The Chiostri di San Pietro are the evocative setting of DANZA AI CHIOSTRI, a summer event curated by the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto and the Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia as part of the Restate summer programme of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia.

Meet the coreographer! is an educational project curated by Annika Pannitto for children aged 7 and over. The workshop unfolds across a series of encounters with some of the choreographers who have marked the evolution of dance over the past sixty years and have proposed an expansion of its traditional meaning.
The title takes its cue from the expression Meet the Artist, which usually denotes the moment when the artist is invited to talk with the audience to share the process behind a performance. Although not live, the project makes it possible to meet the choreographers through their works, to begin a journey of learning and to discover how dance and choreography have evolved and questioned their own history, profoundly changing the use of the body and its relationship with movement.
The idea is to bring children closer not only to the individual works, but also to the context in which they were created, to the processes that made them possible, and to the exercises and studies that the artists developed to build their own path and through which they contributed to the evolution of the live arts. For the autumn season of Danza in Fonderia, the choreographer in focus will be William Forsythe.

The title is a free reference to the concept of “mimetic desire” theorised by the French anthropologist René Girard, who argued that human imitation lies at the root of many of the phenomena that characterise our behaviour. The project sets out to draw attention to the perception of certain elements linked to contemporary dance, starting from the concept of imitation as a basic element for the embodiment of dance and for cultural transmission, examining how particular kinds of information and qualities of movement are replicated or transferred from one person to another through a memetic process.
Within the workshop, then, a series of exercises is developed, focused on listening to the body and on the search for movement. Through the relationship with a series of static images, in which the body is represented in a particular form, various attempts at a mimetic relationship are explored, eliciting in the children different qualities of movement and physical representation.

NOTTE MORRICONE
On 28 and 29 November CCN/Aterballetto dances Notte Morricone in the season of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, accompanied by the orchestra for the first time in Italy.
On 28 and 29 November 2026, at the Teatro EuropAuditorium in Bologna, Aterballetto presents its homage to the music of Ennio Morricone as part of the dance season of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. For the first time in Italy, these two performances are played live by the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Maestro Maurizio Billi, with the voice of soprano Federica Caseti Balucani.
“I, Ennio Morricone, am dead,” the composer wrote before taking his leave. His music, however, cannot die. This is how creators and artists always leave us without leaving us, and this is how memory takes care to keep them alive, to keep them safe. Notte Morricone is my gift, a devoted tribute to the beauty he gave the world.
Notte Morricone unfolds in the twilight of an ordinary night in the life of a creative who, alone and dazed before his sheets of paper, takes notes and visualises melodies for films that do not yet exist, bringing stories back to life in the rarefied air of his room.

It is impossible to describe Notte Morricone, a masterly piece that reaches the spectator in waves, embraces them with emotional surges and holds them in the memory of timeless melodies that have long outlived the images that gave rise to them. The finely chiselled, always poetic choreography is just as enchanting, composed with obsessive attention to detail: legs and necks seem to have no joints, bending and snapping rhythmically like metronomes.

PAS DE CHEVAL
Andrea Costanzo Martini investigates through dance the condition of the contemporary performer.

Pas de Cheval is a duet choreographed by Andrea Costanzo Martini and performed together with Francesca Foscarini, conceived for two performers who are no longer in their early youth. Starting from the figure of the horse, a symbol of grace, strength and freedom, the work explores the parallel between the animal and the dancer-performer: creatures that are admired and, at the same time, subjected to toil, discipline and dynamics of power.
On stage, the two performers move in silence, embodying trained horses, while a soundscape made up of recorded voices accompanies their bodies. It is their own voices, in the form of whispers that chase and overlap one another, that give shape to laments, confessions and small ironies about the condition of the contemporary performer.

With the dance of Roser López Espinosa, the Fonderia is transformed into a space for a galactic adventure.

COMETA is an unexpected traveller who, through her curiosity and her discoveries, invites us to look at what surrounds us with new eyes, with the gaze of a child.
Together with her, the audience embarks on a galactic adventure to discover the force of gravity, the possibilities of movement and the power of empathy. A journey through geometry, play and the speed of light, discovering the universe, the imagination and interstellar travel. And, above all, an opportunity to celebrate the joy of the encounter.

Roser López Espinosa has been present on the international scene since 2006 with works such as The Lizard’s Skin (awarded Best Solo at the 11th Masdanza), Lowland, November, Hand to Hand and others. She has also created large-scale productions such as L’estol for the National Dance Production of Catalonia, Trama (Award for Best Choreography 2019 at the 22nd Critics’ Awards) and FAULA (Award for Best Dance Ensemble 2026 at the 29th MAX Performing Arts Awards in Spain).
Cometa, co-produced with Vorpommern tanzt an (Germany), has captivated audiences of all ages with over 200 performances around the world.
She has been a guest choreographer for international companies such as Skånes Dansteater (Sweden), Scottish Dance Theatre (United Kingdom), Zagreb Dance Company (Croatia), Conny Janssen Danst (Netherlands) and MiR Dance Company (Germany), and has collaborated, among others, with the circus companies Mumusic Circus (Catalonia) and Compagnie XY (France).
An associate artist at La Caldera in Barcelona, artist in residence at the Mercat de les Flors from 2018 to 2021 and exchange artist in residence in 2022 at the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei (Taiwan), she develops her work through her company Lowland.
Her creations have been programmed at international festivals in Europe, Latin America and North America, the Middle East and Asia.
