Stanze\Rooms su Rai5

A fascinating and intricate relationship has always joined visual art and movement, and from the earliest drawings man has sought to represent in the fixity of an instant the instinct to move and the passage of time. A “language” illustrated by Barbara Pozzoni and Valeria Schiavoni’s doc produced by Rai Cultura “Le stanze dell’arte”, broadcast on Wednesday 11 January at 9.15 p.m. in prime time on Rai 5, for “Art Night” with Neri Marcorè.

The story develops around two main lines: the painting and sculpture of the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia and ‘Stanze\Rooms’, a site-specific performance that the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto’s resident choreographer, Diego Tortelli, has custom-designed for the rooms of the Pinacoteca.

As he explains in an exclusive interview, Diego Tortelli started from the suggestions of the new layout of some of the rooms in the Pinacoteca and imagined a choreographic and musical journey in which history and innovation meet. For the choreographer, the museum is the place where memories are treasured, and it is to this special place that he has entrusted all those duets and unpublished solos that have been a fundamental part of his artistic research, as Gigi Cristoforetti, director of FND/Aterballetto, also explains.

The Pinacoteca was recently restored and now the colours of the rooms collect and envelop the paintings giving them an added value, a new light. Around the performance, the narrative is entrusted to Stefano Karadjov, director of the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, Roberta D’Adda, curator of the Museum, and Cristiana Natali, professor of Anthropology of Dance at the University of Bologna.
