MicroDanze

At Festival Xenos, CCN/Aterballetto explores the Santa Maria della Scala museum complex in Siena with the MicroDanze.

Santa Maria della Scala, Friday 13 November 2026, 6.00 pm / 8.00 pm

On Friday 13 November the Santa Maria della Scala museum complex, as part of Festival Xenos, hosts 4 MicroDanze: Eppur si muove by Francesca Lattuada, Terra Piccola by Antonella Bertoni, Soft P. by Diego Tortelli and An Echo, A Wave by Philippe Kratz.

MicroDanze stems from an intuition of Gigi Cristoforetti for CCN/Aterballetto: to break down the invisible barrier of the stage and turn dance into an intimate, almost confidential encounter.

Choreography Francesca Lattuada
Music Ludwig Van Beethoven (Symphony No. 7 – Second movement – Allegretto)
Costumes Bruno Fatalot
Dancer Vittoria Franchina
Duration 5 minutes

Wrapped in Bruno Fatalot’s refined and impalpable costume, a dancer moves solemnly on a barrel-pedestal, drawn along by the sorrowful, mysterious motif of Beethoven’s Allegretto. Her dance captivates and seduces, as imposing as a song of prayer.

Choreography by Antonella Bertoni
Music Kleintierschaukel – Kidz of Tibet (feat. Badau)
Dancer Matilde Di Ciolo
A production by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto

Duration 10 minutes

A body worked by the earth converses with distances, furiously in a trance, with abrupt halts; it bursts out, quivers, asks, beats, turns, runs away and laughs, leaps and flies. A compressed dance, closed within a geographical (and cultural) enclosure, that looks to the future in search of what is left of our humanity

Choreography Diego Tortelli
Music Tindersticks
Dancers Veronica Galdo, Matteo Capetola
A production by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto
Duration 6 minutes

It is a dance conceived to inhabit ever-changing spaces, places not designed to hold it but transformed by its presence. Sensuality becomes the device through which these spaces are traversed and made inhabitable.

In being watched and in watching, a subtle, shared emotional tension arises, made of respect and mutual vulnerability. A closeness that does not intrude, but grazes.

"An Echo, a wave" by Philippe Kratz, the new Aterballetto pas de deux

Choreography by Philippe Kratz
Sound designer Tommaso Michelini
Dancers Gaia Mondini, Kiran Gezels
A production by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto
Duration 10 minutes

A duet inspired by the Mediterranean as a symbolic space of encounters, departures and transformations, in which the dancers’ movement mirrors the unbroken flow of the sea and its contradictions: wonder and tragedy, closeness and distance.
