly full\, its light can sometimes be refracted by ice crystals in the high clouds\, creating a circular halo around the satellite with two symmetrical gleams at its sides: the moon dogs. Atmospheric phenomena that folk tradition once read as omens of storms\, but also as signals of transition—visual thresholds into the invisible. \nCANI LUNARI is a choreographic project that crosses these thresholds and immerses itself in an imaginary rooted in the archaic feminine\, in magical knowledge\, in ecstatic bodies. A sensitive inquiry into the figure of the witch\, the healer: not as folkloric residue or demonized stereotype\, but as the emblem of marginal yet powerful knowledge\, resisting the logic of utility and visibility.\n \nThrough a process of research combining archival materials\, oral testimonies\, folkloric iconographies\, and bodily practices\, CANI LUNARI builds a performative rite in which the body dances trance\, ecstasy\, metamorphosis. The performers\, holding taxidermy crows—souls released\, spirit animals\, threshold guides—enact gestures suspended between ritual and fiction\, magic and theatrical play. Movement feeds on fragmentations\, limps\, archaic gestures\, and sudden slips into animality\, evoking a world where the boundary between human and beyond-human is porous and mutable. The body moves “above water and above wind\,” echoing ancient formulas that still resonate in some Italian territories at the margins. \n \nAt the heart of the project lies a reflection on the hysterical body\, a feminine site of crisis and enigma\, historically linked to the figure of the witch and to states of possession. The 19th-century photographs of the Salpêtrière become symbolic material to embody: bodies out of control\, traversed by the invisible\, performing a different kind of knowledge. The witch’s body becomes a threshold-organism between dimensions—as John Cotta once wrote\, “not a traveler between worlds\, but the site of encounter between different spheres of being.” \n \nCANI LUNARI recalls a knowledge that is both political and sensorial\, an embodied epistemology. The soul—bird or breath—leaves the mouth\, flies\, detaches\, and then returns to the body. As in the confessions extorted from persecuted women—often visionaries\, storytellers\, healers—the body becomes narrative\, ritual of healing\, exercise in survival. The soundscape\, created by Vera Di Lecce\, interweaves electronics and natural sound\, oral chants and magical formulas\, in a score suspended between the earthly and the divine. \nCANI LUNARI is a crossing\, a white sabbath\, a collective ritual to re-enchant the world.\n \nFrancesco Marilungo \nAfter studying Engineering and conducting research at the Von Karman Institute in Brussels\, Francesco Marilungo attended the Theatre-Dance Atelier at Paolo Grassi in Milan. Since 2010\, he has worked with internationally renowned choreographers such as Julie Anne Stanzak\, Masaki Iwana\, Yasmine Hugonnet\, Jan Fabre\, and Romeo Castellucci. Over the years\, he has performed for Enzo Cosimi\, Antonio Marras\, and Alessandro Sciarroni. He then began his own artistic path\, seeking a personal language at the intersection of performance\, dance\, and visual arts. \n \nParadise\, winner of the NEXT 2015/2016 call in Lombardy\, was selected by Anticorpi XL for the 2016 Vetrina della Giovane Danza d’Autore. Love Souvenir (2018) won the Inteatro Festival call and the Lombardy NEXT 2017/2018 call. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS\nFull price: €3Free admission: under 6 \n \nTICKET PURCHASE \n \nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspxFonderia Box Office: opens one hour before the performance (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia). \n \nTickets are unreserved (general admission). \n \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \n \nPhone & WhatsApp: +39 334 1023554Email: biglietteria@aterballetto.it

DESCRIPTION:Double performance: \nThursday\, June 5 – 9:00 PMFriday\, June 6 – 9:00 PM \nThe protagonists of the evening are the dancers of Agora Coaching Project\, an advanced training project promoted and supported by MM Contemporary Dance Company and A.S.D Progetto Danza of Reggio Emilia\, under the artistic direction of Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli. Launched in 2010\, the course is gaining full recognition in the European dance scene and boasts collaborations with internationally renowned teachers and choreographers. \nThe evening features two choreographies: Passo d’addio by Claudia Rossi Valli and Last movement of hope – III Chapter: Annunciation by Adriano Bolognino. \nAGORA COACHING PROJECT \nAgora Coaching Project is a year-long advanced dance training program for dancers aged between 18 and 22\, based in Reggio Emilia. Founded in 2010\, it is directed by Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli\, and is promoted and supported by MM Contemporary Dance Company and the Centro Permanente Danza of Reggio Emilia. \nThe program aims to train artists who are prepared to face the diversity of the international dance market with flexibility — dancers capable of responding to its various technical and stylistic demands. The project offers a wide range of stimuli\, including technical training\, cultural enrichment\, and opportunities for exchange between students and choreographers\, each of whom brings a unique and valuable perspective from the international dance scene. \nAgora allows young dancers to meet established choreographers from diverse stylistic backgrounds. Over the years\, many renowned names have taken part in the project. Alongside Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli\, the program is supported by a team of highly qualified instructors\, each with proven experience in the field. \nPasso d'addio \nby Natiscalzi DT \nconcept/choreographic dramaturgy/texts: Claudia Rossi Valli \nartistic assistance: Tommaso Monza \nmusic: F. Also plural\, “gli addii” — the final farewells\, the separation.] — Treccani \nPasso d’Addio is a sensorial and emotional journey through the many nuances of final moments. The performance explores the concept of “farewell” and “last time” as physical\, sonic\, and poetic acts\, transforming images\, thoughts\, and memories into movement. By sharing the creative process with the performers\, the stage becomes a sensory lab — a collective\, corporeal narrative. \nHow do we know this will truly be the last time? How does our best farewell move? Sometimes\, it makes space like revenge; other times\, it tickles a laugh or gently brushes the cheek\, consoles us like a prayer\, cradles us like a lullaby. Sometimes\, the farewell is whispered; other times\, it crashes — tumbling down the stairs. What does a farewell taste like? The taste of melancholy? \nMy farewell tastes like salted caramel on the last ice cream cone of that summer.\nWhat does our farewell sound like?\nIt strikes the bass drum of our lungs and then reverberates to the edges of us.\nIt stumbles on our teeth\, bounces off the palate\, falling in and out of us\, not knowing where its echo will land.\nIt skips across our goosebumps\, turning into dismay — and a nocturnal forest. \n \nLAST MOVEMENT OF HOPE - III CHAPTER: ANNUNCIAZIONE \nchoreography: Adriano Bolognino \nassistant: Rosaria Di Maro \nmusic: Luke Howard\, Giuseppe Villarosa\, M83 \nperformers: Agora Coaching Project \nduration: 20 min. \n“Facing dust storms\, I will fight until the end.\nCreatures of my dreams: rise and dance with me.\nNow and forever\, I am your King.” \nThe need to be reborn arrives loudly — and perhaps you hear it shout even louder when faced with the fear of loss. Then\, perhaps\, filling up before it empties\, building before it collapses\, seems like the right path. The need for rebirth comes when you start to envision a void you cannot leap over. So you decide to plant seeds around it\, to water a garden you can lie on — a garden that can hold you when pain brings you to your knees. A garden not of flowers\, but of breath\, waiting\, and names not yet spoken. An energy that moves\, tears\, pushes. It descends\, flows through bodies\, uniting them. It opens a space\, a passage. A pulsating collective body that crosses the threshold. \nThis work is part of a collection of micro-dances titled Last Movement of Hope\, conceived as a larger project — a collection\, a book in which each chapter represents a moment of creative exploration\, an emotion\, an encounter\, or a reflection. It was born from the desire to explore and narrate the human experience through dance\, in all its complexity: our relationships with ourselves and others\, our fears\, struggles\, and\, above all\, the hope that drives us forward. \nINFO AND TICKETS \nTICKET PURCHASE \nTickets can be purchased online at www.biglietteriafonderia39.it \nThe box office opens one hour before the performance begins. \nSeats are unassigned. \nCONTACTS \nMobile & WhatsApp: +39 334 1023554 \nEmail: biglietteria@aterballetto.it

