CCN/Aterballetto receives the Taobuk Award in Taormina

We are proud to announce that the Centro Coreografico Nazionale / Aterballetto will receive the 2025 Taobuk Award as part of the prestigious Taobuk Festival, taking place in Taormina from June 18 to 23. The award is being presented “for pushing the body beyond its formal limits, restoring to choreography an evocative power that engages the viewer far beyond aesthetics.”

The award will be conferred on Saturday, June 21, during the Taobuk Gala at the Teatro Antico—the festival’s signature evening, which each year celebrates international excellence in literature, the arts, and culture.

For the occasion, Aterballetto will perform Rhapsody in Blue by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich.

In this year’s edition dedicated to the theme of boundaries—understood not as barriers, but as places of encounter and transformation—our choreographic work will be honored alongside major figures in the arts and culture, including directors and actors Gabriele Salvatores, Pierfrancesco Favino, Monica Guerritore, Whoopi Goldberg; authors Zadie Smith, Peter Cameron, Javier Cercas, Amélie Nothomb, Susanna Tamaro; artist Ai Weiwei; Andrea Sarri, principal dancer at the Paris Opéra Ballet; soprano Jessica Pratt; and pianist Ramin Bahrami.

Receiving this award in such a rich and thought-provoking context is a meaningful recognition of dance as a language of connection, exploration, and vision.

The Gala will be broadcast on Rai 1 on July 2 at 23.00.
