Meet the coreographer! is an educational project curated by Annika Pannitto for children aged 7 and over. The workshop unfolds across a series of encounters with some of the choreographers who have marked the evolution of dance over the past sixty years and have proposed an expansion of its traditional meaning.
The title takes its cue from the expression Meet the Artist, which usually denotes the moment when the artist is invited to talk with the audience to share the process behind a performance. Although not live, the project makes it possible to meet the choreographers through their works, to begin a journey of learning and to discover how dance and choreography have evolved and questioned their own history, profoundly changing the use of the body and its relationship with movement.
The idea is to bring children closer not only to the individual works, but also to the context in which they were created, to the processes that made them possible, and to the exercises and studies that the artists developed to build their own path and through which they contributed to the evolution of the live arts. For the autumn season of Danza in Fonderia, the choreographer in focus will be William Forsythe.
Annika Pannitto (Italy, 1981) is a choreographer, dancer and researcher in the field of contemporary choreography. For fifteen years she has also devoted herself to teaching in a variety of contexts, with students of all ages and levels. Her work deals with the relationship between dance and choreography and starts from the human body and its relationship with space and time. She qualified as a teacher and dancer at the National Academy of Dance in Rome, and as a choreographer in the Master of Choreography at the ArtEZ art institute in the Netherlands. Her works have been hosted in various European contexts, such as the Schouwburg theatre in Rotterdam, the Atelier Re.Al in Lisbon, the Diskurs Festival in Giessen and the Centro Danza Canal in Madrid. She collaborates regularly with artists from other disciplines to enrich her practice and learn from other artistic paths. Together with designer Erica Preli, she has curated the publication Table Conversation since 2012. She lives and works in Madrid.