DESCRIPTION:IMPROMPTUS\nArias\, Dances\, and Improvisations \nThe Centro Coreografico Nazionale / Aterballetto and Fondazione Ravenna Manifestazioni collaborate once again to create a new project\, where dance and music meet\, intertwine\, and transform into unique performances. The aim is to create a creative space where choreographers and musicians work side by side\, shaping works born from improvisation and mutual inspiration. \nThe goal of the project is to explore new ways of interaction between movement and sound\, fostering a fluid and spontaneous relationship between the two disciplines. Through artistic experimentation\, dancers and musicians push beyond the traditional boundaries of composition\, creating short performances (from 15 to 20 minutes) that express the intensity of this encounter. \nFriday\, March 14\, 8:30 PM\nFonderia\, Reggio Emilia \nDaniele Di Bonaventura bandoneon\nAlfredo Laviano percussion\nRoberto Tedesco and Gador Lago Benito dancers \nWednesday\, April 17\, 9:00 PM\nFonderia\, Reggio Emilia \nFrancesco Angelico\, Christian Barraco Cellos of the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini\nLeonardo Farina and Arianna Ganassi dancers \nInfo & Tickets \nTICKETS \n10 euros \nTICKET PURCHASE \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nFonderia Box Office: the box office opens one hour before the show starts (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACT FOR RESERVATIONS \nPhone and WhatsApp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:Viaggio nel repertorio del balletto. Accademia Danza alla Scala
DESCRIPTION:Accademia Teatro alla Scala. Hosted at the Fonderia in Reggio Emilia\, the events feature guest artists—dancers and maîtres from Italy’s leading ballet companies—and aim to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation of exemplary works from the great ballet seasons. A prologue to the project is today’s event with the Accademia Teatro alla Scala\, which—together with Ballet School teacher Walter Madau and several upper-year students—explores the value of repertoire as a fundamental training ground. \nEach event explores ballet repertoire and the technique of classical-academic dance\, highlighting its connections with costume design\, set design\, and music—from the first rehearsals to the actual performance. \nThe first event features the Accademia Teatro alla Scala\, presenting: \nVARIAZIONE DI CENERENTOLAFrom CENERENTOLA by Frédéric OlivieriMusic by Sergei ProkofievStudent: Maria Vittoria Bandini \nNEW SLEEP (DUET) by William ForsytheMusic by Thom WillemsStudents: Sienna Bingham e Michele Forghieri \nPASSO A DUE DI MATTO E GELSOMINAFrom LA STRADA by Mario PistoniMusic by Nino RotaStudents: Francesco Della Valle\, Laura Farina \nVARIAZIONE DI GELSOMINAFrom LA STRADA by Mario PistoniMusic by Nino RotaStudent: Laura Farina \nAccademia Teatro alla Scala. Lucca\, gennaio 2025. ©Munari. \nCENERENTOLA \nFrom CENERENTOLA by Frédéric Olivieri\, set to music by Sergei Prokof’ev\nVariation – Maria Vittoria Bandini \nA great fairytale of ballet and the collective imagination\, Cenerentola has always told the story of a dream becoming reality—thanks to the triumph of good over evil and the victory of values like kindness and generosity over envy\, hypocrisy\, and deceit. A beautiful lesson for the students of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala’s Ballet School\, encouraging not only technical and interpretive growth on a professional level\, but also a meaningful\, human reflection on values central to their development as young artists. \nSergei Prokofiev\, composer of the ballet’s lyrical score—which premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1945—wrote: \n“What I wanted to express above all in my music was the poetic love between Cinderella and the Prince: the birth and blossoming of this love\, the obstacles in its path\, and the fulfillment of the dream.”He also added:“I was eager to create a ballet that was as ‘danceable’ as possible\, with a variety of dances woven into the story and offering the dancers plenty of opportunity to showcase their art.” \nCommissioned by the Bracco Foundation\, Frédéric Olivieri\, Director of the Ballet School\, created a new version of Cenerentola that fully responds to Prokofiev’s intentions—an ambitious two-act production tailored to the talent and training of the School’s young dancers. A dreamlike staging of which the School is justifiably proud\, the production features hand-painted sets by Angelo Sala\, specially designed costumes by Chiara Donato\, and the collaboration of current and former students from the Academy’s costume-making program\, together with the renowned Sartoria Brancato. \nThis collective work brings more than one hundred students to the stage in choreography rich with both virtuosic and expressive roles. Around the central characters of Cinderella and the Prince\, the contrast between good and evil is drawn—without relying on the traditional aesthetic opposition between beauty and ugliness. The Stepmother and Stepsisters are not performed en travesti nor grotesquely made-up; it is left entirely to the dance to reveal the true nature of each character. \nFrancesca Pedroni \nNEW SLEEP (DUET) \nNEW SLEEP (DUET)\n \nChoreography by William ForsytheMusic by Thom WillemsPerformed by: Sienna Bingham e Michele Forghieri \nNew Sleep (Duet) by William Forsythe: the joyful mechanics of partnering \nNew Sleep (Duet) is a brilliant example of William Forsythe’s post-classical dynamism. A master of the ever-evolving language of ballet\, Forsythe has transformed classical academic vocabulary into something incandescent and radically contemporary. His is a dizzying creativity in which dancers’ virtuosity is both celebrated and expanded to its fullest potential. When we met Forsythe last year in Milan for the premiere of Blake Works V at Teatro alla Scala\, he offered an insight that also perfectly applies to approaching the duet New Sleep: \n“People often confuse the academy—which is the set of rules\, the grammar—with choreography\, which is the exception. The academy clearly prescribes the steps\, how they are learned one after the other\, in relation to tradition and history. We\, as choreographers\, must find a way to show what the academy gives to dancers\, helping them understand what can be done with it\, and where the difference lies between the rules of the School and the exceptions of choreography.”