And this is how creators and artists always leave us without really leaving, and this is how memory takes care to keep them alive, to keep them safe. Notte Morricone<\/strong><\/em> is my gift, a devoted tribute to the beauty he gave to the world. Ennio Morricone could be my father or my grandfather; I am a direct heir to his legacy, to the films that (whether masterpieces, good, mediocre, or bad) owe him an immeasurable debt.\u00bb – Marcos Morau<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notte Morricone<\/strong><\/em>, the new creation by CCN \/ Aterballetto<\/strong> created by the award-winning choreographer Marcos Morau<\/strong>, debuts on August 1, 2024<\/strong>, at the Arena Sferisterio<\/strong> during the Macerata Opera Festival<\/strong>. The show features the entire ensemble of the Compagnia Aterballetto<\/strong> and, thanks to a coalition of national co-producers, celebrates the indelible artistic legacy of Oscar-winning Ennio Morricone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On Monday, June 10<\/strong>, at 6:00 PM<\/strong>, the Fonderia audience will have the opportunity to witness the preparation of Notte Morricone.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Open rehearsals are unique moments where one can witness the creation of a show, interact with the artists, and be amazed by the art of dance: a special occasion that allows the audience into the daily routines of the dancers and choreographers.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00abI am often asked what music I listen to<\/strong>, what music inspires me or accompanies me in my daily life, and I always respond the same way: from classical music to contemporary waves, I draw inspiration from many diverse sources, and Ennio Morricone is always at the top of the list.<\/p>\n

Morricone’s music embodies that abstract sense of what is not said and not seen in films<\/strong>. Although it is almost impossible to separate his music from the images it accompanies, Morricone transcends and intertwines with life itself, with memories, and with the beauty and cruelty of a world that continues to move forward, destroying and building itself every day.
\nHis music has a powerful melancholic quality that stems both from the contemplation of the past and from the impossibility of capturing any past experience.<\/p>\n

Classically trained with an avant-garde vocation, Morricone was always beyond the trends of the moment<\/strong>. Today, three years after his death, Morricone continues to inspire artists and visionaries in various fields, and his music belongs to an entire century, having revived many of our great masters.
\nHis music was a genre in itself, and for this evening, I want to build a universe based on his sensibility to confirm that his legacy is more alive than ever and that, as he himself would say, “my music has a life of its own, that can live far from the films for which it was created”.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

Recently appointed Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters<\/strong> by the French Ministry of Culture<\/strong> and selected as the best choreographer of 2023 by the German magazine TANZ<\/strong>, the career of Marcos Morau<\/strong> (born in Valencia in 1982) continues to flourish as a creator and stage director.<\/p>\n

Trained between Barcelona and New York in photography, choreography, theater theory, and dramaturgy, Marcos Morau<\/strong> constructs imaginary worlds and landscapes where image, text, movement, music, and space form a unique universe constantly nourished by cinema, photography, and literature.<\/p>\n

Since 2004, Marcos has directed La Veronal<\/strong>, a company present in top theaters and festivals across more than thirty countries: Th\u00e9\u00e2tre National de Chaillot<\/strong> in Paris, the Venice Biennale<\/strong>, the Avignon Festival<\/strong>, Tanz Im August<\/strong> in Berlin, the RomaEuropa Festival<\/strong>, the SIDance Festival de Seoul<\/strong>, Sadler’s Wells<\/strong> in London, Danse Danse Montreal<\/strong>, among many others.<\/p>\n

In addition to his work with La Veronal<\/strong>, Marcos Morau<\/strong> is an international guest artist in various companies and theaters where he develops new creations, always at the intersection of performing arts and dance: Nederlands Dans Theater<\/strong>, Lyon Opera Ballet<\/strong>, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens<\/strong>, Royal Danish Ballet<\/strong>, and The Royal Ballet of Flanders<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

As the youngest creator to receive the National Dance Award<\/strong>, the highest recognition in Spain, the future of Morau<\/strong> and La Veronal<\/strong> aims to explore new formats and languages where opera, dance, and physical theater interact more than ever, seeking new ways to express and communicate in our turbulent and ever-evolving times.<\/p>\n

Starting from this season, he is an associated artist at the Staatsballett Berlin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
