Intergenerational Dance Workshop – 2022/23 Edition
The CCN / Aterballetto offers the city an intergenerational pathway for young people under 25 and adults over 55, centered on dance and on the popular cultures of different generations: liscio and its social spaces, and the rave with its own unique dimension.

Dal liscio al rave is part of the OVER DANCE cultural welfare project by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto, in partnership with the Fondazione Ravasi Garzanti in Milan (scientific partner) and the Farmacie Comunali Riunite of Reggio Emilia (institutional partner).
Dal liscio al rave (From ballroom dancing to rave) is a lab that aims to re-establish dance and the ballroom as free zones, a space for the intersection of generations, of transmission, of mutual knowledge triggered by encounter and common practice.
Participation, which is completely free, is therefore the starting point for the entire journey, from the experience of the participants in the workshops to the audience that will witness – and be involved in – the final performance.
The places will be the neighbourhoods as the identity expression of the city territory.
In the popular container, the transmission of knowledge occurs through collective and shared actions: it happens in oral narration as well as in musical and body knowledge.
It is a question of constructing a dimension in which this exchange can take place through the entry of one into the universe of the other, discovering common roots, differences and affinities: one in the shoes of the other, shoes made of space, time, and bodily expression.
The groups will form a sort of company of citizens who will work together for an entire season.

The final outcomes of the lab will be presented as moments of common performance: many bodies dancing the same choreographic score in a journey through mazurka and rave music.