— William Forsythe\, in Francesca Pedroni\, William Forsythe – Il balletto: una gioia tra regole e formidabili eccezioni\, Danza&Danza\, n. 310\, May–June 2023. \nA beautiful challenge for such young dancers. \nThe duet is built around Thom Willems’ striking score—a long-time collaborator of Forsythe—filled with harsh\, urban sounds that evoke a dance darting through the whir of metal machinery. The duet is a game of trust between the partners—she en pointe—a push\, a hold\, a release\, full of off-balance movement. \nThe work has been restaged for the students by Forsythe dancer Noah Gelber and Kathryn Bennetts\, with the support of the school’s resident teachers. Bennetts\, a close collaborator of Forsythe since the late 1980s during his tenure at the Frankfurt Ballet\, has long been responsible for reviving his repertoire internationally.New Sleep (Duet) is the third Forsythe work to enter the repertoire of the Accademia’s Ballet School\, following The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude—unforgettable with its sharp\, acid-yellow tutus—and\, in 2019\, In the Middle\, Somewhat Elevated\, also revived by Bennetts. \n“New Sleep was originally created in 1987 for the San Francisco Ballet\,” explains Bennetts. “It’s a piece I adore\, which I’ve revived over the years in Zurich\, Antwerp\, Monte Carlo. It’s a wild\, surreal\, strange\, and fun work. As often happens with Bill (short for William)\, there are many elaborations and later variations. The version of the duet restaged for the School was created for a gala in 2011\, specifically choreographed on Katherina Markowskaja of the Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich\, partnered with Noah Gelber. It’s based on a duet from the original but features many modifications. It has its own distinct atmosphere—it’s fresh\, current\, and perfectly suited for the School. It develops a beautiful partnering technique\, almost like in rock & roll. And when young dancers are intelligent and talented\, they’re willing to take the risk and ride the speed—there’s a constant challenge in the space.” \n“Returning to the Accademia’s Ballet School is always a joy for me\,” Bennetts adds. “When I came for In the Middle\, I worked with Linda Giubelli\, Giorgia Pasini\, Daniele Bonelli—and now I see them in major companies: at La Scala\, the San Carlo in Naples\, in Düsseldorf. Frédéric Olivieri has shaped the School as a true preparation for professional life\, giving students the habit of approaching choreography from a very young age. It’s rare—and it pays off.” \nFrancesca Pedroni \nLA STRADA \nFrom LA STRADA (SUITE) by Mario Pistoni\, set to music by Nino RotaVariazione di Gelsomina – Laura Farina\nPasso a due del Matto e Gelsomina – Francesco Della Valle\, Laura Farina \n“La strada” by Mario Pistoni. Between Fellini and dance\, Gelsomina lives again in a suite of excerpts \nIn 1966\, La strada by Mario Pistoni premiered at Teatro alla Scala. A masterpiece imbued with a poignant sense of nostalgia and fleeting\, fragile moments in which happiness seems possible—yet proves to be an illusion. The music is by Nino Rota. The story is inspired by Federico Fellini’s film of the same name\, with an unforgettable Giulietta Masina in the role of Gelsomina. She travels the world with Zampanò\, portrayed in the film by a brutish Anthony Quinn—a rough street performer who earns his living breaking chains with the strength of his chest. The Fool\, a pure and childlike soul\, plays the violin and shares Gelsomina’s sensitivity. On stage in 1966\, the Fool was Mario Pistoni himself\, and Gelsomina was danced by Carla Fracci. In later years\, the role would be interpreted by Oriella Dorella\, Alessandra Ferri\, and Gilda Gelati. A principal dancer at Teatro alla Scala since 1951\, Pistoni danced Romeo alongside Carla Fracci’s debut as Juliet in John Cranko’s historic 1958 production. Two years later\, he made his debut as a choreographer. \nLa strada is a narrative ballet\, cinematic not only in its inspiration but also in its three-dimensional staging\, with simultaneous planes of action. It tells a story of everyday poverty and shattered hopes\, set in a world dear to Fellini’s imagination—the circus—and blends classical technique with modern styles ranging from tango to jazz. A richly populated ballet\, it offers young students the opportunity to explore emotion and storytelling through dance. \nFor the Ballet School\, it was decided to restage a suite of selected scenes from La strada. This task was entrusted to Guido Pistoni\, Mario’s nephew\, a dancer trained at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma who has previously performed in the ballet and now oversees his uncle’s repertoire.Guido Pistoni explains: “For the Ballet School\, we chose to omit the more dramatic scenes from the original ballet\, such as the Fool’s death. In agreement with Maestro Olivieri\, I focused on the more danced sections and the circus characters\, ending the ballet with the dreamlike scene of the three Pierrots alongside Gelsomina.” \nThe suite begins with a group scene involving numerous student couples\, including some of the youngest pupils\, and of course\, Zampanò (guest artist and former Scala principal dancer Mick Zeni) and Gelsomina. It opens with a festive tango. Gelsomina enters with her small drum slung around her neck\, tousled short hair\, and that smiling\, heart-tugging expression. The suite continues with Zampanò’s act\, the shooting gallery\, the wedding\, and a jazz dance. Zampanò’s affair with a street woman saddens Gelsomina. Her variation is one of the most moving moments in the ballet. Gelsomina then encounters many characters: musicians\, the Fool—with whom she dances a poignant pas de deux that reveals the personalities of both characters—soldiers\, sandwich girls\, ballerinas\, and the Pierrots. \n“Fellini and Giulietta Masina were very fond of the ballet\,” recalls Guido Pistoni. “Whenever she could\, she came to see La strada. I remember one time in Rome when my uncle called her on stage at the end of the performance and asked the orchestra’s first trumpet to play Gelsomina’s theme for her. Such pathos! The students worked very well\, fully focused on both the technical and interpretive aspects. During the rehearsal weeks\, with the help of their teachers\, I saw them grow artistically. I’m glad this Italian work has been brought back to life.” \nFrancesca Pedroni \nACCADEMIA TEATRO ALLA SCALA \nFONDAZIONE ACCADEMIA TEATRO ALLA SCALA \nEstablished as a Foundation in 2001\, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala boasts over two centuries of history\, thanks to the Teatro alla Scala’s long-standing commitment to education and training—dating back to 1813\, the year the Ballet School was founded. Still today\, it is considered one of the most prestigious institutions for the teaching of dance. \nWith a faculty composed of artists and professionals from Teatro alla Scala\, alongside leading experts from the performing arts sector\, the Academy now covers virtually all professions in the live performance industry. It offers a broad catalogue of courses organized into four departments: Music\, Dance\, Stagecraft\, and Management. This includes training programs\, advanced specialization courses\, first- and second-level academic diplomas equivalent to university degrees\, as well as first-level master’s programs\, workshops\, and summer intensives. \n \nDANCE DEPARTMENT \nThe Dance Department\, directed since 2003 by Frédéric Olivieri—who has also recently returned to lead the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company—offers courses for all age groups and educational needs in the field of dance. In addition to the Ballet School\, the Department includes a five-year introductory dance program designed for children aged 6 to 10\, which introduces them to dance through playful and expressive activities; an advanced training course in classical and contemporary dance for dancers wishing to refine their skills across different styles and choreographic methods; and first- and second-level academic programs aimed at training highly qualified classical dance teachers. \nAt the heart of the Department lies the Ballet School. Founded in 1813 by Francesco Benedetto Ricci\, it has been led over the years by renowned ballerinas and distinguished masters\, and has trained dancers of the highest calibre. Just a few names: Carla Fracci\, Liliana Cosi\, Luciana Savignano\, Oriella Dorella\, Roberto Bolle\, Nicoletta Manni. Structured as an eight-year program\, the School awards a diploma with a dual specialization in classical-academic dance and modern-contemporary dance—responding to the needs of international companies that now demand dancers proficient in an increasingly broad and diverse repertoire. \nDuring their training\, students take part in various productions of the Teatro alla Scala season and perform on important stages in Italy and abroad. A key element in their artistic development is the opportunity to interpret iconic choreographies by past and present masters such as Marius