AUDITION – Dance project for seniors

WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Commissioned by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto, in collaboration with the Ballet Preljocaj, choreographer Angelin Preljocaj explores a central theme in our society, and in the sensitivity of each of us: the body that transforms with the ageing of the years.

The choreography is part of an evening that also includes a creation by Rachid Ouramdane. The entire programme profoundly challenges the canons of beauty and virtuosity and approaches the theme from the point of view of dance.

Unlike other important experiences, which have sought to prolong the careers of dancers, in this project the focus is poetic, and crystallises truly universal questions. The central one is suggested to us precisely by Preljocaj: what is the age of a body?

FND/Aterballetto and Angelin Preljocaj are looking for 7 senior performers with these requirements:

– Age 65 years or over
– With a strong desire to explore and create with a contemporary dance choreographer
– Regular or daily physical activity (walking, running, climbing, yoga, martial arts, knitting, gardening…)

Stage experience will be appreciated but is not a requirement to participate in the project (circus, theatre, mime, dance ….).

Auditions (by invitation only)

The invitation is to audition at one of the three venues, the one located nearest to the candidate’s home:

– 03 and 04 November 2022, Paris, Chaillot – Théâtre National de la Danse
– 08 and 09 November 2022, Aix-en-Provence, Pavillon Noir/Ballet Preljocaj
– 15 and 16 November 2022, Reggio Emilia (Italy), Fonderia – Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto

Please send a cover letter and a short video (2-3 minutes to introduce yourself and show your personality, your talents and everything you would like to share with the choreographer).
