Project no. 1 – Edition no. 1
DANCE YOUR TIME – SEASONAL PROGRAMME
“DANCING IN THE PRESENT WITH AN EYE TO THE FUTURE”
Professional Area: Artistic and performing arts production
The programme aims to provide participants with the technical tools necessary to deepen their understanding of movement and contemporary dance languages through lessons, meetings, and field projects, offering and sharing knowledge, skills, and artistic experiences useful to enrich reflection and strengthen tools with the goal of expanding and specialising the technical and attitudinal background of young dancers approaching the professional world.
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to adopt various styles of contemporary dance, adapting their creativity to technique in order to manage non-theatrical spaces of expression, including unconventional or technologically mediated settings. They will be able to work within productions involving both small and large ensembles, with specific attention to staging processes in relation to venues and different audience formats.
The project modules are:
• Module 1 – Composition and techniques in contemporary dance – 50 hours
• Module 2 – Repertoires and choreographies in contemporary dance – 50 hours
• Module 3 – Performance and individual development – 50 hours.
Each training session is based on an experiential approach and includes lessons, meetings, and field projects, sharing and comparing knowledge, skills, and artistic experiences to enrich reflection and strengthen the participants’ competences.
Through action and reflection on action, dancers enhance their learning ability as well as their capacity to adapt and master the stage as a familiar space. Reflection also allows them to value existing knowledge and to modify or integrate it with new techniques, enabling meaningful learning that fosters creativity, interpretative skills, and a greater ability to perform in non-traditional contexts. Experimentation and the learning of new creative processes and dance languages are further supported by the relationship with the instructor.
The instructors are internationally renowned dancers and choreographers, capable of identifying talent and contributing to the development of effective learning approaches, encouraging dancers to take risks and adopt dance styles and models appropriate to various contexts. A constructive relationship activates proactive processes and pushes dancers toward a greater mastery of their artistic expression, enhancing expressiveness and relational abilities.
Each session includes a theoretical phase to learn dance techniques and a practical phase in which dancers can experiment with what they have learned and improve their performance through continuous feedback from the instructor. Every session involves experimentation with the theoretical content and simulation activities under the supervision of the instructor. During these simulations, participants will try out different stylistic approaches, working in hypothetical non-theatrical spaces and responding to variable spatial dynamics.
A final performance presentation is foreseen.