Petipa\, August Bournonville\, George Balanchine\, Maurice Béjart\, Anton Dolin\, Mario Pistoni\, Mauro Bigonzetti\, Mats Ek\, William Forsythe\, Jiří Kylián\, José Limón\, Roland Petit\, Angelin Preljocaj\, and Demis Volpi.Additionally\, works have been created specifically for the Ballet School by choreographers such as Davide Bombana\, Shantala Shivalingappa\, Matteo Levaggi\, Emanuela Tagliavia\, and Valentino Zucchetti. Also worth noting are the new choreographic versions of major repertoire titles signed by Frédéric Olivieri\, including Lo schiaccianoci\, Cenerentola (commissioned by the Bracco Foundation)\, and La fille mal gardée. \nFRANCESCA PEDRONI \nDance critic for the newspaper Il manifesto and the magazine Danza&Danza. For the television channel Classica HD (formerly Sky Classica\, channel 124)\, she worked as writer and director of the series Danza in Scena\, producing over 70 documentaries dedicated to artists such as William Forsythe\, Pina Bausch\, and Alessandra Ferri. For cinema\, she wrote and directed the docufilm Roberto Bolle. L’arte della Danza\, produced by Classica and Artedanza srl. She curated the DVD collection I capolavori della danza\, published by Classica HD in collaboration with Corriere della Sera. Since 2000\, she has taught Dance History at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala and leads ballet talks for the Teatro alla Scala’s Under30/35 subscription program. \nInfo&TICKETS \nTICKETS \n6 euros \nPURCHASING TICKETS \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nFonderia Box Office: the box office opens 30 minutes before the start of the performance (Via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are unnumbered. \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \nPhone & WhatsApp: 3341023554\nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:FELLINIANA – Omaggio a Fellini
DESCRIPTION:FELLINIANA – Tribute to Fellini is a performance that evokes the universe of the great Maestro and his most famous films through the choreography of Monica Casadei.\nThe bodies of the Artemis Danza Company move between dance and contemporary circus\, dream and reality\, accompanied by the unforgettable music composed by Nino Rota for Federico Fellini. Euphoric and sparkling choreography\, virtuosity\, and an irresistible humanity animate this performance\, making it a poetic and sensitive manifesto that celebrates the history of Italian cinema and music. \nWatch the video on YouTube \nCREDITS \nChoreography\, direction\, sets\, and lighting Monica Casadei\nMusic Nino Rota\nCostumes Daniela Usai \nProduction Compagnia Artemis Danza\nIn collaboration with Teatro Municipale di Piacenza\, Teatro Comunale di Bologna\, Istituti Italiani di Cultura in Chicago\, Hong Kong\, Jakarta\, Prague\, Tunis\, Zurich\nProject selected for Parma 2020+21 Italian Capital of Culture\nWith the contribution of Ministry of Culture\, Emilia Romagna Region – Department of Culture \nREAD MORE \nFelliniana revolves around the marvelous celebration of 8 ½ and lives through the joys and hopes of the clowns\, the confessions of Gradisca\, the voices and dialogues taken from the films\, the scent of La Dolce Vita\, the thousand colors of the circus\, and the poetic power of Nino Rota. \nA Fellinian breath enveloped the conception of the creation\, which begins with a rarefied\, intimate\, philosophical start\, moves into the surreal realism of the Romagna of Amarcord\, and then warmly slides into the magical\, crazy\, and extreme world of the circus. A dancing people\, a great theater of human illusion\, poetic and ironic. \nAn idea of a world where diversity is wealth\, where poetry is nourishment\, and where all human beings\, with their fragilities and divergences\, can feel free and welcomed\, for each one of them has a place on the merry-go-round of life designed by the great Maestro. \nMonica Casadei \nMONICA CASADEI \nOf Ferrara origin and with a degree in Philosophy with honors\, with a thesis on Plato and dance\, Monica Casadei\, after an athletic career in rhythmic gymnastics\, devoted herself to the study of classical and modern dance\, first in Italy\, then in London\, and finally in Paris\, where she met choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz\, and master André Cognard Hanshi So shihan\, with whom she still practices the martial art of Aikido. In 1994\, she founded the company Artemis Danza in France\, and in 1997\, she moved to Italy\, where she began an intense production activity that now counts over fifty original creations. From 1998 to 2007\, the company was in residence at the Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma\, while from 2014 to 2018\, it was in artistic residence at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Essential to Monica Casadei’s artistic research were her encounters with Federico Fellini\, the investigative journey linked to the great lyrical tradition with performances such as Il Barbiere di Siviglia and the series of creations dedicated to opera heroines reinterpreted in a contemporary key (examples include Traviata\, Tosca X\, Carmen K\, Butterfly – Colori Proibiti\, Private Callas\, Puccini’s Opera.Voci di Donne). Artemis Danza’s productions are characterized by contamination with different artistic\, cultural\, and geographical areas\, as well as the exploration of urban places and spaces that become the stage for performative actions. In addition to its production activities\, Artemis supports\, produces\, and promotes young authors and carries out many activities for audience development. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \nFull price: 10 euros \nDiscounted under 30\, dance schools\, Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa\, over 65\, members of CRAL Comune di Reggio Emilia: 6 euros \nDiscounted under 8: 3 euros \nTICKET PURCHASE \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nFonderia Box Office: the box office opens half an hour before the performance starts (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \nPhone and WhatsApp: 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:THE FRIDAS - PREVIEW
DESCRIPTION:Danza in Fonderia\, the CCN/Aterballetto series\, hosts an exclusive preview of Sofia Nappi’s latest creation.\n \nThe Fridas is inspired by Frida Kahlo’s painting The Two Fridas and explores the complex theme of human identity through a relationship of complicity and contrast\, going beyond simple dualism. It explores the complex theme of human identity through a relationship of complicity and contrast between two dancers. Mirrored and divergent movements embody inner conflicts and harmonies\, while physical expressiveness and the use of space (in the Komoco language\, considered a living element capable of both uniting and dividing) represent two complementary and essential aspects of the research. \n \nHowever\, the relationship between the two characters on stage goes beyond simple dualism. Through gestures that reveal intimacy and vulnerability\, challenging conventions of masculinity\, the dancers navigate emotional states and become an expressive vehicle for the countless facets contained within each individual. The painting “explodes\,” and the duet thus reflects the ambiguity and multiple personalities that also characterized Kahlo herself: \n“Within me\, multiple identities are hidden; I am a mélange. A mix between a Mexican and an Indigenous person\, but also a Mexican and a European. I am a painter and a wife. I love both women and men […]. In my painting\, I want to represent precisely this: all my ambiguity—no\, not ambiguity\, my many personalities\, my complexity.” (From *The Secret Lover of Frida Kahlo* by Caroline Bernard). \n \nDesigned for both theatrical and unconventional or museum spaces\, The Fridas can be observed from different perspectives\, adding nuances to the exploration of human essence and celebrating its complexity. However\, the ending invites an ironic acceptance of life’s chaos: through parodic movements\, the dancers find in humor the balm to keep facing the challenges of existence. \nSOFIA NAPPI \nSofia Nappi is a choreographer and the artistic director of KOMOCO\, a contemporary