Antologie. Nuove letture del corpo (Anthologies. New Readings of the Body)

Danza in Fonderia returns — the dance series curated by the National Choreographic Centre / Aterballetto and hosted at its venue in via della Costituzione 39, Reggio Emilia.

The new edition is titled Antologie. Nuove letture del corpo (Anthologies. New Readings of the Body) — a journey made of stages, stories, and narratives that reinterpret the human body through performances, open rehearsals, talks, and a Dance Week entirely dedicated to the CCN/Aterballetto.

As in a literary anthology, the events are curated and presented through themes and threads — from art to the classics, from myths and traditions to creations designed for children and young audiences.

Through the project Visioni del corpo (Visions of the Body), Nicolas Ballario explores new intersections between dance and contemporary art — delving into Women in Contemporary Photography alongside choreographer Sofia Nappi, and into the work of Maurizio Cattelan with choreographer Lara Guidetti, who captivated audiences last summer with SANTA at Reggiane Parco Innovazione.

Ancient traditions, folklore, and mythical figures inspire and inhabit the creations of Francesco Marilungo — winner of the 2024 UBU Award for Best Dance Performance — Emma Cianchi, appearing at the Fonderia for the first time, and Opus Ballet Company, presenting a new evening of works by Adriano Bolognino, Roberto Tedesco, and Giovanni Insaudo.

The Viaggi nel repertorio del balletto (Journeys into Ballet Repertoire) series, curated by dance journalist and critic Francesca Pedroni, also continues — a cycle of performance-conversations featuring guest artists from the ballet companies of Teatro San Carlo in Naples and Teatro dell’Opera in Rome.

Meanwhile, Michele Merola’s MM Contemporary Dance Company presents two works by the renowned French choreographer Maguy Marin — milestones in the history of contemporary dance — while Natiscalzi DT, led by Tommaso Monza and Claudia Rossi Valli, premieres its original interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Fairy tales for younger audiences will also be part of the programme, with performances by Teatro del Buratto and a new version of Pinocchio created by Davide Tagliavini and Cinzia Pietribiasi.

Many opportunities to experience dance in its various forms and to discover new perspectives on the body, movement, and dialogue with other disciplines.

On Friday, July 17, we will present our VR Corner at Rocchetta Mattei (Grizzana Morandi, Bologna). DANSITE is a project that promotes the artistic heritage of the Emilia-Romagna Region through dance and virtual reality.

Caracalla Danza 2026

A site-specific initiative from June 26 to 28, with CCN/Aterballetto leading a surprise journey through the famous spaces — and other secret and hidden ones — of the archaeological complex of the Baths of Caracalla, curated by Diego Tortelli. From June 30 to July 5, stage performances are scheduled on the Specchio d'Acqua (Water Mirror).
