A STEP BEYOND

“Methodologies, languages and skills for the dance of tomorrow”
Operation Ref. PA 2022-17937/RER, approved by the Emilia-Romagna Region with Regional Council Resolution no. 1951/2022 of 14/11/2022 and co-financed with ESF+ 2021-2027 and Emilia-Romagna Region resources
Project No. 2 – Edition No. 1

“Over limited – Towards an integrated dialogue between dance and disability”
Professional Area: Artistic and performance production

The project trains a figure capable of working for the valorisation of differences, viewed not as limits, but as resources and starting point for a common creative path, using inclusive dance approaches and didactic tools. A figure who, knowing the impact of dance on different forms of disability (motor, psychic, sensory), is able to adequately gather information to identify the objectives of a path of inclusiveness, creating an accessible common language aimed at guaranteeing the acquisition of the same technical elements to all participants in an accumulation perspective. He/she will know how to work with groups of different size and type, how to create and present performances, how to give feedback.

Aterballetto - Fondazione Nazionale della Danza

The project is specifically aimed at operators in the world of performance with an interest in the theme of disability and involving, as trainers, the main artists with disabilities on the national and international scene
The project, of a total of 150 hours of which 20 hours of project work, is structured in 5 modules

– Module 1 – Dance and performing arts as a means of social and territorial inclusion (32 hours)
– Module 2 – Dance and integrated practices addressed to people with mental, intellectual and sensory disabilities (28 hours)
– Module 3 – Dance didactics and operational tools (28 hours)
– Module 4 – Total Physical Theatre Language (31 hours)
– Module 5 – Creating inclusive performances (31 hours)

At the end of the course the figure will therefore be able to use dance, improvisation and movement as a form of inclusion for an encounter and profound communication between people, whatever their abilities or disabilities, adapting a didactics centred on body-expressive-communicative activities, experimenting with alternative and universal languages.

    IN-PERSON LESSONS:
In-person activities will be carried out by artists, choreographers, or dancers who have created their own models of interaction with people in fragile conditions. The active mode in which they will recount and simulate the themes covered by the modules allows participants to acquire skills experientially.

    SIMULATIONS:
Simulations allow users to experience contexts, actions, processes provided by trainers and understand their potential uses and limitations. Participants can compare with the group and trainers, creating conditions for constructive exchange.

    EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOPS:
The methodology allows operators to experience dance, to be present with all senses, and to rediscover the strength and freedom to express themselves in relation to others, to space, to context.

    TESTIMONIALS:
These are moments of comparison mainly realized by disabled dancers/artists who have overcome the barrier of the physical body to create creative artistic productions. The impact of the testimony (which is planned in each training module) allows operators to identify best practices, models, strategies to implement their own operational toolkit.