dance company based in Italy and active internationally\, which she co-founded together with her first muses\, Adriano Popolo Rubbio and Paolo Piancastelli. From the very beginning\, Sofia’s early creations with KOMOCO won prestigious awards: the Partner Introdans Award (Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition 2021)\, and the 1st Prize\, the Critics’ Prize\, and the Production Prize at the 35th International Choreography Competition Hannover\, awarded by the Tanja Liedtke Foundation and Marco Goecke (2021). \nCurrently\, KOMOCO’s works choreographed by Sofia are presented in Italy and on international tours across Europe\, as well as in Mexico\, Canada\, and Serbia\, hosted by renowned institutions and international festivals. As an independent choreographer\, Sofia also creates new works for internationally recognized dance companies and theaters\, including Nederlands Dans Theater 2\, Leipzig Ballet\, Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart\, Ballet BC\, Göteborg Opera\, National Theatre Mannheim\, Staatsoper Hannover\, and Scottish Dance Theatre. \nIn parallel\, Sofia Nappi’s work extends to research and professional training at an international level\, in close collaboration with the dancers of KOMOCO. Since 2022\, she has been organizing the biannual company workshop “Komoco Intensive” in Florence\, welcoming professional dancers from all over the world. Sofia graduated from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York; her training has also been significantly influenced by her close connection with the Hofesh Shechter Dance Company and her study of Gaga\, the movement language developed by renowned choreographer Ohad Naharin. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \n3 euros \nPURCHASING TICKETS \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nFonderia Box Office: the box office opens one hour before the start of the performance (Via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are unnumbered. \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \nPhone & WhatsApp: 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:Made in Italy 34.0
DESCRIPTION: \n\n \n\n \nDouble performance: \nSaturday\, March 29 – 6:30 PM\nSaturday\, March 29 – 9:00 PM \nThe protagonists of the evening are the dancers of Agora Coaching Project\, a high-level training project promoted and supported by MM Contemporary Dance Company and A.S.D Progetto Danza of Reggio Emilia\, with artistic direction by Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli. Launched in 2010\, the course is gaining full recognition in the European dance world and boasts collaborations with internationally renowned teachers and choreographers. \n \nINSOMNIA \nChoreography: Sergei Vanaev\nMusic: Jim Croce\, Hildur Guonadottir and Johann Johannsson\, G. F. Händel\, Murcof\, Becky G x Luisa Sonza x Papatinho\nCostumes: Nuvia Valestri\nChoreography Assistant: Stefano Neri\nDuration: 25 min. \nThe world of dreams cannot be fully understood by the human mind.\nThe images and spirits we encounter in our dreams are fragments of our uncontrolled imagination.\nVery often\, we come across people or creatures unknown to us. We find ourselves in uncomfortable situations\, evoking emotions that range from terror and fear to joy and euphoria. \nVisiting the dream world is inevitable for us\, as it is linked to our physical need for sleep. However\, sometimes\, due to the complexities of daily life\, we experience the unpleasant condition of INSOMNIA\, caused by troubling thoughts. Desperately\, we try to relax and transition into the seemingly peaceful state of the dream world… \nBut what would be better: a nightmare or INSOMNIA?\n\nSHARE_Prima Nazionale \nChoreography: Massimo Gerardi\nMusic: Frank Bretschneider\, CoH\, Kanding Ray\nLighting Design: Massimo Gerardi\nCostumes: Nuvia Valestri\nDuration: 25 min. \nSHARE represents a moment of interaction between the dancers on stage and the audience\, going beyond mere aesthetic or athletic gestures.\nThis event focuses on the expression of personal thoughts and individual identity\, encouraging each participant to step forward and support others in their goals. The dancers embody the idea of the *Homo Empathicus*\, a figure often overlooked in our era but essential for fostering genuine relationships\, free from technological interference: the body and voice thus become the instruments of this shared experience. \nDescartes’ famous motto “I think\, therefore I am” almost transforms into “I participate\, therefore I am.” \n\nAGORA COACHING PROJECT \nAgora Coaching Project is an annual dance training project aimed at dancers aged 18 to 22\, based in Reggio Emilia. Founded in 2010\, it is directed by Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli and is promoted and supported by the MM Contemporary Dance Company and the Centro Permanente Danza of Reggio Emilia. The project aims to train artists who are ready to approach the variety of the international dance market with flexibility\, artists capable of responding to different technical and stylistic demands that come from this very market. The project aims to offer a wide range of stimuli\, both technical and cultural\, and fosters exchange between students and choreographers\, each coming from different and interesting backgrounds in the international scene. Agora offers the students the opportunity to meet renowned choreographers with different stylistic orientations\, and over the years\, many illustrious names have participated. Various qualified teachers\, each with proven experience in the field\, collaborate with Michele Merola and Enrico Morelli to bring the project to life. \n\nINFO AND TICKETS \nTICKETS\nFull price: 10 euros\nReduced under 30\, dance schools\, Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa\, over 65\, CRAL members of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia: 6 euros\nReduced under 8: 3 euros \nTICKET PURCHASE \nTickets can be purchased online at www.biglietteriafonderia39.it \nThe box office opens one hour before the start of the performance \nTickets are not numbered \nCONTACTS \nCell and WhatsApp: 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:STABAT MATER - OPEN REHEARSAL
DESCRIPTION:The Compagnia Artemis Danza / Monica Casadei offers the audience at the Fonderia something unique\, opening the doors to the creative process of its new production Stabat Mater\, which will premiere at the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro on March 14. \nSTABAT MATER \nChoreography\, direction\, sets\, lights\, and costumes Monica Casadei\nMusic Gioachino Rossini\nProduction Compagnia Artemis Danza/Monica Casadei\nIn collaboration with AMAT and Teatro Rossini di Pesaro\nWith the contribution of Ministry of Culture\, Regione Emilia-Romagna – Department of Culture\, Municipality of Parma \nThe creation\, signed by the choreographer from Ferrara Monica Casadei\, is dedicated to Gioachino Rossini’s Stabat Mater; a choral tribute to the soul of women\, to their universal love\, embodied by the mother par excellence. The performance represents the evolution of a multi-year research journey that the choreographer has dedicated to the encounter between dance and religious music.\nStabat Mater is a collective prayer\, timeless and universal\, for a mater dolorosa\, a woman’s heart broken by pain\, a mater lacrimosa that crystallizes in the moment of lament the tragedy of losing a child. \nThe body becomes the medium to tell the emotional experience of those facing the transformation of the primordial bond between mother and child. The performance becomes a cry and a whisper\, noise and silence\, giving voice to a love that transcends loss and never ceases to illuminate\, even in the darkest moments. \nStabat Mater offers a profound and moving fresco of maternity\, in a deep and lyrical tension between pain and hope\, making the mother’s suffering a universal symbol of empathy and resilience. \nThe power of Rossini’s composition plays a crucial role in conveying the emotional intensity of the text\, while the dynamic music elevates the narrative from lament to a song of hope. \nMONICA CASADEI \nOriginally from Ferrara and holding a degree in Philosophy with honors with a thesis on Plato and dance\, Monica Casadei\, after a competitive career in rhythmic gymnastics\, dedicated herself to the study of classical and modern dance\, first in Italy\, then in London\, and finally in Paris where she met choreographers Pierre Doussaint and Isabelle Doubouloz\, as well as the master André Cognard Hanshi So shihan\, with whom she still practices the martial art of Aikido. In 1994\, she founded the company Artemis Danza in France\, and in 1997\, she moved to Italy\, where she began an intense production activity that\, to this day\, counts over fifty original creations. From 1998 to 2007\, the company was in residence at the Fondazione Teatro Due in Parma\, while from 2014 to 2018\, it was in artistic residence at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Fundamental to Monica Casadei’s artistic research were her encounters with Federico Fellini\, her investigation into the great lyrical tradition with performances such as Il Barbiere di Siviglia and the series of works dedicated to the heroines of opera reinterpreted in a contemporary key (such as Traviata\, Tosca X\, Carmen K\, Butterfly – Colori Proibiti\, Private Callas\, Puccini’s Opera.Voci di Donne). The productions of Artemis Danza are characterized by their fusion with different artistic\, cultural\, and geographical realms\, as well as the exploration of urban spaces that become the stage for performative actions. Alongside its production activity\, Artemis supports\, produces\, and promotes young authors and carries out numerous activities to educate the public. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \n3 euros \nFree for children under 6 \nTICKET PURCHASE \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nBox office at Fonderia: The box office opens half an hour before the show starts (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \nCell and WhatsApp: 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:PerAria
DESCRIPTION:Go outside\,\nstand like this…\n…with your head in the air.\nBe silent\,\nand listen to the wind\,\nit has all the answers… \nOnce again this year\, the Sosta Palmizi Company returns to Fonderia to make us dream\, with a show dedicated to children from 5 years old. \nWith the freedom of spirit typical of childhood\, the lightness and depth of imagination\, a small room can become a place for great adventures: with eyes closed and ears wide open\, the air and the wind whisper incredible stories to us! They can take us to that strange country\, Anarea\, the country without winds where everything is still and moving is a fascinating challenge. Or to the Land of Flying Hats\, where the gusts of wind are so strong they swap people’s hats and identities! PerAria takes us into a world where adult logic becomes increasingly rarefied\, making room for curiosity\, wonder\, creativity\, play\, and emotions\, inviting the audience to become lighter and to stay (…at least for the duration of the show) a little more with their head perAria! \nThe idea for the show came from the desire to create a tribute to life\, lightness\, and carefree living. The authors were inspired by air and wind as vehicles and conduits of experiences and emotions\, creating a nested narrative containing other stories born from the illogical\, stimulating\, and whirlwind curiosity of childhood and creativity. \n\n\n\n“We are overwhelmed by the energy of dance\, emotions pass through movement\, light and delicate\, as light as air\, or wild and explosive.”\nNella Califano | AltreVelocità \n\n\n\n \n\n \nCredits \n \n\n\nchoreography and stage creation Giorgio Rossi\ndramaturgy and original texts Savino Maria Italiano\nperformers Anna Di Bari\, Verdiana Gelao\, and Savino Maria Italiano\nmusic Livio Minafra\ncostumes Roberta Vacchetta\nlighting design Roberto Cupertino\nscenography Gisella Butera and Matilde Gori / Zaches Scenography Atelier\nproduction Associazione Sosta Palmizi\nco-production I Nuovi Scalzi\nresidential support Centro di Residenza della Toscana (Fondazione Armunia Castiglioncello – CapoTrave/Kilowatt Sansepolcro)\, HOME Centro Creazione Coreografica (PG)\, Comune di Barletta\, Teatro Fonderia Leopolda Comune di Follonica (GR)\, Ad Arte Spettacoli\, Zaches Teatro and Ass. Amici di Duccio\nthanks to Azioni in Danza/Barletta\, Olga Mascolo \nDuration 50′ \nShow for children aged 5 and above \n\n\n \nSOSTA PALMIZI/GIORGIO ROSSI \nGiorgio Rossi is the co-founder in 1984 of the Compagnia Sosta Palmizi and its subsequent Association\, of which he is still co-artistic director along with Raffaella Giordano. Giorgio Rossi\, as E. Satie would say\, “is a dancing mammal.” At the age of 4\, after seeing the Swiss clown Dimitri\, he realized that theater was his life. He owes his artistic success to having had the opportunity to witness the works of great masters (Kantor\, Brook\, Bausch\, Carlson)\, and with some of them\, he learned the art of the stage\, both as a student and as a performer. He collaborates with artists from other fields\, such as: P. Fresu\, B. Bertolucci\, T. Gylliam\, S. Benni\, P. Turci\, L. Poli\, D. Riondino\, P. Rossi\, Banda Osiris\, G. Mirabassi\, M. Rabbia\, M. Baliani\, and many others; he participated as a dancing author in the show *Vieni via con me* by R. Saviano and F. Fazio. In 2013\, he choreographed all the movements for *Carmen* by Bizet with L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio. With over 30 productions\, his shows have traveled the world thanks to the universality of the poetic art of movement. In recent years\, he has created three performances aimed at younger audiences (*Con il naso all’insù*\, *Costellazioni. Pronti\, partenza… spazio!*\, *Esercizi di fantastica*). In 2019\, he curated the formative and creative residency at the École des Sables in Dakar for the exchange project “Italie\, Culture\, Afrique.” He has collaborated with the company El Grito both as a performer (*Gran Circo Rossini*) and as a choreographer (*Uomo Calamita*). In 2021 and 2022\, he worked as an author and performer alongside R. Goretti and M. Bonechi for the production *Gli ultimi giorni di Pompeo* by Andrea Pazienza. In 2022\, he began a collaboration with composer and pianist Livio Minafra (winner of the Top Jazz awards in 2005\, 2008\, and 2011); their encounter gave birth to *Agata*\, an improvisation project for dance and piano. In 2023\, the partnership with Minafra was confirmed by a new production that expanded the collaboration to Savino Italiano in the creation of *In_vento*\, a work on the theme of air dedicated to younger generations\, a prequel to the production *perAria*\, which will debut in 2024. In 2023\, he also directed the staging and choreography movements of *Vertigine della Lista*\, a performance by and with F. Albanese\, S. Baldini\, L. De Simone\, and L. Valli\, born from the encounter with the essay of the same name by U. Eco. For many years\, both in Italy and abroad\, he has had a significant involvement in education\, where workshops and collaborations with dance\, theater\, and circus schools contribute to the dissemination of the choreographic arts. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \n6 euros \nTICKET PURCHASE \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nFonderia Box Office: The box office opens one hour before the performance starts (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \nCell and WhatsApp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

SUMMARY:14.610
DESCRIPTION:The title of the performance is 14.610\, a number that hints at something never explicitly mentioned. But it is a key\, like the code to a hotel room\, that allows easy entry into the show. It is a small and sophisticated puzzle to solve. The latest work by Claudia Catarzi has something intimate and shameless. \nFollowing the performance\, a discussion with the choreographer will take place\, joined by Carmelo A. Zapparrata\, journalist and dance critic for *Repubblica-Bologna* and *Hystrio*. \n\nCredits \nby and with Claudia Catarzi\nmusic by Julien Desprez\nscenography by Fabio Giommarelli \nco-produced by Company Blu\, La Manufacture – Centre de Développement Chorégraphique National Bordeaux Nouvelle-Aquitaine\, Armunia/Festival Inequilibrio/Centro di residenze artistiche Castiglioncello\, with the support of the Regione Toscana and the MiC \ncreated in 2023 \nDiscover more \nIt’s hard to describe the feeling of dancing almost three meters high on a surface so narrow it seems more like a pedestal than a platform. From the ground\, that is\, from the stage of the Teatro Rosignano Solvay\, where the show debuted for the Inequilibrio festival\, the latest work by Claudia Catarzi has something intimate and shameless. Shameless because the spectator\, compelled to keep their eyes upwards\, admires the technical skill\, explicit and evident\, of a figure that doesn’t perform acrobatics\, but nonetheless constructs a tense and sculptural choreography\, made of plastic poses\, clear and defined gestures\, even jumps. Although the tone is far from baroque – a certain austerity prevails\, though never frigid – there is something triumphant in this construction that resembles the base for a Renaissance equestrian statue. Indeed\, in the dramatic arc of the show\, the satisfaction of reaching the top is palpable. As if we were in the mountains. Looking down from above is satisfying\, but it also gives you chills. Not only because it’s easy to fall\, but perhaps because at some point from this peak\, the only thing left to do is descend. \n \nAnd this is the other intimate dimension that runs through the entire show and speaks to us of fragility and strength\, of change and resistance. The title of the show is 14.610\, a number that hints at something never explicitly mentioned. But it is a key\, like the code to a hotel room\, that allows easy entry into the show. It’s a small and sophisticated puzzle to solve. Not too difficult\, to be honest\, but we want to leave it unresolved\, so as not to spoil the pleasure of discovery. In the second part of the work\, the pedestal reveals itself as a steep slide\, and the descent becomes a sort of struggle; the muscular body strains to defeat the weight of gravity\, as in the whirls of some Giambologna statue. Even though the aesthetics are tied to a sober normality\, which makes the image even more intimate and common. About ten years ago\, Catarzi debuted in her solo 40\,000 Square Centimeters\, again a number for a title\, striking for presence and power in the small space drawn on the stage of only four square meters. Ten years later\, this space has shrunk but has risen into the air. Not a diving board to jump from\, but a mountain – like life – to embrace and climb. \n(Rodolfo Sacchettini – July 18\, 2023) \nCLAUDIA CATARZI \nAfter training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence\, she began her career working with the Micha Van Hoecke Ensemble. She later danced with companies such as Dorky Park Constanza Macras (Berlin)\, Compagnia Virgilio Sieni\, Aldes/Roberto Castello\, Company Blu/Alessandro Certini and Charlotte Zerbey\, En-Knap Group/Iztok Kovač (Ljubljana)\, László Hudi (J. Nadj – Budapest)\, among others. In 2009\, she was part of Choreoroam\, a research project by the Israeli choreographer Yasmeen Godder (Tel Aviv). She was later invited to follow the work of the Batsheva Dance Company by Ohad Naharin. She has collaborated with choreographer Ambra Senatore since the beginning of her company’s research work between Italy and France\, participating in all her early works. Since 2011\, she has been working on personal creations. The solo Arrivò senza colore won the co-production Sosta Palmizi\, and Un giorno\, a duo in collaboration with Mariano Nieddù\, was a finalist at the “Premio Equilibrio 2010” (directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui). Her two latest creations see her sharing the stage for the first time with two female figures: Michal Mualem\, a historical dancer in Sasha Waltz’s company\, in A set of timings\, and Claudia Caldarano\, a former dancer of Virgilio Sieni\, in Posare il tempo. The live presence of musician Gianni Maestrucci in Posare il tempo – percussionist of the renowned group Tetraktis – transforms the danced duet into a trio. Claudia Catarzi is currently an associate artist at CDCN of Bordeaux\, La Manufacture | Bordeaux-Nouvelle Aquitaine. \nLearn more \n \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \n6 euros \nTICKET PURCHASE \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nFonderia Ticket Office: the ticket office opens one hour before the start of the show (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACTS FOR RESERVATIONS \nCell and WhatsApp: 3341023554 \nEmail: biglietteria@aterballetto.it

DESCRIPTION:A work by Fabrizio Favale / Le Supplici\, a rare and powerful dance\, at times rhythmic and tribal\, at times ethereal and elusive\, performed by a cast of exceptional dancers. But it also seems to suggest new senses of space and time\, new languages\, impossible intelligences of shapes and movement. \nFrom these premises\, this work moves in search of abstractions of movement that seem to belong to worlds different from the human one. The enigmatic aerial spinning of an ultra-light aluminum backdrop\, operated by the performers at the beginning of the performance\, introduces vast horizons of unknown landscapes. Here\, a series of dances appears and disappears from a distant\, misty place\, illuminated by a light in the background. \n \nThe dancers often work closely together in a woven pattern\, creating atmospheres that are sometimes rhythmic and tribal\, sometimes rarefied and ethereal. \nIn Alce\, zoomorphic figures (some inspired by ancient popular traditions\, others invented) punctuate the choreography\, like an enigmatic dialogue from afar. \nFabrizio Favale \nFabrizio Favale\, Full Scholarship at the American Dance Festival in 1990. DESCRIPTION:If in chat we use the laughing emoji\, are we laughing with it? And if we use the one shedding copious tears? What expression do we really have? Choreographer Kenji Shinohe explores\, through the body and digital technologies\, how emotions are expressed through keyboard symbols. A show that sets aside words to tackle the highly relevant theme of “superficial communication” created by new technologies. \nRecommended age: from 8 years old \n \nCREDITS \nby and with Kenji Shinohe \nlighting design Cristina Fresia \nProduction Fondazione Sipario Toscana \nRecommended age: from 8 years old | running time: 45′ \nDiscover more \nAt the heart of the performance are emojis\, the colorful faces tasked with expressing feelings in digital communication\, and the doubt that their overuse impoverishes and conceals real emotional expressions. \nIf in a chat we use the laughing face emoji\, do we laugh with it? And if we use the one that sheds copious tears\, what face do we really make? But the real question at the core of the work is: how can we recover our true feelings? \n\nChoreographer Kenji Shinohe explores\, through the body and digital technologies\, the way emotions are expressed through the symbols of the keyboard. A performance that sets aside words to address the very contemporary issue of “superficial communication\,” created by new technologies and especially—though not exclusively—used by younger generations. \nKenji Shinohe\nKenji Shinohe is a Japanese choreographer and dancer born in 1990\, currently residing in Wuppertal\, Germany. He started ballroom dancing in early childhood with his grandmother and represented Japan at the Junior World Ballroom Dance Championships when he was a teenager. \nHe studied dance philosophy and art history at the University of Japan\, where he later earned a master’s degree. In 2015\, he received an international exchange student scholarship at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen\, Germany. After graduating in the summer of 2019\, he began his career as a freelance dancer and choreographer. \nAs a dancer\, he has worked with the NEUR TANZ company (Düsseldorf)\, Tanztheater Erfurt (Erfurt)\, Carla Jordão (Cologne)\, Kompanie merighi | mercy (Wuppertal)\, Saeed Hani (Luxembourg)\, Dinamo Danza (Pamplona\, Spain)\, and other international choreographers. \nAs a choreographer\, he was awarded the first prize and the audience award “contact.energy 16” at the 5th Internationales Tanz Theater Festival 2016 in Erfurt\, the Best Newcomer Solo award at the 10th Internationales Tanzfestival SoloDuo NRW in Cologne 2018\, the Best Solo award and the audience award at the SzólóDuó International Dance Festival 2019 in Budapest\, Hungary. In addition\, he won 5 awards at TEATRI RIFLESSI in Catania\, Italy in 2023. He has received international recognition for various choreographic works\, both for his solos and group dances. \nIn his artistic work\, he is interested in uniting body movements in relation to the structures of music\, extending the expression of dance through metanarrative techniques. His choreographic pieces are hosted and performed in many theaters across more than 15 countries and 55 cities. \nInfo\, Tickets\, Workshop \nSUNDAY\, JANUARY 19\, 4:30 PM FAMILY CONTACT \nWORKSHOP LED BY CHOREOGRAPHER LAURA MATANO \nFamily Contact is a moment of sharing between children and parents that seeks to explore new worlds. How to survive emptiness\, oneself\, loneliness? \nDreamlike and subversively political\, Strangers in the Night aims to blend social realism with tragicomic writing\, opposing sentimentality and inviting the audience to reflect on the present through dark and biting humor. A meta-theatrical exploration\, breaking the fourth wall and involving the audience in an escalation of madness\, violence\, and irony… \nSeriously ironic\, the compositional poetics employs the language of defeat to speak of hope\, decay awaiting rebirth\, the fall preceding (perhaps) the desired ascent. \nThe new co-creation signed by Jos Baker\, Linus Jansner and Carlo Massari is part of the research journey on Metamorphoses and marks an important step towards the affirmation of the C&C Company’s distinctive compositional style. \n \nC&C Company \nC&C\, directed by Carlo Massari\, identifies itself as a project dedicated to the creation and development of an evolving artistic language\, aimed at a physical and dramaturgical investigation. It seeks to convey and share energy and creativity in the most direct\, clear\, and real manner possible\, closely related to the pressing contemporary social issues. Characterized by constant and unembellished work\, C&C focuses on the depth of interpersonal relationships with the goal of bringing truth to the stage through a deeply physical language that allows the audience to feel represented within its universality. \nFounded in 2011\, the Company has shown from the start a strong inclination towards hybridization and the transversality in the use of dance in relation to other contemporary performative codes\, establishing and solidifying itself today as a “Amphibian” creative identity. \nAmong its numerous productions\, the most recent include: Beast without Beauty\, Les Miserables\, A Peso Morto\, RIGHT\, Metamorphosis… which have received significant recognition and international tours. The company frequently creates works involving community engagement\, establishing a dialogue that enhances the artistic project: a search for relational truth that characterizes the company’s poetics and is combined with a total imaginative openness capable of bringing the audience closer to the theatrical experience. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \nFull Price: 10 euros \nDiscounted under 30\, dance schools\, Liceo Coreutico Matilde di Canossa\, over 65\, CRAL members of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia: 6 euros \nDiscounted under 8: 3 euros \nHOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nBox Office at Fonderia: the box office opens one hour before the start of the performance (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACT FOR RESERVATIONS \nCell and WhatsApp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

DESCRIPTION:The choreographer Carlo Massari and his company C&C Company return to Fonderia with a new ironic and tragicomic choreography\, Strangers in the Night. \nTuesday\, December 17 at 6:00 PM open rehearsal \nTuesday\, December 17 at 8:30 PM performance \n\nCredits \nIdea and project Carlo Massari \nCo-created and performed by Jos Baker\, Linus Jansner\, Carlo Massari \nIn collaboration with Martina La Ragione\, Chiara Osella \nMusic and sound composition Andreas Moulin \nScript Jos Baker \nTech direction Francesco Massari \nCostume design Chiara Defant \nA production C&C Company \nIn co-production with Oriente Occidente\, Fondazione Nazionale della Danza Aterballetto\, Transart Festival \nSupported by ERT Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione / Teatro Nazionale – focus CARNE \nWith the contribution of Assessorato alla Cultura – Regione Emilia Romagna e MIC – Ministero della Cultura \nDiscover more \n“The old world is dying.\nThe new one is slow to appear.\nAnd in this light-dark\, monsters are born.”\nAntonio Gramsci \nA cross-disciplinary project inspired by Kafka’s The Metamorphosis\, delving deeply and ironically into the subtle line between reality and fiction\, honesty and role-playing\, concrete action and pantomime. \nInfo&Tickets \nTICKETS \nFull Price: 3 euros \nUnder 8: free \nHOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS \n\nONLINE: https://www.biglietteriafonderia39.it/home.aspx\nBox Office at Fonderia: the box office opens one hour before the start of the performance (via della Costituzione 39\, Reggio Emilia).\n\nTickets are not numbered. \nCONTACT FOR RESERVATIONS \nCell and WhatsApp 3341023554 \nEmail biglietteria@aterballetto.it

The evening concludes with Akmé by La casa oscura\, a young emerging company directed by Sabino Barbieri and Núria Argilés. \nWednesday\, December 11 at 18:00 open rehearsal \nWednesday\, December 11 at 20:30 performance \nAkmé \nDirection and choreography: Sabino Barbieri and Núria Argilés\nPerformers: Sabino Barbieri and Núria Argilés\nDramaturgy: Sabino Barbieri\nMusic composition and editing: Leonardo Carletti\nPhotography: Dimitrios Klingopoulos\nTranslation: Sophie Smith \nCo-production: Compagnia Artemis Danza\, Festival Internazionale di Danza Acqui in Palcoscenico BEinSIDE \nAkmé is a piece of contemporary dance performed by two dancers who convey sensations close to the limit. They use their bodies to create images open to the viewer’s interpretation.\nAn inspiring choreography that immerses you in the world of relationships\, both the one you share with another person and the one you have with yourself. \nThe original word Akmé\, which comes from Greek\, signifies the point of greatest intensity\, of highest splendor. \nCan you recall a situation in which you experienced the highest intensity? \nhttps://youtu.be/gFb2j7F84UY?feature=shared \nThat's all \nChoreography\, concept\, and performance by Davide Tagliavini \nSound design by Emanuele Nanni \nArtistic consultancy by Anna Albertarelli\, Monica Barone\, Rosa Maria Rizzi \nProduced by Compagnia Artemis Danza \nCo-produced by Artisti Associati – Centro di Produzione Teatrale \nWith the support of Ministry of Culture\, Emilia-Romagna Region – Department of Culture \nDuration: 25 minutes \nThat’s all: it’s everything. \nIt could be a surrender\, a farewell\, or the beginning of a new act about to start. In a wunderkammer full of gestures and dances\, we find wonder and irony\, body and voice\, sounds\, and characters that appear only to dissolve. Here\, a series of events emerge and vanish\, making space for one another. Starting from themes such as meditation and the emergence of unconscious parts\, the performer articulates the action\, following a flow and rhythmic crescendo that leads him through a small odyssey filled with unexpected situations. Physicality\, changes in state and color\, ignite a play of sparks and invitations\, open to transformation and unpredictability. \n“One thing is certain: time is long\, in these conditions\, and it drives us to fill it with movements that may seem reasonable at first glance\, but to which we are accustomed. You will tell me that it is to prevent our reason from sinking. Agreed. But isn’t it already soaring in the absolute night of the great abysses\, that’s what I sometimes wonder.
